take out fighting of the game and players will retaliate with their sticks perezoghin style. its gonna be uglier than fights.
I was happy to see the habs enforcer go out in game 1, but it feels bad. Always looks better when you go down swingning.
Sunaj dude, Lucic is a fuckin beast. 29 teams would want him. Maybe you dont like him but hes great even though he doesnt score 80 pts.

I have too add something mostly useless to this thread. Mark Lee botched saying Dubynk and said Dubnykov instead. Love that name hahaha

lol.. How about Grabo in a Caps uniform? He always does that when he gets traded shrug. Not a Carlyle guy right Randy? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

so much for Edmonton's "this is the year we try not to finish the worst team in the league' plan huh.

Edmontons defensive play wasn't even that bad.
They only allowed 24 shots. In 3rd period they went in with a 4-2 lead and only allowed six shots, while getting 18 of their own.
Dubnyk basically gifted the game with a horrendous save % and three absolutely horrifically weak goals, and a fifth goal that while not necessarily his fault, he let out a really bad rebound like 10 seconds earlier in which he could have just killed the play. The third goal was a missed assignment, with traffic, alright I can live with that.
Still, three goals against just mediocre shots with no pressure, no traffic, and no real opportunity for second chances. Winnipeg didn't get any real strong chances except their fifth goal, and they were basically gifted four more goals.
Edmonton had most puck possession, most shots, more PPs, more hits... The Oilers dictated the game and its pace and the Jets were just along for the ride. Dubnyk just happened to have hi worst game of his career. If Oilers did't giftwrap some flowers, perfume, and a love letter for the Jets it was a 4-1 Oiler win at worst, and larger deficit if the Oilers managed to cash on one or more of their 10+ grade A scoring chances they didn't cash.
Good thing though, Eakins ripped them a new one on gifting the game.

He will hold them accountable. It's going to take a lot of time though. :/

Toronto at the top of the standings~

Edmonton did something they could never manage to do last season - win the possession game. Honestly, this loss shows a lot more positives than most of last year's wins. It's hockey and shit happens, but teams who consistently win tend to consistently out-chance their opponents.
Dubnyk had a rough night (I'm still an all-out Dubnyk-supporter) and Hall looked fairly lost at center. Having to count to 5 when you reach the blue-line in order to wait for Ryan Smyth's tired, old legs to catch up certainly doesn't help. I honestly thought it would be much uglier for a roster boasting one actual NHL centerman.
edit: One point of concern with Dubnyk is that he's a goalie who relies on his size moreso than his athleticism. And it makes me wonder how much the reduced pad size affects him. Either way, he has already put up a few strong seasons on very poor teams so I'm not about to get worried over a single outing.

That will be very short lived hue.

I think the Mac T effect will be good for the Oilers. I think this team will stop dicking around and will take steps forward.

Price looked off to, not just off the way he looked last season but positionally too. It will be interesting to see how Rinne and Hiller handle it that too.

Oh Carey was definitely off last night. It's going to be interesting to watch him throughout the season. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now until they hit mid-season form and get used to the new gear.

TOR's PK is looking good and aggressive. Otherwise PHI is dominating this game
|
Alfredson and Weiss invisible, Dan Clearly playing retardedly, Samuelson on the PP, Red Wings taking on a shit ton of penalties. Thank god they are playing the hopeless Sabers but this team is going to get fucked up by an actual NHL team.
|
Get outta here TOR, fucking goddamnit.
|
Got away with another one. Good news is Reimer and Bernier both had good outings.
|
Reimer and Bernier won those games for TOR otherwise they would be 0-2. Thank god for our goalies!

Streit and Timonen as your two best d men? At the cap without really understanding how you got there? If I were you I'd be getting ready for being a top 3 draft team. Which is actually good for you in the long term, the Wings will be just mediocre enough to get into the playoffs as a 7th seed before getting squashed if Howard has an off night or two thanks to Holland and his obsession with old men and Babcock and his obsession with Cleary.
