Huge success. I think we got combined viewership close to ~3K viewers which is insane for NA.

This time we did super ace = most wins, which was Boa and Stryker. Next time, we will "roll" the conditions as (most wins, most losses, random), then proceed, so there's more suspense for final match.

I don't know how evenly matched the NA participating players are, but in the KR major proleague you have the random super ace match on the theory that these are the "best" players so a random matchup is justified.

In the KR K-League, they incorporated the "most wins/losses" system to avoid a super unbalanced final match where there's more disparity in skill between the players (and winning and losing is based more on the randomizer than skill)

Also one of the fun elements of the proleague randomizer is everyone going to the person's stream and watching who gets picked in suspense

Links to the KR ladder randomizer (apparently not used as much bc it's not completely equal odds):

Another observation (just my two cents), I know Artosis is going off on his own to do solo casting during the matches (which of course is his prerogative and content building, etc) but IMO the spirit of the Proleague format is to cheer on your teammate during the match and also to discuss strategies/meta in real-time (a lot of KR pros exchange tips and observations over discord which helps improve each others' gameplay). Also the Koreans try not to leave only 2 people on a discord call by themselves because it's usually awkward with only 2 people unless they have a really good relationship/chemistry. This is why in KR 3:3 proleagues they usually just do one discord call with both teams in the same voicechat to avoid awkwardness. Again just my two cents from watching a ton of KR proleague is that the discord interaction is just as important as the gameplay to draw in viewers.

In any case, good luck to all those particpating and organizing!

Thanks for the post and info, that was helpful. Always learning more about what makes the events fun and exciting is good, and we'll try to integrate these components the best we can! I like the idea of having a centralized location to figure out the randomizations. I can float that to Artosis.

In regards to Artosis going off to do solo-casting, he's doing this so that he can also piece out each game + upload them to his YT channel. While we lose the collective banter, at least we get a high-quality VOD with dedicated casting for people to keep up with if they're unable to make things live. Also, can help build some awareness over the event at large with his YT audience. It also "doubles" as content for his channel to make the incentives work out so to speak, since most of the time he isn't actually playing for the entire event.

That said, it's worth exploring integrating the banter and crazy talk into the actual games themselves. I guess it depends on what his YT audience wants - a clean VOD with slightly professional casting or a bunch of banter within the team? I can toss the idea to him, but I see the merit of building story-lines with more proper, clean casting.

I am logging the results on Braacket so we can use a Glicko ELO system to keep track internally. However, this doesn't show the actual teams and specific results for each set. Link: https://braacket.com/league/napl/dashboard

Admittedly, I do need some admin help getting these results on Liquipedia, if anyone wants to volunteer . Below is the current pro league history

i agree, i would much prefer team banter like in korean proleaagues to solo-casting during proleagues

Agree as well. Artosis did a great job in the one video i watched. But in the long run i d rather watch the banter, esp since otherwise I do not have a massive interest in those games since I ve only become NA recently.
Now those games with the banter would be amazing since A) you get more involved in the games and get to know the players (particularly valuable to non NA viewers) and B) you learn stuff as viewed by the players themselves, each of them having a fresh perspective.
One possible option would be a toggable window/sound stream between either artosis voice or "the banter"? I have very limited casting knowledge but it might be doable?

I'm curious, why'd this guy get banned? Is it because he's like a smurf of a banned user or something? I don't think he said anything egregiously incorrect.

There's a Minor Pro League tonight (30 mins from now) at 5:00pm PST at twitch.tv/gypsy93, tune in!

As for VODS:

Major Pro League 1
Proleague -

Winner's League -

Super Ace -

The banter stuff is a good idea but ultimately it's up to Artosis.

not sure if there were other streams today. But for easier discoverability you could @ others' streams in the stream titles. That makes them clickable and easy to find. Makes it easier than checking who in the SC section may be a participant. ofc adds the burdon and gathering everyone's twitch handle and check whether they plan on streaming

Previously banned user is why and one who has stubbornly tried to circumvent their ban since day one, so it's auto ban regardless of what he says.

Really awesome to see something like this starting up. I had a class with Hawk at university so naturally I have to root for him haha. Thank you for putting this together!

K-League meaning
This is because the major proleague has been likened to the Champions League in soccer. K League means Korean professional soccer league.
Nevertheless, it is very fun to use the K-League title as is in this content.
