They more or less implied they were making Diablo 1 HD, when in reality it turned out to be some weird time limited Diablo 1-like episode completely within Diablo 3. I mean to be fair, I don't think anyone actually thought that who actually watched the presentation.

And if pro's don't switch, their fans won't switch, which encompasses the entirety of Korea, the major instigator for this very remaster in the first place! Grubby doesn't even play wc3 in 16: 9 even though w3arena supports it. Pro's very much value comfort and familiarity.

Edit: it took me less than 10 sec to multi-facepalm myself after reading the content there.

Anyone who thought it would be anything else than what we had in January is terrible at listening and comprehending. The presentation very clearly stated what they were going to give us in the next patch/season, and we got just what they said. And it was still a lot of fun, imo.

To be fair, there were rumors swirling around about a Diablo 2 remake prior to Blizzcon. I think most of that just piggybacked off of the BW:HD rumor that didn't end up materializing then, plus all the evidence pointing to Blizzard wanting to update their legacy games and possibly bring them to the B.net launcher. I think everyone just let the hype get out of hand. However, a real BW:HD announcement could still mean good things about remasters for the other legacy games, besides Warcraft 1 and 2 which I heard just won't get remastered according to a Q&A at Blizzcon.

I think everyone just let the hype get out of hand. However, a real BW:HD announcement could still mean good things about remasters for the other legacy games, besides Warcraft 1 and 2 which I heard just won't get remastered according to a Q&A at Blizzcon. A whole bunch of the diablo subreddit seemed to have railed themselves up for no reason, thinking BlizzCon would reveal Diablo 4, or at least a massive D3 expansion. For weeks after BlizzCon it was nothing but shitposts crying about how disappointed they were by everything that was announced. Personally I thought it was great, it showed that they still poured lots of resources into D3, despite the few seasons before being rather lackluster, when it came to new content. The same thing happened last summer with so many people on here. Now, 6 months later, it's the same story, people just arguing the same things again and again and many hyping themselves into believing something about a remake. Diablo 2 got their patch a year ago to enable support on newer OS's, and that may very well be what is coming for BW, seeing the 1.17 ftp discovery last summer. All the Remake and HD posts never show any leaks or proof, just sensational headlines to get hits on their articles and make money from ad revenues. It may be something around this, but maybe the big announcement was just that BW is part of the SSL.

Smart cast science vessels would be hilarious. Obviously templars as well but at least they dont fly around in huge clumps of death :D

It would be interesting if BWHD is 'just'... modern OS support bnet upgrades (sidegrades? downgrades?) bug fixes customizable keys upped res to 1280x960 (everything scaled up equally, i.e. same view, just higher res) same 4:3 aspect ratio Would ppl still bitch about that? Or just be happy that an 18-year-old game got some well-earned love? (btw, dumb joke: "Why didn't Blizzard give BW any love 'til now?" "Cuz it was underage.") ![]()

Or just be happy that an 18-year-old game got some well-earned love? That would make me pretty happy, although I think the max resolution needs to be at least double that. 960 vertical is already way out of date. Also, widescreen for campaigns/obs mode/UMS would be a pretty reasonable addition. There's also a big opportunity to add more tilesets, more doodads, etc. I think one thing that's actually really good about SC2 is that the maps look great* and are very visually diverse. *except for the art direction problems that plague the entire game, but w/e edit: On this topic, I'm sure mappers would appreciate having things like reverse ramps and the ability to mark tiles as unbuildable without accidentally making them high ground/cover available by default.
