Oh I legit didn't know that(I'm sure it was mentioned somewhere and I skipped over it). Damn I wasted a bunch of time then(especially since I can't play that often, QQ).

Did they reduce the chance of enchanting a socket onto a weapon or something? Like jesus wtf, I must of tried literally 60+ times on 3 separate weapons (WD here).

Even if they did that would only be a positive. you don't want a socket because of gift

Early on you definately want to enchant for socket. You know, until your ancient leg weapon worth using a gift drops.
|
Exactly. I just need a socket to get by. And Jesus Christ, I've never had this problem. Literally, wasted 70+ tries for a damn socket.

damn got carnevil, the dagger of darts and the knife that reduces big bad voodoo cd every time a fetish attacks

I don't know about removing sets. Last season, I did HC for achievements after getting my sets in SC. It was boring as hell.
The biggest issue with reducing drop rates is that you're going to get bored shortly after completing your sets anyway and you'll end up playing a huge amount of time without your 6-pc bonus. At least this way we have the 6-pc bonus while grinding gems.

Lucky you ~.~ . Seems like every second time I want to socket something it takes 40+ tries. Usually I get the same roll as I already have and something crappy.
On the topic of lowering droprates. I don't think its the answer. I think this current grind system works rather well. Just that it should be gold stuff and not legendaries. Legendaries are the new Gold items in D3. But they should add more items like the gift that slots the weapon. Powerful boosters that don't affect the Legendary grind system but add to it.
But I think we won't get much changes, seems like they are prepping an expansion or something of the sorts.

I guess I don't really see the functional difference between making the grind for new items or better versions of the same items. Either way, it's hours and hours of grinding for incremental power increases, and playtime will give roughly the same (relative) power level advantages it does right now.
It's just the nature of a grindy, loot based game. If you make drop rates x% less than they are already, all that really happens is everyone plays the *exact* same game, but are ~x% less powerful at it. Diablo is a bit unique in the number of truly "incremental" increases you can get between Caldesann's, Paragons, Ancients, and gem levels, so you're always making some progress even if loot isn't dropping.
On a way more interesting note - woot for early season leaderboards:

There are still so many completely useless legendaries in the game, i think it should be adressed moving forward. Especially two handed swords, polearms and spears. Set weapons or useful legendary stats(like swiftmount, starmetal kukri, furnace etc) discourage the use of those weapons.
We are in a much better state in terms of loot compared to release though, searching for a yellow archon pauldron with perfect rolls was boring as fuck.

Currently playing seasonal wiz, para 645. Tried Vyr archon, tal rasha twister, WoH sage farming, and now doing the FoTM firebird archon. But I have a question: Since Firebird wiz is often out of archon for a long time (even with 52% CDR, swiftness gem and in-geom), and you do basically 0 damage and are supersquish outside of it, why does everyone use Shami in cube? Wouldn't it be better to use Leoric for yet more CDR? The stacks are gone before archon is back up 99% of the time (rarely 20 chantodo stacks by then either), and there are too few stacks to matter on torrent damage (not like Vyr, where you have 150 stacks and no archon CD).
I'm also not entirely sold on the teleport rune, even though I can see why its used by most.

UE DH is pretty good. Thinking of putting together a Shadow Set to try that build. Anyone have any tips for that?

Played Shadow for a while last season, its very good in some types of rifts (few trash mobs), and up till maybe lvl 75ish. After that (or if you play with a tank), it becomes pretty much impossible to target the elites because it hits everything else in the way.
|
You'll need to itemize for insane area damage and hope for good procs to get reasonable clear speed out of Shadow. Otherwise you're a glorified RG killer, only at some point you're still slower than a Wizard at that too.
For solo, it's pretty tanky and fun, but won't compete for top pushes.

Umm unless I fuck up, I'll get about 10 seconds of stack overlap time for each firebird archon and you usually will have the 20 stacks or close to for it as well for chantodo's and that damage amp totally wrecks shit up.
It is super fucking annoying to be so squishy though. Basicly any hit from any enemy will 1 shot. God help if the rift level has a lot of ranged mobs.

Chakra and Impale sword/dagger are trash once you get higher up. I've had more succes with a Smokescreen spam FoK centered build powered by CDR+Prep/Focused Mind. FoK is pretty much your bread and butter - you oneshot pretty much anything with good amount of stacks on lightning CoE rotation.
Illusionary Boots are soooooo good, after having gotten used to them I wouldn't take anything else in the armor slot. Such an underrated item. Combined with Smokescreen you're pretty much immune to everything, feels far superior to vault belt.
Generally you want to hunt Elites, high progress mobs and just blitz past trash. If you run across huge density you can aggro them all, pull them to your templar and pop smokescreen and blow up the screen with FoK on lightning rotation.
Try to time the rift guardian so you have a good amount of stacks ready to instagib the mofo.
Did 75 runs ezpz without any augs and ~50 level gems on PTR.
I think the LoN FoK build is far superior but meh, Shadow Set is so much fun to play.

Question, just got an ancient IK boulder breaker. I currently have a regular IK boulder breaker. I am doing raekor with boulder toss. The regular boulder breaker gives me +21 fury. The ancient one does NOT have + fury, but according to comparison gives me +67% damage over the regular one. However the comparison does not factor in boulder toss.
But i'm not sure the damage mechanics of boulder toss so i can figure out which one is better. Each pt of fury spent is 20% weapon damage, so 21 fury = +410% weapon damage right? Not sure how to compare that to the +200 extra str the ancient boulder breaker gives me plus the higher base damage....

Was gonna use this season as a time-killer until Overwatch came out.
Got fantastic ancient drops 'n stuff for the entire firearchon setup by paragon 250, completed season by paragon 500.
... now what? D:
