I picked up Seven Pounds with Will Smith from 2008 on the weekend. It is a pretty polarizing movie, you either love it or hate it, but I enjoyed it quite a bit.
i actually shed a tear at the end of the movie, and it doesnt happen to me
Wow really? I HATED the movie lol. Was so close to just walking out.
Robin Hood: terrible.
Just saw The Prestige for the first time: I really liked it. Good cast, nice plot and overall a good movie.
I just watched Seven Pounds, blown away, Will Smith did it again. This and The Pursuit of Happyness were amazing, definitely not something you can forget. I don't care how idealistic Seven Pounds is, it is deep and tragic and everything else.
And I know for a fact I wouldn't want to drink beer with OneOther, this guy has no heart.
The Book of Eli. Sick movie. Expected nothing from it but it was captivating from the beginning. Judging from the comments here it is really underrated. You don't have to believe in order to admit it was good. Great plot, scenery, acting wasn't disappointing either.
It did remind me of Fallout3 visuals, I wonder to what extent they were trying to emulate that atmosphere. Maybe I'm a little biased since I love everything post-apocalyptic/cyberpunk related.
Hah I just found this : "The screenplay is by Gary Whitta, a former editor of PC Gamer magazine, and the video game provenance of this story is apparent in the spectacular, gory visuals." That explains some.
I just got finished watching Legion and my first thought was LOOOOOOOOOOL. It's one of those movies that are so bad you can't help but love it. Was like some noobies playing Left 4 Dead with a few references to god sprinkled in.
Is a movie from (South) Korea. Is about the life of two jesters/minstrels who seem to be in love (doesn't become quite clear from the movie) and anger the king by making fun of him in their plays. They are thus sentenced to play for their lifes with the task to make the king laugh. If they fail they'll die.
The king behaves like a little child and is mentally one. He possesses too much power (like most kings) and can do as he pleases with his subjects. One can draw relatively nice parallels to certain stories we have recently heard about the life of Korean men concerning women. But I guess that's not untypical for many kings from that era (and certain kings/rulers nowadays) to indulge in polygamy and have whores entertain the contents of their pants.
Well, watch this movie if the description sparked your interest. It's not one of my favourite movies, but that's purely my personal reception. It is very good, has a high imdb rating (7.7) and is the second most successful Korean movie after The Host in terms of sold tickets.
What I liked most about the movie was how the characters were drawn in their personalities and in the actions they took (I especially liked the more brutal of the two minstrels).
And also WOW - how can a man look so feminine?! And pay close attention to how he plays it in terms of body language/motions - it's incredible what tiny details of female gestures/appearence (how women "move" I mean mostly) he includes in his play. Really liked that.
Can anyone recommend to me some recent okay/good horror films ? Having a party on saturday and we're gonna stay late so we need something to do for post-midnight hours Thanks in advance

Watched "50 Dead Men Walking" last night. I was entertained throughout. Inspired by a true story of an IRA infiltrator. Had to Subtitle though as Irish accent is tough for me to understand.
