but i suppose they invited LGD since they placed 3rd in starladder while newbee didn't even join a single international tournament in the same timeperiod LGD got invited to sl over NB when NB was clearly a better team and epicenter the one event NB played qualifiers for and dominated hasn't happened yet so its just unfortunate for NB Damn And here i was thinking they'll be reducing the invite numbers,
TNC on Open qualifiers due to roster change iirc

LGD over newbee is so simple. LGD had an opportunity to prove themselves despite being shit locally, and they took their chances to finish 3rd. They didn't look that bad either.
Newbee has only been performing in local tournaments. Shit luck for them for not having the same opportunity as LGD to prove themselves, but they deserve it for being crap since ti4. I don't feel sorry for them, even if they don't make it out of the qualifier.
Ehome had a chance but blew it in spectacular fashion. Too bad for them. Like newbee, if they deserve to go to Manila, then prove it by winning the qualifiers.
Just realised that china loss 1 spot and now only have 4 teams going. Heh.
I feel alliance got really lucky with the invite because they have underperformed since winning starladder in January. OG too, but they're Frankfurt champions so maybe they deserve some luck.
Yay to col even though they have not won anything. They constantly showed their ability to go up against top teams, and I feel they are rightfully rewarded. Rave should have been in the same position last year, but were robbed by Fnatic.
Navi too got rewarded for being in good form at the right time. Excited and happy for them.
MVP and Fnatic both invited settles the issue of who should be invited. I'm still skeptical over Fnatic because they fucked up their opportunity at ESL. Winning against ehome is nothing great given how bad the latter was. After which they only have a good showing against empire. Still they're easily a class above all the other sea teams I guess.
Oh well you can't please everyone. Given a choice, I would revoke LGD, alliance and og and have the EU and Chinese teams battle it out for more spots.

Ahh so our friends at Valve counter troll us by inviting 12 people because even we struggled to pick 8...then LGD get invited and the world has gone mad!

Really dislike 12 invites. Considering how chaotic this transfer window was it would make more sense to invite 5-6 and let the rest duke it out in qualifiers. More teams making changes -> less certainty -> should mean less invites. Now it feels like some teams got direct invites because of what very well could be flukes in random tournaments which didnt even bring together the top of the top.
Yes, invites are fine given the decision to invite 12. But inviting 12 doesnt make sense.

shit now i'm seriously considering flying over to manila for the major

Nah I would rather see them expand the majors to include more teams and make it a longer tournament. 12 invites, 8 qualified teams and a 3 week LAN. That would be awesome. The problem with dota from a viewers standpoint is there are too many qualifiers and they are all boring as shit. I want the option of skipping them but still see several of my favorite teams in the main tournament with actual production value and hype!

20 teams lol. Its suppose to be a tournament where the best teams compete. Why add slots for the teams that can't even make it past the qualifiers?

Yes, invites are fine given the decision to invite 12. But inviting 12 doesnt make sense. It is funny because the best two teams made changed 2 players 2 days before the lock and got the invite anyway, so what is left for the weaker? Not a single commendable example.
Given that the lock "promotes" stability, it is meant to make teams refrain from changing players for the longest time. They should lock the rosters and then wait, if they are going to directly invite teams, until one month before the Major to release invites. What is the point of inviting teams that even tho they are composed of the best players they still didn't prove themselves.
Edit: a month seems like too much, two weeks maybe. But given how close the quals are it makes no sense.

Lets be real though
if na'vi alliance and to some extend OG were already qualified for invite.
valve wont have this 12 direct invite
They didn't shaft the obvious 8 invites, but those last 4 invites shafted 4 qualifier teams places which is already stacked ..idk how are u gonna justify that . These 4 invites were purely based on fanbases they bring in with them.
A big fuck you from valve to qualifier teams when they have done better than invited teams since a year. Just sad

Edit: What I don't understand is, if qualifiers are getting continuously harder why would they reduce the spots instead of extending them....

Yea ikr.. I am just extremely annoyed by the fact that 4 qualifier teams got shafted for fan fav teams just because bulldog and dendi will pull more people at stadium. That Chinese and EU qualifier is too much stacked for 1 spot and I can see atleast 8 teams there which can do better than navi , alliance and LGD at major

I really hope this will be the only time with 12 invites, I feel like valve just don't want to deal with the possible backlash from uninvited team's fans if they stick with 8 invites.
cause the way I see it navi, alliance, OG, and LGD did not deserve the invites at all. And lol at people still doubting fnatic invite, double standard much.

Alliance are up in the air, as are LGD however.

I also dont get those fnatic double standard some people talk lmao.I mean at this point they are either trying to make themselves look cool or trying to find another of those excuses just to point out how weak sea scene is.
