Dear Santa, I wish 3 things for my BW:
1. proper window-fullscreen mode (like in sc2) to alt-tab instantly without all my colors go to shit.
2. proper network handling so anyone could create and join games and no noobs could set "extra high latency" and ask me to do the same too after that (LOL).
3. ladder auto matchmaking (but not bnet2.0).

To all unlimited unit/buliding selection fans: You can only select one unit in Moba's and look how far it got them.

You may say im joking but there is something in forcing people to focus on less rather than more.

I love that latency thing hahahaha. And when you tell them that one person can change it for the whole game and they don't believe you? One guy said, "Why don't you just change it? What does it hurt?" Hahahaha. Also the fact that most of them don't even understand what latency IS. Ah, good times.

Anyway, this is a very solid list of requests that I can get behind.

MBS fans are people who's most likely never played BW seriously and probably wont, they only plan to play it for 2-3 days when it comes out before moving on to the next game, it's the last group you should listen to.

to everyone in favour of mbs and other sc2 features: it wlll NEVER happen and that is final.

simply because blizzard knows the korean BW community will not accept a bw version that is even slightly changed in gameplay from the original broodwar
if it would be changed in the slightest matter that would result in blizzard being lynched by the online community

16 by 9 will happen no matter what, they won't release a game with only 4 by 3 in 2017.
The important part is how they do it, I made a mockup of proper 16 by 9 (imagine this with higher res sprites etc):

I think we can all agree that the second option would be an absolute no go. The first one would make macro slightly easier for p/t, but I'd say it's a compromise that'd have to be made. You could also do 16 by 9 by decreasing the field of view, but I don't think that's in anybody's interest.

Great post, Lorch. Really highlights what I've been talking about in regards to this issue, and I appreciate you conceding that this would have an effect on gameplay. I would like to add that even in the "optimal" 16 : 9 setting that you presented, this would give a defender's advantage to positions 1 and 7 on FS more than it does 5 and 11 because of the awareness of incoming aerial harass on the natural mineral lines and the facility of transferring probes with a wider screen. Although some people say this will not have a major impact on the game, I think that when considering that bases 1 and 7 already have a certain positional advantage in PvZ, we can conclude that even slight changes can definitely skew playstyles based on positions.

I can't really argue much against your points. This is all pretty obvious stuff. Yes, you see more of the game, you see more buildings, you see more units.
Is it so impactful that you would say to potential buyers "fuck you and your standard 16 : 9 monitor", in 2017?
It's like hotkeys really. Yes, maybe some races, in some situations, will benefit more from having a more comfortable layout than BW's original one. Would this balance delta even matter against balance variations brought by... maps, for example?

If Blizzard really has BWHD in the works, and most BW players are like you and can't accept this kind of tradeoffs, then yes indeed, this release will not go well :D.

Edit: Also lol at thinking Blizzard would go for the screen-res hack kind of view. I'm sure they're like "yes, let's do a 4x zoom out, they'll like it!".
