It's ridiculous that Alliance was even allowed to play in this tournament when they didn't even show up on time. Any other team would have been disqualified but for Alliance they delayed the entire tournament's schedule. Absolutely reeks of favoritism.

Oh well. At least S4 will choke at another major soon.

This is the EG discussion thread, not the Alliance discussion thread, no?

I really hope this loss sends a firm lesson about team unity to PPD. He's done well in getting a group of extremely talented and flexible players together, and he's somehow worked miracles in getting Sumail and Artour to work together on the same team, with things like Sumail Timber and RTZ Venge smoothing out their difficulties. I'll be honest, I half expected it to fail horribly, but the boys in blue surpassed expectations. The next step in EG's rise is for them to all show their immense native ability together, supporting one another rather than haphazardly throwing everything at the opposition. Team unity is what gives Alliance their bizarre ability to play the game so well, and EG would do well to follow in their footsteps. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's quite probable that PPD can beat Alliance just through drafting and strategy alone, but EG with proper player synergy will surpass all expectations.

I'm just surprised that EG got destroyed 2 games in a row, I haven't seen that since they lost to Vega in ESL.

Also, why did Arteezy insta-leave game with no GG so many times? I'm not sure whether to read into it or not.

EG got blitzed 3 games in a row, and never found the answer. The difference was, in the group stage they found enough team fight to fight back and almost throne it.

I feel as though EG still hasn't found their footing. They played a lot of different strategies, and made Sumail play a lot of different heroes. However, they still got 2nd and they are in 2-3 different LANs before Shanghai.

Arteezy stopped gg'ing a while ago. Not sure why.

s4 is awesome and the rest of Alliance did what was needed. Not much more analysis to add to the discussion beyond that. No team, not even EG, is good enough that they can go into a match against another good team and simply expect to win. It's all close, and Alliance has had the boost they need to get into the "top team" contention, and at this tournament they were the best. Doesn't really say all that much about EG themselves - there are a few drafting changes to make, a few playstyle changes, and of course they could have played better individually, but there are no major problems to address.

Big thing this tournament which no one seems to be talking about is that Universe didn't look great for the first time I can remember. Which isn't surprising - offlane has totally changed, it's the hardest thing to adjust to right now.

The coordination and synergy between the players seemed off in the match against Alliance. EG are usually very crisp when it comes to execution, but today they didn't execute at all. They seemed a bit lost and insecure. It reminded me of Secret v1 in TI5

they were lost because of the drafts. same shit went down as when they lost in TI4

i think everybody knows alliance had a set strategy that the knew front and back and everybody else didnt, and that was the difference for this event. interestingly enough a lot of teams turned their back on heroes that got them there in the first place

fortunately for the rest of the scene shanghai major is still a long, long way off

EG loses plenty of BO3. Too much freaking out about an event where they placed second as the mild favorite. Give them double elim and a BO5 finals and they'll do better.

Yeah are reading too much into it. Rtz just immediately leaves even in pubs win or lose.

I'll never understand the obsession with having to say GG in video games, and if not then you're a childish, BM, asshole. At this point, with it being said so much and it being expected to be said, it is meaningless.

When the switch happened, namely RTZ -> AUI, I was very supprotive. However, the patch is showing that perhaps losing Aui is not good. EG will suffer in this meta not having a good chen player. With someone like alliance you need to be able to ban Furion and LD and then pick up Chen first pick. Otherwise, if you give up either of those 3 alliance has players that are godlike on those heroes. This goes back to when if eitehr Akke got enchant/chen or bulldog got Furion the game was over. S4 will do S4 things (mostly pick up amazing runes and either draw or win mid) and it really doesnt matter what Loda does as long as he doesn't feed (which he's reasonably good at). EGM is also perfect in supporting these 4. Can't think of a better fit... This team just works... EG on the other hand, their players don't fit this patch at all. They will not win. RTZ tweet, as rude as it might be, is 100% spot on.

I don't really see saying please/thank you as the same thing as saying gg.

I say please when I'm trying to get someone to do something for me.
I say thank you when I'm pleased that someone did something for me.

One of these is a tool to get what I want, and one is me being legitimately happy that something was done for me.

Saying gg after every game is just being false to satisfy the communities desire.

the game it self ended with GG , if you dont type GG, its just like a pub games or you dont admit your lose, be free to not admitting your opponent is superior.
but we are now calling dota is sport , number 1 that matters in sport is attitude.
