Progamers will have no problem getting practice on the maps, but what about the others? Players like 99% of teamliquid will have to resort to a system more primitive than Iccup because the custom game interface in Battle.net 2.0 doesn't allow for titles or game lobbies. The resulting disconnect between the pros and the average player/spectator could be quite harmful. For example, those hoping to one day break into the professional ranks would have no way of practising these new maps unless he had several practice partners of similar skill (a considerable luxury). Depends on what Blizzard's reaction is. Very possibly they will make a deal with GOM to delegate map pool duties to them and rotate the ladder map according to what is in the GSL at the time.

This might change with the introduction of chat channels though.

Once we have chat channels it won't be a problem. Just go to channel ICCUP or channel GSLmaps or whatever the designated place is and you will be able to find games.

still, they all look much better than dw, sow, bs, and jb, but i wouldn't mind if they tested a couple of the iccup sc2 maps, a few of those are really pro

Plus it's rather likely some of these will end up on the ladder, it seems the logical thing to do. Though as with everything it'll take a bit, at least until some major maps have been established.

thank you. thank you. thank you. this was my first time buying a season ticket, but now I know it will not be my last. It seems like only a couple posters have seen the obvious problem: no one will be able to practice these maps on the ladder unless Blizzard decides to use them. Progamers will have no problem getting practice on the maps, but what about the others? it's an invite tournament. while the rest of us are going to have to figure something out, Im ok with that at first until blizzard realizes that the community as a whole is so much larger that we will, in time, make far better maps simply because the level of talent is so ridiculously higher than even a monstrous 70 person post-dev team.
