I personally think if OGN and MBC had the rights SC2 would be so much better.

I do agree though that watching SC2 is losing its appeal due to:

- The game is too fast, one mistake and there are 50 lings in your base or 20 stalkers warping in. I think they need to slow down the macro mechanics somehow, especially warpgate and larvae inject.

-Average game length is 5 minutes, cheese is so strong in this game that we are now at the point where the players aren't to blame. The other contributing factor is the absolute shithouse maps. Not only are they tiny but on larger maps close positions means a 5 minute game is coming up.

-Lack of chat channels, everyday that passes is killing the community. I would imagine that alot of people don't play this game anymore because Bnet feels so empty.

-Crap custom games search interface, when you are not in the mood for a competitive game you want to relax with custom games. But in it's current state it's so hard to find good new games because the system is so bad. It's always the same games on the list and remakes of BW and WC3 maps. Where are all the original games that this editor was going to show? Well you won't see it with this stupid popularity system.

My suggestions to slow the game down:

1)BIGGER MAPS

2)Protoss - can only warp in units around your nexus, this stops all the BS warpgate cheeses and proxy allins. It also makes warp prisms more useful.

2)Zerg - for larvae injection:
hatch = 2 larva
lair = 3 larva
hive = 4 larva

3)Terran - cooldown on mules.

It's unclear whether this situation is common with a new RTS e-sport or how long you have to wait before things catch on. We can basically compare it to WC3 in Korea (a failure) or BW in Korea. But you have to go extremely far back, and the number of people with extensive knowledge about 1999 BW in Korea is so low.

Blizzard tried to half ass it. If you want to be evil, you have to go all the way.

If they weren't going to work WITH OGN/MBC/Kespa they should have worked AGAINST them and torpedoed the entire BW scene in Korea with lawsuits out the wazoo. BW is their intellectual property, they can change licensing rights.

Either they play with these guys or they stop them from playing altogether. They don't feel that Blizzard has any right to its own creation and IP so they deserve to suffer for that. Kill BW in Korea. Make all of them lose their jobs and go to work doing menial labor in the IT industry.

i think your hitting and important note, it's the speed and actionpack'ness of SCII that really hurts it. Tbh i think it's a shame that a more fast paced non stop action game is hurting the game more than it helps

i wish SCII could stay as it is, but with people figured out how to play as of know without the games always ending

Anyone else just feel the units are really boring? I felt this way when beta first started....there are very few OSHT units. Colossus take much less micro than a reaver, for example...and reavers are more costly making them even more OSHT when they're lost.

Blown way out of proportion...

It was just a stupid move by GomTV to hype their opening ceremony like they did and rent a stadium for it.. I think I wouldn't go there even if it was right around the corner.

Unlike your suggestions for Terran and Zerg which were great, this is idiotic. Have you ever played Protoss? How do you defend against drops that aren't in the immediate vicinity of your Nexus?

Most of the cheese is coming from Terran these days. Bunker rushes and SCV+Marine all-ins are hurting the game.

Warp Prisms are made of glass and can never be useful enough to compensate for proxy pylons.

They need to figure out some other way of nerfing cannon rushes. They already did something about pylon blocking ramps in 1.2.

They need bigger and better maps, and absolutely need to strengthen the armor of the Warp Prism. The speed upgrade makes it so fast, it's great, but it's pointless when it can be taken down in a split second.

Brood War is Blizzard's intellectual property. They have a right to stop others from making a profit off of it. They've been benevolent and have turned a blind eye to Korean e-sports, but now that they want to be a player, they might need to play rough if the other entities (OGN/MBC/Kespa) refuse to respect Blizzard and what they have a right to do in defense of their property. If they're that much of a problem and won't negotiate fairly, punish them for it.

They should make viewing online free. I refuse to pay money to watch a game online. Hence why I couldn't give a crap about gsl etc...

SC2 is harder to watch (at least in my monitor). And the game is a bit too all-in-ish and fast-paced.

We'll see where it is in 5 years, when all the expansions are released and all that stupid fighting over broadcasting rights settles down. The game is incomplete right now.

what exactly do you think the current lawsuits are?

at any rate it's really the coward's way out. beat them fairly or it's never gonna work - if Blizzard kills SCBW, it's not like SCBW fans will happily and willingly go watch SC2. the only way to kill SCBW is with a vastly superior game - SC2 is not a vastly superior game.

To be honest the whole code A code S thing and however they are running the tournament after last season has me confused.

I'm sure it would only take me like 30 secs to read up on how it works, but for some reason i cant be bothered. I have watched the last 3 GSL's religiously.

Maybe their weird tournament layout just has people saying wtf?

Cant really understand why a new tourney layout would make me feel like this but...for now i cbf

I second, or third or w/e this. I do however still love to watch the GSL myself, hope the Korean community will get a good boost sometimes soon

It's easy,make warpgate produce less than normal gateways.
Like the cd on something is 10 secs longer than producing that unit directly.
