So this will probably be a very simple and straight forward thread but its something id like to discuss. The grander portion of my day is focused around starcraft 2, when i wake i load up tl first and check the news, log on battle.net early and idle on there most of the day in a forum chat channel, discussing sc2 with those who are on (i work for a company which allows me to do the majority of my work from home). Usually ill squeeze in a few games, or if the workload is very minimal ill do some power laddering, a recent spell of this resulted in 55 games or so in the day, great fun was had. During the beta i was a huge huge stream watcher, seldom was there never a stream on my monitor, from randoms to pros, to amateur tournaments to dreamhacks and mlgs. The stream watching has slowed down some recently, but there are a few ladder streams ill do my best not to miss, or if i do ill catch the vods of them later and have them on the background while i work.
Now the reason i pose this question is simple, i read alot of teamliquid, reddit, penny arcade and neogaf sc2 threads and the general sentiment seems to be a group of people intensely passionate about the game, but equally divided in opinion on many things, from balance to players to controversies to teams to the regions etc etc. This thread isnt for discussion about that, this is more to garner some people together who, through all sc2's faults (and everyone can name a few for sure), just fucking love the game, the community and the access we get to it 24/7 if we so desired.
So who is with me? Sc2 is a pretty bitching game isnt it! What do you love about it?

starcraft and starcraft 2 now is and always was what fifa world championship is for me...
i'm not good at football, i usually don't care too much about football either.
but occasionally i watch some interesting matchups, sometimes even watch a game live!
but what i really like about it is the stuff that comes with it, you know. the awesome mood around it, the people, the stories, the history, some rumors...
a bit hard to describe but i think some may get what i mean

Simply too much to list, sc2 is that awesome. Of course everything tl related, epic matches with friends and streams and State of the game and tournaments and GSL and.. yeah I could go on for ever with this  like I said, simply too much to list.

I actually love it. It's shaped me so much. It is a fundamental part of who I am, and there's not a lot to do about it now.
I love Day9 so much, he's actually an idol of mine :D

I grew up on this shit man, I played the original starcraft from about 8? And my first RTS, the demo of the original Age of Empires (Fuckin baller I know right :D) that I got in a CEREAL BOX. I played BEFORE I COULD READ. I mucked around and had no idea what the fuck I was doing, but still. I was 5 years old.
To be honest I only love vikings, I want my reavers back! D:

yep.... I loved broodwar but i never understood that it could be such a competitive game, I just thought koreans were weird for having big tournaments. In the SC2 beta, learning the game at the same time as everyone else allowed me to stay competitive. Now, I'm completely enthralled by the game, the more you learn the more there is to learn. What's awesome about sc2 is you can enjoy it on many levels, from laddering, to watching streams, playing competitively, relaxing in UMS games... There is even so much of the game that is purely thinking about strategy without actually playing
Every other game seems dull compared to starcraft

Don't play Z, but I love long games. It's obviously better if they're competitive, but I enjoy taking the whole map and macroing as hard as I possibly can regardless.
