I agree about Nelson, he wasnt part of their finals run, anyone remember Rafer Alston hitting big shots? slaps eddie house in the head and gets the pine as soon as Nelson comes back? worst coaching move ive ever seen. But i digress, they seemed better with Turk running most of the offense, just pick and rolling 6'10". The main reason im excited about Dwight having a jump shot is that im encouraged in his ability to increase his confidence in free throws.

Well that is one of the weird things about Orlando. Losing Turk and Rafer Alston seemed to be moves that doomed them to 3rd best. I still think that you need TWO solid ball handlers to initiate the offense to win the NBA championship. Losing Turk and relying on Jameer Nelson alone was a major blow.

Eh, I don't think Turkoglu was that hard to replace -_- The Magic improved their record but most of their important players are highly unreliable-Carter, Lewis (post-steroid suspension), Nelson. When they are playing at their best they are probably easily the best team in the league.

the magic's problem could very well be they dont have another gear, they are not as talented as the other contenders
if dwight learns to basketball this year this could change, till then hes a freak athlete but not much more

and yeah about lewis, he hasnt been the same since that steroid suspension, i kinda believed it was innocuous at the time but it does make u wonder

looking good tonight so far, then again its the wizards bullets

Hahahaha... long year for Washington.

Sorry, that was uncalled for, but I expected Saunders to at least whip these guys into not spotting up tough shots on every other possession.

Saunders runs a jump shot offense. Or at least he did in MN and I don't think he's changed. It's no surprise that they're shooting jumpers. They should be a little more open though.

On an irrelevant note, I'm surprised John Wall manages so well in those weird reebok shoes. edit: not commenting on the game because it was too hard to watch that slaughter after the 1st quarter. -_-

disagree, turkoglu's ball handling skills at his size were VERY unique, pick and roll with him and howard was REALLY hard to stop

Not to mention Turkoglu added a late game threat willing to step up and hit, or miss, shots. Vince doesnt seem to have the same sort of killer instinct in Orlando yet, hopefully it develops this year.

It won't. Vince isn't that kind of a player and never will. He plays far more like someone content with dominating the highlight reels on SportsCenter than actually playing the game.

6 milwaukee
7 charlotte
8 philadelphia

im not convinced that the knicks are good

west

1 lakers

i think houston might have a chance of finishing near top 5. scola is so amazing this year, aaron brooks has gotten amazingly better since last year, kevin martin seems to finally have found his position in the team, and yao is back!

definitely a threatening team.

west is tough to predict every year. they are solid 1-10. I think the melo/martin drama will hold back denver and i think pheonix is done.

also note, those are my season ending standings. i am predicting based on health/age/ other factors. you know papavich loves to rest his stars randomly through the season, he only cares about getting to the playoffs.

I'm surprised people still think Jazz are going to do well this year, especially after both Denver and Phoenix pretty much handled them. Also think people are underestimating Phoenix, they're still a solid offensive team with Warrick finding his place, although nobody can really replace Amare.

1. Lakers
2. Thunder
3. Dallas
4. Denver
5. Portland
6. Phoenix
7. Spurs
8. Going with Rockets though I feel it's a toss up between them, the Jazz, and Hornets

In the East I still feel like only the top 3 teams matter. Even Chicago feels like it's missing scoring options like they talked about in their game against the Thunder. They really got crushed by the Thunder defense at the end of the game. Might change my opinion on them when I see Boozer fit in.

1. Orlando
2. Miami
3. Boston
4. Atlanta
5. Chicago
6. Knicks
7. Bucs
8. Charlotte

Well, if they were unique abilities of Hedo's and not a result of playing on those particular Magic teams, why did they not show up outside of Orlando? Hedo was effective but playing with a well spaced offense that has a dominant big man is going to open up a lot of options. Orlando has looked very good since Hedo left, aside from inconsistency.

I'm super excited for Orlando-Miami tonight.

Edit: I love how all they talk about on ESPN is Miami. We get it. They have LeBron, D-Wade, and Chris Bosh. Stop pleasuring yourselves to them -_-
