Bleh.
I'm not happy Yvonne lived. That means she'll probably kill Debra if Batista doesn't. T_T She's too dangerous.
I think it's possible Matthews knows about the court orders for cell phone GPS. She seemed to be pleading with him for help, and it's possible he pulled strings to help her get them. And yeah, I agree with whoever said Batista seems like he's the antagonist for season 8.
Glad LaGuerta is dead, and Deb is alive :D.

Just because she framed dexter the POLICE wont help a Captain of the POLICE force? Is that how the police works in the US? She doesn't want to FURTHERMORE fuck up her reputation/credibility after the whole "I-Just-Fucking-Framed-Somebody" ordeal. It's one of the few things that actually made some sense in these last episodes. It makes more sense than a lot of other things this season, but even so, I think I would prioritize my life above my reputation when there's a chance that I'm being set up by the most accomplished serial killer of all time. To add on to that, I feel like the show didn't portray much fear within Laguerta when she discovered Dexter's identity. She was looking at the guy who has been the BHB for years without getting caught, planted evidence to frame her, and framed Doakes into being the BHB and tricked the whole department and her for years right under their noses. There has to be SOME fear or recognition of the danger she faces in Dexter. Dunno why she would be afraid, considering she wants the guy that setup Doakes. When you want revenge, fuck fear. so you wouldn't be afraid discovering that the most accomplished serial killer of all time was right under your nose and has been working in your police department for like the past half decade or so? i get your point but there's gotta be some fear there.
Maybe she was afraid to some degree, but if she ultimately wanted revenge, she would let that drive overcome any sort of fear she had. Plus, anger would fill my brain with how everyone, including myself, at Miami PD was fooled by Dexter.

Was anyone kinda disappointed by the last scene? I think it would have been a lot more interesting if Deb just let Dexter go, and next season (which I think is the last?) starts with him on the run with the entire police force after him.

I've been disappointed with Dexter since the season after John Lithgow. It seems now they're just giving Dexter a new girlfriend each season and Dexter is no longer a stoic killer that kills because of instinct. Now it seems he doesn't even feel the need to kill any more, it's just there to keep the series interesting and true to its roots. They've given Dexter too much emotion and the series is suffering because of it, personally I am looking forward to the series ending before they completely ruin what it was originally popular for.
I heard they had some problems with the main villain this season, and I hope that is true. Because if this season originally intended for it to go this way, what a colossal mess up

Problem is... You don't know who the main villain really is in season 7. Some would say it was obviously Laguerta, but I'd make the case that it was Deb the entire time.

As much as I have enjoyed Dexter (especially S1-4), I do feel it has run it's course now. I'm glad that the next season will be the last one, although I was kind of hoping that Dexter would get caught at the end of this season and that the next one would be about his trail. That would have been pretty interesting.

nah he was what like a four ep arc? and again, I don't think the season having a clear cut villain is even remotely a flaw or 'mess up'. doing the same thing over and over and over is silly and weak.

It was dusgusting just to see how much emotion Dexter showed this season. He couldn't even express love to Rita in season 1~2, but now he let's anger take over him so easily.
The only way to have a "villain problem" would be if Isaac was intended to be the main villain but couldn't make it until the season finale, so they had to kill him before that.

Just saw this on the local news and it reminded me of Dexter, especially since it happened in Miami area.
Man doused in gasoline and set on fire http://www.wsvn.com/news/articles/local/21009426211962/man-doused-with-gasoline-set-on-fire/
When I was watching the most recent episodes I thought about the idea of a copycat killer in real life, since there have been other stories of killers that have blamed their killings on imitating Dexter and all the "family values" groups that have given Dexter heat. I wonder what kind of blowback there would be if they caught these guys and they said Dexter was their inspiration.
Just to be clear, there's no reason to believe this has anything to do with the Dexter series, just thought it was unusual and I'm really bored.

And like Laguerta, you can also make a case for Isaak. But his overall impact on the season(however promising it was) felt fairly weak imo. A life lesson over Hannah, the girl Dexter sold out in the end? Pretty meh.

Yeah I was referring to Issac being the "main villain", I heard that he was cast into some movie so they had to kill him off early or something.

Rewatching the seasons, just finished up season 2. I forgot how much happened in just two seasons. The addiction is back, 3 or 4 more episodes tonight why not?

So im not too mad that Hannah lives which is kwl, but only if Dexter and her get back together again or something.

only if deb kills her IMO

I think the next season will all be about who loves Dexter more, Deb or Hannah, and which one does he love more?
They both can turn him in at any time if they want and he can only choose one...
|
I still think it was fairly obvious that we're never going to see Hannah again, given the fact that she left a note at Dexter's door in the middle of the night. The director wanted to make it clear that that was a goodbye shot. She's a wanted fugitive, she probably skipped town. Plus, this series doesn't carry characters between seasons very often anyway.
