Fnatic's invite is the least questionable compared to navi, og , alliance , LGD and col. Alliance invite looks good on paper now because valve somehow pulled the criteria that they also value wca and starladder for alliances invite which were before Shanghai major . MVP and Fnatic are the ONLY two SEA teams that deserve to be a major. When you invite both, another SEA team will come because you can't cancel the quals in any region. MVP won a international tournament, while Fnatic didn't despite having a good chances at ESL Manila, that's why people wanted them in the quals. No they didn't . most of the casters and analyst had fnatic in their direct invites list . they placed 5th at Shanghai major while beating OG ( which is in direct invites list ) and have been consistently the best team in sea since then beating mvp in 4 qualifier finals while getting 3rd/ 4th in ESL Manila..what more reason do u want for a team which is dominating their entire region including MVP Phoenix too? Can you read bro? I do not want a THIRD SEA team
That means either MVP or Fnatic should stomp the quals.

Alright boys, come to Manila
I'll treat everyone from this forum who's not a local a beer

DC in NA might turn out to be a good team. Don't think SEA has another good team, would suggest a Chinese team to play with bad ping in open qualifiers for SEA and maybe get a slot that way.

They should just invite 16 teams and call it Major Invitational. Why bother organizing qualifiers. Meh

12 invites... long live supremacy

Fnatic and col make sense if they decided to add a third na and another SEA invite. I still can't understand Navi getting a invite over well anyone. This seems like a blatant invite a fan favorite instead of team that deserves it more. And LGD over NB just seems dumb as well.

I understand the invite of Xiao8's team over Newbee.
Newbee is a team that goes from best to worst in a month. This was the team that won the international, and then straight down to the bottom they went for a year. As a person doing the invite, I wouldn't invite Newbee, because I wouldn't know which Newbee would show up. I don't want to invite the Newbee that was the worst team in tournaments in 2015, and I don't want to make them think that they could get away with what they did after 2014.
So I don't invite Newbee. I look at other teams. I can't invite ROTK's team because they're in open. So the only other choices of top Chinese teams are: Ehome and LGD. Ehome is the obvious choice. They won a tournament, after all. But I don't invite them, because 1) they don't have the same players they did when they win that tournament and 2) they didn't win even a game in the last tournament they went to. Ehome is out, so I get LGD, who has, with Xiao8, been able to do well in every tournament they went to, even though they never win.
In fact, I think this was going to be Ehome's invite. I think it was going to be them ever since their win before Shanghai. But it was changed, because they changed players, and then did bad in the first tournament they went to after the change. Had Cty not left, this was their invite. Had they done well in Manila, even coming in third, it'd have been their invite. But as it is, there was no way they were going to get the invite when they didn't even win a game.
Ehome's problem is their own, else Cty's, because at the end of the day, their decisions were what led to not having an invite, and I believe, not going to the tournament because I don't seen them getting in through qualify.

People thinking fnatic should be invited because of their win streak fail to realise that those wins were mainly against random sea teams. Yes they beat MVP too and good for them. But when given the opportunity to excel at an international lan, the team didn't perform. There's really nothing to show for fnatic.
|
But with that said, now comes what's hard:
Would Ehome have got the invite, had they not went to Manila?
Did they make a mistake going to this tournament?

i like the 12 invites. in dota it always felt like a gamble for teams to qualify for tournies.sponsors are scared to pick up teams.less stress for sponsors this time
|
I'm so happy with 12 invites. I've been advocating this for months, thanks Valve!
|
The bottom 4 invites look weak. Other than that, I'm looking forward to some great games in this Major.
|
not so much a fan of the 12 invites myself. Especially with new patch and all that would seem like a situation where you would want to increase the amount of teams that get in through quals recently rather than invite lots ahead of time.

Lmao I just realised, what has OG done since Frankfurt to warrant this invite

Jokes aside, that pretty much puts them on that ~8th spot if you don't have something else you want to invite.

+1
fnatic are the least bad SEA option I guess. valve are reluctant to completely shut a region out I guess.
