He said that his condition weren't up to 100% that day. Bisu was feeling under the weather that day.

Doesn't seem like too great of groups for Killer or HiyA, hopefully Ground Zero helps HiyA out a bit.

Good opportunity for Jaedong to randomly lose a ZvZ and drop out of another Starleague, but hopefully he's over that stage now.

Shine's group looks kinda hard, though. This lack of Protoss is bad for the ZvP master.

Not sure about "randomly" (might be deterministic based on which prelim group they were in), but not streamed. Only group selection for the OSL (MSL, RIP) proper is streamed (for OSL, it's Ro16; for MSL, it was Ro32.)

I just realized something. No Group Selection Ceremony.

You'd think they would do that MSL-style selection.

It would create more drama, more story lines and increase fan interaction. --,--

Why everyone thinks Sea is going to fall?

Sea was always been a strong Proleague player, and a terrible individual leaguer. However, this season was awful for him in terms of Proleague scores, that does mean just 1 thing:

Neo Flash incoming you heard here first. Sea going to destroy every1, beating Jangbi in the final in the last game with a Ghost/Valkyrie/Firebat composition.

What is meant under Set 1 and Set 2 as Ground Zero?! Two first sets on the same map? Its ground zero, terran favored map, how is it possible?
Every match is bo5? As I see Set 3, Set 4, Set 5.
Bisu,Best,Stork,Jangbi and Flash, Fantasy, Leta, Light and Jaedong, Hydra, Zero, Soulkey assemble in ACE now!

I believe this follows general group stage format. Every match is a Bo1. You have the first 2 players playing set 1, then the second 2 players playing set 2 (both on Ground Zero). Then winner of set 1 players winner of set 2, and loser of set 1 plays loser of set 2 (both on Electric Circuit). Finally, the loser of set 3 (winner's match) plays the winner of set 4 (loser's match) on Gladiator. The winners of Sets 3 and 5 advance.

I do know that Hiya got special permission (pro lisence) to compete in this OSL without a team.

Who will Hiya practice with to prepare for the OSL?

He must have some progamer friends who will help him out. With the inbetween season I'm sure they'll have some time to spare for him.

On a not unrelated tangent, it's so nice to have BW on during the off season!!

Good opportunity for Jaedong to randomly lose a ZvZ and drop out of another Starleague, but hopefully he's over that stage now.

Shine's group looks kinda hard, though. This lack of Protoss is bad for the ZvP master.

Did anyone mention in this thread before that Hiya might be drafted again to a team for the coming of SC2 to the Proleague?

He practices both BW and SC2, right?

Wasn't he planning on going into the military instead of playing SC2? At least that is what he said in his last interview. Apparently, he reconsidered doing SC2 after getting demolished by ForGG off-racing as Zerg. He has complained numerous times that he isn't very good at SC2 and the transition has been harder than expected.

But I dunno. I haven't heard from him since that last interview. Before that, he said that if he does play SC2, he would prefer to play on a KeSPA team, but the interview seemed to confirm that he had given up on transitioning into SC2, unless he has changed his mind since then.

I heard that story, too. Transitioning might have been difficult since there wasn't any coaches or team members to help him analyze his play.

Also, Hiya? Wtf? I thought he was done? Hmm.

Part of me wants every zerg to win, just to watch TL groan. :DDD (Actually enjoys zvz)

But....

Flash, Baby, Stork, Zero, Roro (sorry JD!), Last to win respectively. Not making guesses on the second place advancements. These groups are pretty interesting. I would hate to liquibet this one.

It seems stories of Hiya retirement were greatly exaggerated.

Good group for Jaedong, would think he can beat Rush, even though the map statistics favor terran. And his zvz has returned somewhat, and neither of those zerg has a winning zvz record.

Hoping to see Flash Calm.

Even though there is only one Starleague now I would still suggest to use "OSL" instead of "Starleague" in the title because it is just kind of confusing like this. Everybody is talking about "OSL" and not "Starleague", so we should also write it down like that. Just my opinion of course.

Really fear for Jaedong here. Will he bring JvZ or will he bring ZvZ that gets destroyed by players like Hyuk and Juni?

I'm liking Stork's chances of advancing. His vZ has really improved this season and Bogus has not been playing well.

anytime,pusan,savior,1a2a3afou,neox clan, take your pick.

Did you really suggest Hiya practicing with Savior? Holy F would that create some new Hybrid metagaming for how Terran is approached.

Not sure about "randomly" (might be deterministic based on which prelim group they were in), but not streamed. Only group selection for the OSL (MSL, RIP) proper is streamed (for OSL, it's Ro16; for MSL, it was Ro32.)

