This episode is the best evidence of two things: 1) how incompetent of a writters D&D are and 2) how bad E.Clark is as an actress.
1) First of all, they are incapable of writing smart characters and good and clever dialogue. How do you reason having Dany say „oh you've been thinking a lot about me dying? Maybe you want me dead? You are working with your family!“. Like what the fuck are you on bitch...
Also, how do you explain Arya being dumb as a doorknob. D&D are writing her as if she never saw Joffrey and Cersei, like she is incapable of making a logical deduction and concluding that they did in fact force Sansa to write that.
Also, the undead sitting around our heroes and waiting there for 1 full day only to attack after someone provoked them with a stone? What is that about? How bad can the writting go if you have to have your villans sit for no reason just enough for Dany to come to rescue? Or are we supposed to believe the Night King knows about the Dragons, about Dany and Jon and is baiting the dragons?
Sansa talking about having Brienne protect her and then sending her to KL? Is she sending here there so Arya doesn't have protection? But that doesn't make sense, Sansa needs her protection more than Arya, since she saw Arya can fight for herself.
And are we to accept that NK can take out one dragon just like that, with a spear throw? So what are even discussing about, taking out 2 other dragons will be piece of cake for him.
2) One of her three children dies and E.Clark is incapable of expressing a single emotion of loss, shock, disgust, nausea...she just stares in the distance with that stern look she's been holding for last 6 seasons.
All in all, I'm so dissapointed in this episode, probably the worst so far. The 'brilliant' plan of going north to get the undead costed them one dragon, Thoros and Benjen. In return they will get to see Cersei laughing at them when they show her their undead – she will probably tell them she already has one. Even if she joins them, what's she going to do against such a treath that can kill a dragon in one spear throw? Fuck him until he dies again? Send Gregor on them?

Out of interest, what do you think "shock" looks like? Cause I think what E. Clark portrayed is exactly that.

Would you do us the honour of taking your best "my baby who is a dragon just got killed by an ice spear and I'm both shocked and upset about this" selfie and uploading it here for us?
All opinions are legit and also simply opinions. Note: please do not post that it is objectively proven that someone is a bad actor/actress. The word "bad" is subjective.
PS: Having been around people when they find out their family members died without warning, stunned disbelief is a real response.
I know i know, you believe that we cannot define anything as bad in art because someone could disagree with it. Emilia clarke is still a bad actress and that is known since season 1.

Welcome to critiquing art. Opinions vary and no one gets to be right. It is not for the faint of heart or those who like to win arguments.
With that pov one can argue anything ofc. Emiliar clarke is a better actress than any of the last 10 academy award winners! "Bad pussy" is the best dialogue written since shakespeare
Let's just say i disagree completely with your pov. We defined what "good" means when we talk about certain things related to art.
I thought Clarke was great in S1. It's from S2 and onwards that she's been lackluster. Mostly because they've been trying to portray her as a hurt woman who is constantly repressing her feelings.
Dany's story line strayed significantly from the books since season 1 too, and their original script writing for her hasn't done her any favors.
The season as a whole up to this point had been fairly entertaining, but that was garbage. One of the appeals of the books is that heroes aren't mythical bad ass invincible characters who can fight hundreds of enemies at once and survive without a scratch. It was so predictable that Dany was going to come save them, even though she was half a continent away. It was also predictable that the Night King would turn one of the dragons undead.

Google 'shocked face expresion'. I know THIS is not a shocked face:
Her lip should be trembling. Her eyes should be watering. Her mouth should be opening as if to prepare to shout Noooooooooo.
Looks pretty shocked to me.

While everyone argues about the speed of ravens and which Home Depot the WW's forged their steel in, I wanted to take a moment to congratulate Emilia for her fucking great performance tonight. She's gotten a lot of shit over the years, mainly due to the writing of her character which, lets face it, has been less than stellar for these past few seasons. Her scene tonight was absolutely heartbreaking, and quite possible one of my favorite acting moments I've seen in 7 seasons. The pain on her face as she watches Viserion die...you see the evaporation of her armor and her sense of invulnerability in that moment. And when she began to break down, and tell Jon that she was barren...you really got to see her a different light, an actual mother, instead of just referring to herself as one. Just brilliant.
"I hope I deserve it." This has to be one of the best delivered, most touching lines of the entire series. Emilia Clarke was incredible in this episode. So was Kit Harrington.
I really enjoyed her performance with Jon resting on the bed. One of the best facial expressions I've seen from Clarke
To me the scene on the lookout tower with Jorah and then all her stuff with Jon at the end was where she really pulled out all the stops. I saw a completely different side of Dany - vulnerable, humbled, but still determined. Props to Emilia. She had me crying and I've never cried while watching this show before.
Lots of people, me included, clearly think she did a great job. I could write tons of criticism about this latest episode, but Clarke's acting wouldn't be part of it for once.

All of the actors in the show are reacting terribly to the precense of Dragons. Everytime they see a dragon for the first time they are just starting, maybe looking slightly scared, whereas in reality you would shitting your parents while slowly moving away from it - regardless of whether you thought it was on your "side" or not.

I’ve literally been with someone who found out their parent died and gone with them to view the body. Extreme, mind numbing shock is how I would describe it. Staring in disbelief seemed like the perfect response.
It's the little things in acting though... Staring like that is ok, but it's not good or great either. Emilia Clarke isn't a good actress, her range is incredibly low

Then pls link me a scene of her actually giving a really great performance. I really wanna know what you see in her acting because to me it is at best decent.
It really showed especially in the last few seasons because there we had a lot of great performances of other characters like Tywin, Tyrion, Stannis and even Jaime had great ones. It's funny that you even disagree with Emilia being somewhat mediocre, good for you that there is no right or wrong here
