At least they have shown vast improvements in rebounding/defense when david lee is out there. I still think .500 is a good possibility for the warriors as long as there are no huge injuries If Monte keeps up his MVP numbers and Curry keeps drastically improving, they will be competing for the 8th seed in the East. Sigh i miss the old Warriors with Baron Davis...
They were fun to watch. Too bad Bdiddy is a lazy cancer on the Clippers. I have my money on my Knicks making the playoffs this year and upsetting Miami. BOOK IT

I still don't think the Knicks have a shot. They are 1 dominant scoring threat away from being an offensive nightmare though.

Bucks failing hard so far =[
Carlos Delfino going out due to neck injury was a brutal blow. He was pretty good in that offense :/
The Bucks are like, a killer defensive squad but since Brandon Jennings can't score with ease all the time they get into trouble.

Signing Felton was a terrible idea. How can you be in the league for so many years and still can't run a pick and roll with Amar'e.

Seriously Felton is pretty surprisingly bad at the PnR, lol. He has been an above average PG in other aspects though. One would hope learning the pick and roll is something he can manage with time.

Something is really wrong with the Heat...
Wade especially looks like he isn't trying at all.

Yeah, I know what you mean about Delfino.
I'm not sure about Jennings. He chucks way too many shots for a PG if you ask me and doesn't distribute the ball enough in the traditional PG sense.
Bogut pretty much can't shoot with his injured elbow and is struggling to impact on the offensive end. Salmons has been massively disappointing... Maggette and Gooden have been effective, but thet're hardly game winners. Still, there's time to turn it around so I won't panic too much yet.

god damn Miami got crushed today, lovin it!

The Heat look worse than they did last year.
Of course, Wade was off physically and that will be a major disruption. However, the way things were going, even if he was not off I still don't think Miami would have won that game.
It is obvious these guys are not going to develop chemistry anytime soon. The big 3 do not compliment each other, surprisingly, and they have no depth now with Haslem and Miller injured. Even when they were mostly healthy they never like a contender.
With Haslem out I can see the Heat with a .500 record (I'm sure they are going to be 8-7 after they play Orlando tomorrow in this state).
It is pretty disappointing from a basketball standpoint. But I do enjoy ESPN falling flat on their face. God they were unforgivably obnoxious with the way they shoved the Heat down our throats, just completely pathetic...
|
It would be the ultimate irony if we see Miami and Clevland battling for the 7-8-9 seed or something at the end of the season.
I think Miami is going to pick it up and win 45 games or so, but they just look terrible.

Yeah, god this team is going to implode real soon if they don't get their shit together.

As Serv said, there's just no chemistry at all in the team.
It's like Bosh/LeBron/Wade get the ball on offense and just do their own thing. Other players out there tend to just keep out of the way and almost look overawed.
It's hard to put a finger on it, but they really do look just awful.
And something is definitely wrong with Wade. He's at least three of the worst performances of his career in the first 15 games of this season. Gary Payton basically came out and said he was a bit precious... Maybe he struggling to live in LBJ's shadow?

Also, yes, you take the star guard over the big man with potential. Yes, yes, yes. Suitable big men can be built over time and usually get traded anyways, since they don't meet their potential with their first team. The trade value of a star guard and a star big men are relatively close, even though it's much, much easier to cultivate and predict the guard. That's a mistake on GM's parts, but it's still usually the case.
Has any big man with potential actually ever panned out? I'm not very familiar with the college game but it seems like every successful star big man I can think of was already a star in college. I don't recall a raw one with "potential" ever turn into a star.
PER, while bad, isn't as bad as Hollinger's power rankings. Those are a joke since he only cares about winning margin and strength of schedule but actually seems to compute them independently. The Lakers were no. 5 behind the at the time 8-5 Heat (now 8-6, lol) but went straight back to no. 1 after beating the Warriors by 28 points. Basically, Hollinger's power rankings reward teams that can routinely run up the score against the crappy teams of the NBA.
Oh, http://www.countdowntofailure.com/MiamiHeat2010 is the best site to follow the Heat.

Shaq, Dwight are 2 that comes to mind and I would say they both turned out pretty well, both were fairly raw. Oden was a star in college, number 1 recruit and only reason why OSU went to the NCAA finals and actually had a legitimate shot at winning. Yao was pretty "raw" (aka unaccustomed to the NBA) but he panned out. Kwame Brown...not so much. It's a matter of how well both their game and their capabilities transfer onto the NBA stage.
That's the problem with getting big men with potential or talent, it's like Hakeem, David, and Patrick could have all gone the way of Ralph Sampson for some reason or another. Humor me and ignore the fact that Sampson was injury-ridden.
However, is it worth the gamble? Definitely. Hell, Daniel Orton got taken in the first round last year by the Magic and he is like mediocre in his best games in college, but he apparently had enough upside for the Magic to give him guaranteed money.
|
I didn't know Shaq was raw coming out of college. I mean if even dunking was his only offensive skill coming out of college, that's still way more than the Kwame Browns and the Roy Hibberts have (though he has come on strong lately), who don't seem that athletic at all. I thought he was able to at least score decently during his first few seasons, even if they're just dunks, alley-oops and putbacks.

Let's put it another way, there hasn't been a non-raw big come out of college for a good while now. There's a difference between taking advantage of your athletic talents and effectively using your talents within the context of the offense and defense of the NBA. That being said, a lot of the hype comes from people focusing too much on the IF he can apply this in the NBA rather than the WILL he apply this in the NBA.
People see the physical aspects, the game tape and just drool at the potential with a bunch of qualifiers like IF he adds this or that to his game and we have a franchise player without (and rightfully so) realizing how difficult it can be to actually make that IF clause come true.

I'm getting pretty annoyed watching CP3 mouth off to refs and not get one T, especially after seeing so much other bs this season.

Taken from what I've seen of Cleveland...
Wade doesn't seem to want to give up the alpha dog throne. Lebron is stuck halfway between Cleveland mode and complimentary player. And Bosh thinks he's an equal member of the big 3. Also, I think we overestimated Bosh. He inflated his image by putting up big numbers in Toronto, but did anyone actually watch him play? He doesn't look all that good. He could be a decent role player, but he keeps looking for his shot like he's a star.
Still this team should be a threat by playoff time if they all get healthy. They still have the Pat Riley as coach card to play.

Bosh is shooting and playing like he shot in toronto. I don't know why so many people think he's a kind of superstar foward like dwight or amare. He has his own playstyle that he excels in but it definitely isn't what most of you think it is.
He wasn't putting up big rb numbers because he had to deal with sharing space with haslem/anthony, who are trying to look like their contributing to this allstar team. Now with them gone, bosh is getting his doubledoubles again.
The only problem I see with this team is wade. On his bad nights - he is TERRIBLE, but he still won't stop shooting or driving. Just give up the ball already, holy shit.
|
Wade's bad shooting nights are really just missed shots that are good looks. I don't even know how you can say he's playing selfish when he's actually deferring a lot to Lebron - and then taking over when he has an easy matchup.
A lot of the Miami hate is being blown way out of line. They aren't playing selfish, they aren't hogging the ball and they aren't taking a ton of bad shots. If anything Wade was the best player before the wrist injury shut him down with Lebron being the second best. How quickly people forget all those monster scoring performances Wade dropped when healthy.

lol at NO for losing against the clippers. just one of those days i guess...
