Alliance was outplaying EG at every turn. Rewatch the games guys. Warding and movement patterns dictated everything. Draft meant nothing here.

I think it's much more likely that they were completely unprepared for how good Alliance would be playing. They didn't prepare at all to draft and play against them and their heroes in the grand finals. This patch was a huge buff to alliance. If it had been a best of 5 I think it could have gone to 5 games (but S4 rekt mid and that pretty much gg'd both games early on).

For as much as we talk about all of the big plays in the mid-game (especially the throws/bad team fights), so much of high-level dota is decided by the early ganking rotations. Once you build a lead, the top teams can simply play smart enough to hold onto that. Game 1 vs Alliance came down to the Top Radiant Tier 1 fight. If Sumail can get jumped in to get the Scream off and blow up the Wisp, EG would have cleaned up that fight and taken a sizable lead. Game 2 really came down to some very early ganks then Alliance just grouping up around the map for the next 15 minutes. By dragging out the game without being able to fight, EG couldn't use the Lasso + Zeus Ulti + Haunt combination to get constant pick-offs. That was legitimately the best defensive play I've seen in a game. Alliance read what EG needed to do, then prevented them from doing it. This also put EG just far enough behind that defending their Barracks didn't net them any gold. They came out behind in 3 straight defenses.
So, for EG, I imagine they'll look closely at what Alliance was doing against them. There seems to be an issue with mid-game vision on EG's side, which is probably why they picked Zeus in game 2. (Might see more Universe Beastmaster in the future.) Also, Alliance farmed the map supremely efficiently, so that's something else worth studying. It is a "new map", so there are things not completely figured out yet.
sumail has been having a terrible time mid this patch. It's clear his invoker is a tier below the top invoker players like Miracle and w33ha. He also has lost some mid match ups that equally skilled players should not have lost. I think the kid needs to take the next month and spam.

Maybe he is washed up and needs to retire. Isn't it how really dota works?

kinda agree, think sumail and ppd have looked the least sharp of the eg guys. its very small things to adjust to be on top of ur game again tho. btw, i think miracle looks alott better then w33, but I havent seen all secret games tho.
no doubt miracle is the best western mid skillwise right now. Im pretty sure alot of OG's dominance is the fact that he always is destroying mid and coming out of the laning stage making a huge impact

PPD is not a great player. He's a good player, but not a great one. He's a stellar captain, which makes up for it, but he's always going to be at his best when the relevant supports require very little mechanical skill and only moderate tactical skill (for example, defensive supports). So I wouldn't be worried if he isn't showing off a ton of skill; he just needs to figure out how to draft himself some simple and potent heroes so that he can focus more on what he actually lends to the team.
Sumail does seem to be slumping, though. They need to bump him down a level or two on hero farm and focus on playmaking. Probably he's just having a bad month. Everyone has those, and I can't imagine getting destroyed by the skilled and wily s4 helps.
Eg only plays well when the pressure is on. A great and awful trait to have at the same time. It's great cause they never get rattled when facing elimination and seem to always make memorable lower bracket runs. It's awful when they are in single elimination tournaments or when they fail to make a lower bracket run and look like trash.
boys looking alott better today, last game vrs LGD was a total stomp. and sumail got 15 kills in 23 mins :D gonna be good for him going up against miracle tomorrow. hope ill be able to wake up for the games vrs OG, starting really early for EU's. gogo eg!
