This game is 6 months old, if GOM decides to rent out a huge stadium for some games between NesTea and Maka and think it'll attract a big audience, that's their mistake. I don't think they had these immense opening days for previous seasons either, and were held at their regular studio. I'm sure it'll be fine and really isn't that much to worry about.

They locked out SC2 and made a dedicated server with no LAN and a stupid regional lock. There has also been 4 tournaments in 4 months which is saturating the fans way too much way too fast!

How does this affect viewership? Would only affect players.

They also want people to watch their streams so they can get more accurate numbers to show to potential companies. If you are waking up at 4am to watch SC2, how is $10 overpriced? You get so many hours of content its not even a contest. It is probably the cheapest entertainment in history, ever. I think its overpriced because BW was free and that set the standard. I'm not paying money to watch Starcraft games and pay for some undeserving unskilled player prize money (remember everyone gets some prize money just getting to the ro32), and not paying so Gom can rent out these stupidly big locations for no reason all while its FREE for Koreans.

Also, I do deserve a medal since I am not supporting sc2 ![]() It comes in when you do not remove the words "real growth" and also the meaning of the sentence. You deserve a kick in the ass for not being supportive of SC2, and another one for missing the point.

Maybe if it was every 2-3 months people might be 'refreshed'.. They do say absence makes the heart grow fonder.

For example, FIFA world cup would not be the same if it were held every single year instead of 4 would it? The wait, build up, and the anticipation really makes a difference.

As someone who lives in Korea I agree with all three of these posts. BTW, I think the Code S/Code A format is confusing, and it really detracts from the hype. It's the wrong way to go about it imho.

Maybe if it was every 2-3 months people might be 'refreshed'.. They do say absence makes the heart grow fonder. I think there's a lot of truth to this. The GSL is a good thing, but there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Probably the thought was to jump start the proleague with lots of tourneys, then you got to keep up the momentum, by continually running tourneys. But in any sports, there is such thing as the viewer fatigue. There are always the hardcore fans that watch every single game. But a lot of people only watch the playoffs. There's a reason why the superbowl is such a big deal for advertisers. Everybody is watching it. The fact that this is a special event that everyone is watching means that most of the time not everyone is watching. There is also the off-season. The sports fanatics will watch anything (the lesser leagues or watch an entirely different sport.) But everyone else will stop watching until it matters. I'm a Canadian, but really only watch hockey during the playoffs and only if my friends are watching- and it's the Canucks. Same thing with Starcraft. They probably need some breathing room in between seasons. But also between rounds. Anticipation is just as important and far better than being inundated with mass gaming. GOM misjudged how big of the event it would be. Bad PR mistake, but I don't think it spells the end of SC2. It's just Blizzard and GOMTV are probably trying to push to hard to fast, hoping to get it to the level of SCBW's zenith. But that will probably take time... and better maps.

EDIT: Keeping this in the spoiler, but for easy watching... + Show Spoiler + OMG this is the first BW pro match I've ever watched and it was awesome. I wish the GSLs had that kind of atmosphere and crowd, as well as matches that good. There are some epic GSL matches but just so much all in crap it's kinda boring to watch. These days I prefer to watch pro replays from ladder/practice games, they almost always get to mid game at the very least. It seems more than anything that the tournament mentality is the cause for bad spectator games rather than the maps (though from what I've heard it's not the case in BW so there goes that theory...).

Now all the big Chinese sc sites, there are near 0 replies in sc2 news. ppl are simply not interested anymore. That might have something to do with the fact that SC2 hasn't even been released in China....
