Do you even know how tired you'd be after scaling that wall, let alone trying to do it in armor etc. Those that actually made it would be easy pickens for crow soldiers at the top. They could scale the wall at 300 different places along the Wall (it is 300 miles long) with 20 man at each place. Would only cost them 6k of their 100k. Or they could simply do more sneak attacks like the one with Thormund and the Thenns that they just did and that barely failed. Another attack of the same magnitude would probably be the end for the Watch. Although one should probably not think too hard about this. The wall does not make much sense in the first place. :D That's a good point, there are how many men left at Castle Black? Less than 100? The wiki mentions that there are only 3 manned castles left at the wall. There is no way that you can cover 300 miles of wall with 3 castles.

They aren't exactly taking their time, they're trying to get through the wall asap, they don't want the white walkers crashing down on their backsides while they climb the wall 20 at a time

The more I think about this episode the more I enjoy it, last episode was just shocking, this one people didn't have as much expectations so the deaths of multiple important characters didn't seem as intense.

So you're suggesting that the Wildlings adopt commando discipline and hit the wall in 300 different places at once. Okie doke. I think the show has done a pretty good job of articulating how unusual it is to see so many Wildlings in one place and how impressive it is that Mance has kept them from killing each other. He only took the risk with the scaling party because he trusts Tormund, but the minute he sends multiple lesser parties to scale the wall is the minute he loses all of those men to desertion. Pillaging the north is much more enticing than attacking a Nights Watch castle.
Why do that when his numbers are so overwhelming that he can actually take the gate and get all of his people through the wall. It will be inefficient as all hell but it will get the job done eventually, Castle Black just doesn't have enough men.

I don't give a shit about people shooting arrows or randomly smashing their big weapons into the others, in the end we can sum it up with two sentences : "X,Y and Z died when savageons attacked the wall Jon Snow is going for rambo mission". I was really expecting something good as it's usually the case with last episodes from a season. There is another episode, this was the 9th, not the 10th 9th are usually climax episodes, this season's just faded out with nothing gamechanging having happened. Disappointing.

Usually, but this episode really stoud out of the usual GoT experience, so maybe it's not true this time. Also the rumors of a 66 minutes last episode...
Trailer spoiler + Show Spoiler +We see Tyrion so we can hope this resolves, more fighting in a snowy forest which I guess is north of the wall so there's more about that too

Jon Snow is such a terrible swordsman/fighter...
One of the worst I'd say.
He is a handsome guy though, he killed Ygritte with his smile.
|
To me the fight at the wall was a big climax, but it was like a reverse GoT surprise when everyone of importance survived save Ygritte. The hopelessness of the Night's Watch's defense was emphasized so much that I expected it to be completely run over, especially after the refusal to seal the tunnel. I didn't expect Mance to send just a small portion to test their defenses though, I'd forgotten he doesn't know the exact numbers of crows. What excites me though is that I have no clue whatsoever as to what their season ending cliff hanger could be, which means it could be unexpected and blow everyone's mind.
Poor Ygritte though, but I guess crows before hoes in the end.

Jon just isnt on par with the greats of the world, he is certainly a good swordsman I would say though.
|
Poor Ygritte. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say I really liked her and hated the fact that she died. That decision from Jon in the end was a bit weird though, we'll see. Kind of liked the ''one setting'' episode, much more than I expected to.

He survived the fookin legend tho
had some help, but still >.>

He lost against everyone he fought.
He is nowhere close to Barristan, Jorah, Bronn, Mountain etc.

Jorah? I suspect he is downright average.

He's also like 18 in the show, while the people you just rattled off are in their late-30's or beyond. He was trained in a castle, has good equipment, and looks to be getting plenty of practice so it's not out of the question for him to be one of the best someday. He's certainly killed his fair share already.
