![]() Not the Black Swan from the movie, rather referring to the concept of Black Swan events from math/statistics. ![]() Another of his book which i read a while back. Quite a good read. "Writing in a leisurely and personal style that makes this complex subject utterly accessible, the author, Nassim Taleb, instructs us on how to account for randomness in our decision making, and illustrates the many ways in which we confuse luck with skill."

+ Show Spoiler [Quicksilver by Neal Stephenson] + As always, Neal Stephenson impresses me with his attention to detail and research. Some parts of the book definitely moved slowly (big reason why it took me 2 months to finish this) but the characters and plot were very entertaining. For those interested in an interesting view of the Enlightenment, this could be a great series. I plan on reading the other 2, but need to take a break with something different first. Reading now: + Show Spoiler [Glasshouse by Charles Stross] + Another one of my favorite current authors, I haven't gotten around to this book and have been meaning to for too long.

Also currently reading: for the above mentioned university degree. It's kinda dry.

![]() Game Cultures: Computer Games as New Media by Jon Dovey and Helen Kennedy Very good and interesting book. Required minimum reading to really comprehend what it is about: The Structure of Sociological Theory by Jonathan Turner The Information Age trilogy by Manuel Castells The Language of New Media by Lev Manovich Synthetic Worlds: The Business and Culture of Online Games by Edward Castronova Thankfuly, I had them all on my bookshelf ![]() Also: ![]() Horus Heresy series are truly epic. Just finished: ![]() EVE: The Empyrean Age by Tony Gonzales I must say I was rather reluctant to start on it. It was gathering dust on the shelf for almost a year before I gave it a chance. I was very pleasantly surprised. After a bit of a slow start it launches into epic, large scale political thriller. It is pretty well written, has a lot of surprises and plot twists in it, which makes it even better. All kept in a dark and gritty hard SF tone. It's also not for children as sex and violence in it, while not abundant, are pretty graphic. Really great debut by Gonzales, will definitely keep an eye out for more of his works from now on.

![]() Seriously, if you are even the tiniest bit interested in horror fiction and are not put off by a good dose of pessimism, do yourself a favor and hunt down a collection of Thomas Ligotti's stories. Grimscribe is the only one of them I have yet to finish (three stories in right now) and it almost makes me sad that after I'm done with this one, there will be no more of this incredible author for me to discover.

![]() A Clash of Kings - Loved it. Really like where the series is going so far. Even though I hear it goes downhill, I picked up A Storm of Swords and A Feast for Crows today. Can't wait to continue the series ![]() Reading Now: ![]() The Art of Learning - Heard about it in the qxc video so I got this awhile ago. Already pretty interesting and alot of the stuff in it you can apply to pretty much anything competitive, including Starcraft. Reading Next: I'm so bad with choosing the next book I will read so I won't bother lol. Will probably continue the ASOIAF series though with A Storm of Swords. ![]()

I have only read up to around page 200 something from over 800 pages but I have to say that Jordan is an incredible author. The text really draws you into the story and you actually care for the characters. Looking forward to the other books. + Show Spoiler + ![]()
