Kessel might get a slight overpayment for those decline years, but I'd say he's worth the contract. He has played with less than stellar teammates for years and produced well. There are few snipers of his quality, and he has improved his overall game the past few years. The deal seems fine to me.
|
He's at his peak now sure, but I have a hard time believing he will stay in the top ten in points for many years to come. I sure as hell hope he continues to show what he did against Boston and continues to switch it up or else it will be a hard pill to swallow and everyone remembers those long term contracts are usually front loaded. This one isn't. It's 8 million flat per year. I'm sure he's beaming right now.
In other news rotating C's for the Sabres is back. Vanek will wear it at home while Ott has the honors when they're away, derp.
I guess Troy Bodie made the opening day line-up after all. Dude's engaged to Leiweke's daughter and he did play for Randy Carlyle before with the Ducks anyway, hue. Make of it what you will. I do like his physicality though.
|
The Habs 3rd line looks awesome. There is your future right there.
|
Parros why you trying to stand up after that? Jesus man. 2nd scrap between those two of the night. Habs getting roughed up even though they're holding their own and doing quite well scrapping!
|
well.. there goes our enforcer
|
We got lucky tonight. So far the same old problems look just as potent as last season. It's going to be a bumpy ride. -_- On another note I hope the Leafs learn something and decide against having a long opening cermony and just drop the bloody puck. If there is one thing I hope Leiweke changes it's that. Enough of the old and in with the new please, but somehow I doubt that. UGH. The passing of the torch the Habs did was long. They got a lot of good pictures for all the players for memorabilia I guess, but it's so cliché.

If you honestly believe that Parros doing a stage fight with x goon is gonna stop people hitting the midgets, I dunno what to say :/

Hey, hey Perros hitting the ice was all luck considering Orr slipped and then Perros got dumpstered on the ice. It sucks but shit happens. Old school hockey best hockey. It's not dumb when certain player's are trying to take liberties on your teammates bud. The players are good at enforcing themselves.

No it's pretty dumb, and I say that with Tinordi winning his fight, and guess what, it did nothing cuz it doesn't win games.

It helps change momentum: "Come on boys we have to get back in it!" It helps send a message to the other team & the fans-- "we're not going to be pushed around anymore. Come on folks let's get back into it!" This subject is so old and the reality is hockey isn't for the weak of heart. Especially when the guys keep getting bigger and the equipment is getting ridiculously out of hand. At the end of the day, players are going to fight. They're constantly jousting for position and when you get shoved around or someone hits you from behind. You bet your ass I'm going to get in the other guy's face.

So your only problem is the goon, goons rather than the players who are pretty good at all? Like Lucic. Unfortunately there are very few power forwards of that caliber let alone D men. Enforcers still have a roll in the game and they serve a purpose especially come playoff time. You don't want your team to get bullied around or else it's going to be an early playoff exit. -_-
Oh and one other thing.. for an enforcer Perros is actually pretty decent compared to most from what I've seen when he was with the Ducks and heck, he sure did bully the Leafs in their own zone. I'd say he did pretty good in his first game in a Habs uniform other than kissing the ice.

Overall, even if I think that it fucking suck that Parros got injured like that... I'm happy because I'm HOPING they give bournival some icetime. That guy is 20x better than ryan white

White's totally gonna get the time, cuz he can drop the gloves . I wouldn't mind being wrong tho.

I never heard anyone call Lucic bad before, lol. I think he's one of the best power forwards in the game today. The player's will fight. You can try giving them game misconducts right off the bat, but at the end of the day like I said before they will still fight and try to enforce what the referees cannot. If it's not that, you will see more player's taking certain liberties on other players for retaliation and I assure you it won't be any better LMAO.

I dare you ask every NHL player if they find them useless. Let me know the results, lol. The point is even the skill guys like having them on their team because these players know they can go out there and do their job without having to worry about looking behind their back all the time. It allows them to play to their full potential or else I could just bump them into submission literally and possibly take them out of the game.