Generally you will find the links to the streams in the respective Live Report threads when we get closer to the actual games. Here's the LR-thread for Group A. I'm sure the rest will pop up in the BW Tourney sub-forum in time.

Otherwise, just note the dates and times for the games and check the sidebar for streams when the games go live.

Man if Jaedong loses to hyvaa and Rush and drops out I'm going to puke and cry. I have this irrational hate for hyvaa. I hoping for Horang2 to bring some noise but with mostly Zergs in his group he is going to need to step it up a notch.

He might just get potentially eliminated yet again because of ZvZ and with Hyvaa to boot.

HiyA has been streaming Brood War on Afreeca virtually seven days a week since November (even on Christmas day and NYE). I've never seen or heard any mention of him playing SC2 since that retirement interview and I don't really understand how he'd find the time.

Hiya's retirement interview (read: no one signed me, so fuck this) shows that he was playing SC2 for a bit, and quickly rose in the rankings after catching his footing, but then he said he sort of gave it up after a bit.

I think you misread what he said.

Kjw said that he has been playing BW very consistently since November, not that he never played sc2.

In addition, Hiya really is streaming BW on Afreeca a lot so factoring in sleep and other basic functions, it'd almost be impossible for him to practice much sc2 anyways.

I think this time, the best storyline one can ask is for Hiya to win the OSL. A teamless guy winning OSL, surely will inspire a lot other progamers that it is not exactly necessary to be on a team to win a league. Although this might reset the training in a team environment but in one we will be back at square one. Then to build the scene again from the bottom upward.

Lot of ppl thinks Starleague refers the individual leagues, the only starleague is the OSL, because OSL stands for OnGameNet Starleague while MSL stands for MBC Game Starcraft League ^^

Every match is bo5? As I see Set 3, Set 4, Set 5.

Thank you very much. Kiett!!!

Jaedong, best BW player ever. Best player ever.

I don`t understand, did anyone ever said that Jaedong is not the best zerg?

I didn't understand either. But for a while people were at least trying to say that.

Until Hydra/Zero/Soulkey/whoever goes and wins a golden mouse I don't think anyone can argue that. The only person who you could possible make the argument vs JD would be Savior...

Why should he give up his spot? HiyA never retired. He was forced into a teamless position when his original team disbanded. If anything HiyA deserves this chance to get far so that a team can see that he's still a valuable player to Brood War.

It wasn't that no team was interested in Hiya at all but that they didn't want to pay him 50millonWon, which was what he was previously earning at Oz. There was one team that showed interest but they were only willing to pay two thirds of that amount (according to Hiya on Afreeca). However, Hiya wanted to go to Khan but Khan didn't make him an offer and at that time he was really mentally quite drained because his father had passed away not long ago. So even though Coach Han (ex-Oz, currently Team 8) offered to help him find a place in another team, Hiya declined.

But that was almost 5 months ago. I think if he does well at the ODT and a team offers him a place, he won't decline.

I hope Khan makes an offer if he shows himself in good form this OSL. It would be another reason to love Khan.

Man, I'm in full support of all these guys who lost their old teams (Team 8 don't really count, sorry).

Hiya
Jaedong
Sea [he qualified?! GREAT!]

I love'em all, they're great, really talented, I don't wanna see them go, and get replaced by lesser players (or even worse, go to /that other game that has more money/ ), just because those other players have job security and salary from a big team. Enlarge the game formats, make it all BO7, more games more broadcasts (more costs too) but more time for lesser players to grow. Yes it's important for + Show Spoiler [SPL spoilerrruz] +
ssask to play, but when his record is 3-17, and in the GRAND FINALS that goes to 3-18, and yet you've got players like Sea, BaBy or HIYA floating around without real security, that shit's dumb bro. No hate on ssask, SKT1 4 life, but I was jus a little dissapoint
lesser players to play, but don't let the to-be-stars fall in the dust for avoidable issues. I'd be fine with the bigger players taking a bite and dropping out, even if this is a last Starleague of few left, just for the glory of seeing Sea make it one. last. time.
Would beat infinetly seeing Last Rush mini or Alone in the same spot ^^

If hiya even makes it past prelims and possibly ro16, there's hope that he'd be picked up again...

i certainly hope his time off bw progaming sobered up his salary ambitions... it would be great to see him regular season again

I just realized that this is the worst possible group for Jaedong. ZvT on Ground Zero and then he'll have to dodge bad luck against whoever his zerg opponent is.

HiYa will be eliminated easily. No way he can beat Zero. Horang2 it will be strong opp too. Modesty is in great shape i believe (his game vs flash was very good) It will be interesting group i predict hiya 3 or 4 place in the group.

After watching him destroy best in the finals I just REALLY want to see him play again
I know that hoejja was on fire throughout the whole playoffs but DAMN, that ZVP was sooooo impressive
