Have you seen the Lakers with just Kobe? They suck. Then Memphis decided to trade Pau Gasol for nothing and everything changed.
The year that Gasol got traded to the Lakers the Lakers were at the top of the West Conference..
How many games in, like 30? With a tough western conference at that time, they could of faded easily.

Yep, but you really can't blame Kobe for that. When you have to score 81 points to win against the Raptors, you know your team is just bleh.
Also, don't complain about Gasol being traded, you can either get something of value from the center that's obviously not going to resign or you can get LBJ-ed (without the sideshow obviously).

So you're saying they could have gotten two first-round picks, two second-round picks, the right to swap picks in 2012 and a $14.5 million trade exception instead of Kwame Brown (mainly for his expiring contract), Javaris Crittenton, Aaron McKie (who the Lakers signed earlier that day), the draft rights to Marc Gasol and first round picks in 2008 and 2010.
Those sound about equal to me, though Marc turned out to be a lot better than most people thought.

I think you have Dallas too high. I expect the Rockets to be better than Dallas espceially later in the season if Yao can play more min in the playoffs.
I also am predicting the Thunder who were 8th last year don't jump over all those other teams despite the Durant golden boy image related hype going into them atm :p
Griffin looks legit athletically. I know its early but he seriously looks like barring injury he should be able to win rookie of the year if he has any type of jumpshot at all.

The Thunder were one bad call from being higher than eighth...
and one put back from taking the lakers to game seven
its not hype, its the truth that this team is legit, top in two key categories, free throw % (thanks durant and westbrook) and in team defense, definitely a nice team.
So I have a sneaking suspicion that PG or not, the Heat's offense is never going to have great fluidity or reliably produce good opportunities, but through star power alone they'll be able to reach 100~ on most nights.
The defense, however, has the potential to be unfuckingbelievable with the agility and footspeed at every position. If they can put the teamwork together on that end, they could be one of those epic 85ppg defenses like the 2004 Pistons.

Surely if the Center is that bad and always out of position their Power Forwards should have insane rebounding stats right? You just don't know how rebounding works because how good you're Center is entails only part of the story.
NO other Raptors rebounded, not just the center. There are only so many rebounds out there, and if your teammates aren't getting any, then you're going to get more by default.
Bosh plays PF. He went for the ball because he's good at it. He had over 200 offensive rebounds for the past two years.
Just stop, you really have no idea what you're talking about. Just blind hate.
I watched Bosh in person about 200 times since 2004. He's soft. He's usually the only guy under the basket (on both ends of the floor), and he gets manhandled by anyone with a hint of desire. Scoring is the only thing he brings to the table, and the heat don't need it.
