Don't forget the console players! And the people that can't pirate it.
The user-score is actually often a decent indicator for non-mainstream games of a genre thats for specific players that critics bomb instead but pretty depressing for games like Diablo III.

Remember Diablo 2 when you could just bind skills to F keys and run around using whatever you had instantly? Those days are gone.
To switch from a splash spell to a single target spell you need to open a menu... and here is the real kicker, there is a COOLDOWN on the spell after you switch!
To me this is a major step backwards. It feels so rigid and stale. I am forced to use the same crap spell all the time. I'm level 10 and I just run around spamming 1 spell because it they don't want me to switch.
This is major fail blizzard.
In Diablo 2, you only had 2 skills on screen, so you needed to find stuff to the F keys. With 6 skill slots onscreen in D3, it's wholly unnecessary.

Just trying to get through the working day so I can play this evening. Did manage to catch some running streams. Highest team I saw was somewhere between the middle and the end of Act 1 Hell.
Plan on playing with 3 other mates tomorrow evening. We have a Wizard, Barb, DH and WD team (me being the WD). From what I saw on the streams, we are going to get our arses handed to us with just 1 tank. Guess I'll have to go defence heavy on the WD: Minions, poison and slow

hey there
i would like to know something about the language options: is it possible to have a different language for audio and another one for subtitles and text in general? f.e. to have the voices etc. in english but the subtitles and descriptions (skills, loot etc...) in german?

Also, every game that is somewhat popular and requires you to be online will have massive connectivity issues at launch, because companies aren't going to double up on capacity just to survive the first hour traffic peak. But the net result is that Metacritic will get bombed by people just posting a rating 0 review because they can't connect 2 minutes after launch.
For online games, user reviews should be blocked until the game is a week old. Because by then everyone has forgotten the minor issues at launch-hour and will provide a better overview of the game.

Im seeing all these premade parties and im afraid it will be much more slack in solo mode (i want to play HC and get the feel first with soloing), is the difference really big?
|
is there any fucking way to access the action house while playing ?
|
If you're enjoying the game (and I sincerely hope you are!) it can't hurt to put in a positive word and/or up-vote some of the other positive reviews. If you honestly feel the game deserves less than a 10/10, I'll respectfully disagree, but you should definitely voice that opinion too, hopefully in a more coherent way than "NO LAN NO SKILL POINTS NO STAT POINTS 0/10".

Or by people that cant actually still play the game. Thanks to Blizzard's use of p2p to download and also install + that agent.ex file makes my network freak out and not be able to install the game. Im a sad panda.

the Diablo 2 setup was better imo
you could change the F key binds to
QWERT ASDFG
and switch between skills quickly while using LMB or RMB to cast & target skills
unless there was something I missed, targeting with 1, 2, 3, or 4 on the keyboard during Diablo 3 beta was awkward to me

This kind of lag would be such a headache when I reach Nightmare though... I couldn't even defeat SK during the open beta -__-.

Can't you change the hotkeys? You can always change them to QWER like dota/league of legends

absolutely disgusted so far.
my internet is capped but resets at around midnight so i thought i'd install the game then patch and play when my internet gets up. Im using a bloody physical CD and i have to DOWNLOAD A PATCH BEFORE EVEN INSTALLING OFF DISK WTF!.
so i wait 4 hours getting this system updater update get the instal screen. go to click accept then "incorrect installation options." WTF IS THIS SHIT i try everything but to no avail i have to close the installer. i think to myself just force administrater run and maybe that will fix it......NO I HAVE TO DOWNLOAD A SYSTEM UPDATER PATCH AGAIN.
disgusted it wont even just let me install the game off the disk without internet connection. DISGUSTED.
at around midnight when my net is back up im sure i will be enjoying slamming my head against the wall because of 37, 32 errors or whatever, and maybe at 3 am i might get into the game and start enjoying it. but overall im disgusted.
Stupid Company fear of pirates. To combat them they make everything harder for the rest of us. blizzard probably will lose more money from crappy reviews of release and shit ass online restrictions then pirates anyway >.>
/disgruntled enraged uni student rant over. Didn't they teach you to read the manual at the uni? It was released 4 days ago saying: download and install the game BEFORE the release, update the installer, create a tag and all that, etc.... Log in wait time sucks, but its worth it because the game runs like butter, no lag whatsoever. weren't you taught to read a post before quoting it? how can i download a game when my internet is capped? why should i be obliged to download the game when i buy a physical copy? im sure the game is great, but the shit prior to that is disgusting.
University student here too. I dont have a capped internet, but they dont like p2p here, so I just cant play Diablo 3 because it wont (Innitialize Steaming)

I bought the game and I have no previous experience with Diablo , do you guys suggest to play Solo or with a team ? I have no idea about how the game work so sorry for this question, but if you play with a team do you risk missing some loots or things like that ?

you don't risk anything other than people possibly spoiling the story
group play increases monster HP scaling and in higher difficulties, damage scaling as well

I would start off solo so you can go at your own pace, experience the world, story, etc. etc. Then join up with others once you get a feel for it. If you join up with others right off the bat, odds are they will just fly through things and won't give you a chance to properly experience the game.
