Real Time Mafia

Introduction: Mafia is an educated guessing game of epic proportions. The objective of the game is to lynch or kill all mafia members before they outnumber the rest of the town. It's much like a game of poker because mafia members are also part of the town during the day and may manipulate the vote to their liking. If the mafia at any time outnumber or equal the townspeople, they win. The town's goal is to lynch all the members of the mafia.
The game is typically very active, so the thread will get big quickly. However, it is essential to read the thread to play the game. If you do not have the time or patience to read the whole thread, do not play. I will not compensate for ignorance.
Rules: Cheating: Cheating includes (but is not limited to): 1. Posting after death. You may have one polite goodbye post, but it may not contain any potentially game-changing information. 2. Ruining the game by doing something like hand out your mafia's member list to the town. 3. Logging on to someone else's account to get their role or looking over someone's shoulder to get their role. 4. Comparing role PM times to determine roles. 5. Posting screenshots of your inbox. 6. Posting any PM you receive from a host. 7. Getting yourself modkilled to help your team. Your non-majority-decided death may not be used as a bargaining chip. 8. Signing up more than once using smurf accounts. 9. Betting items outside of the game in exchange for in-game benefits. 10. Sharing accounts with other players. Only you may post on your account. Cheating is not tolerated here. The punishment will be severe.
Posting: Mod Font: This is mod font. It is reserved for moderators. Please do not use it.
Question Font: This is question font. Use it to ask the moderators questions about the rules. Please do us a favor and read the rules before you ask anything.
Activity: You must post in this thread once per day/night cycle and vote every day while you are alive. If you fail to do so, you will be modkilled.

Editing: Editing is not allowed for any reason. Editing will result in a warning. After that, you will be modkilled. This is the one part of the site where it is okay to be double posting, even triple-posting. While I ask for everybody to post as concisely as possible, post again if you have to edit anything.
Inappropriate posts: If you want to post something insulting or inappropriate and know the TL mods would have a problem with it elsewhere, don't post it here. If you do, a host will warn you or modkill you and request that you be banned from future games. The hosts have the final say on what is inappropriate. If you do not like how someone is talking to you, please PM a host, Qatol, or Flamewheel before involving the TL staff. If you are unsatisfied with how the situation is resolved, then you can appeal to the TL staff normally.
Reporting posts: The report button is a nice feature for regular TL, but not for this forum. We prefer to deal with things in house if possible to avoid confusion among the TL staff. If you have a problem with how someone is posting, talk to the host, co-host, Qatol, or Flamewheel before using your report button. Please do not use your report button for anything other than inappropriate posts which you feel are not being dealt with adequately.
Ban discussions: Please wait until this game is over to talk about modkills and bans resulting from this game.

Time Cycle: This game will follow a 48 hour day cycle. There is NO night cycle. In case I am not able to post around deadline, any votes after the 48 hour mark will not count and the game will be put on halt until the night post is up. Currently the Days are going to cycle around 05:00 GMT (+00:00). Day 1 will end Thursday, Jun 30 5:00am GMT (GMT+00:00)

Townie: Bitch, you vanilla. Your powers consist of voting during the day and shouting like a lunatic.
Medic: You are a medic, Once during the day you can choose to protect someone for the next 36 hours. Your protection can overlap into the next cycle. If you successfully protect someone both parties will be notified that a save was successful. You can NOT protect yourself.
Compulsive Vigilante: You are a compulsive vigilante. Starting Day 2 you may send in a kill once a day. Once submitted your kill target CANNOT be changed. As soon as a mod sees your shot it will be updated immediately.
Vigilante: You are a vigilante. Starting Day 1 you may choose one person to shoot. Once your action is submitted it CANNOT be reversed. You have one bullet. I will further allow vigilantes 1 extra hit to be focused on a lurker list. Only one lurker hit or normal hit can be performed in a cycle.
Mad Hatter: You are a mad hatter. Starting Day 1 you may place (1) bomb on any player. When you die your bomb will go off killing whoever you have it on. At any time you may choose to detonate your bomb killing yourself and the person you have the bomb placed on. A bomb is equal to 1KP. You may place/detonate in the same day. You may also place one additional bomb in the lurker list. Both the lurker bomb and the normal bomb can be placed/replaced in the same cycle.
Detective: You are a detective. You have two powers. Starting Day 1 you may choose to check a players role. Once the action is submitted, it takes you 12 hours to perform the investigation and you will receive your result 12 hours after the action is submitted. Your second power is a lurker investigation. Starting Day 2 you may choose to check the roles of any 2 players who are lurking. Lurking will be defined as less than 10 posts in the previous day OR less than 750 words written in the last day excluding quotes. You will receive your results 12 hours after the action is submitted. Only one power can be used per day. A detective is limited to one lurker check per 3 Days.
Veteran: You are a veteran. You have an extra life therefore it requires two successful hits to kill you. Veteran Status is effected by roleblocks removing the extra life temporarily.
Miller: Bitch, you vanilla. Your powers consist of voting during the day and shouting like a lunatic. *Appears red to rolechecks*
Goon: You are a mafia goon. You have no special powers. Your mafia team is 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
Roleblocker: You are a mafia roleblocker. You are chosen by the mafia. You may choose during each day to roleblock someone. Vigilante's will NOT lose their kill, but it won't be usable until the next day. A roleblock lasts 36 hours which can overlap into the next day cycle. A roleblock MUST occur before an action is submitted by a player. Example: If A protects B then C roleblocks A, the protection will go through since it was submitted before the roleblock took place. Players will be informed they were roleblock after the roleblock elapses and only if the roleblock prevents an action from occurring.
Godfather: You are a godfather. You are chosen by the mafia. You can choose to appear as any role in the game.

Until the game starts, it is still subject to tweaking. I will post ALL changes I make right here.
This game will play out a bit differently then normal games. All actions happen in REAL TIME during the Day cycle. There is NO night cycle, once a day ends I will flip the lynch subject and proceed with Day 2 where all actions are renewed.
All killing actions will take place instantly, while detective action, medic actions, and roleblocker actions are going to be time based.
Due to the dynamic nature of this game, understand that at ANY time something can happen, and when an action is reported I will update the game IMMEDIATELY upon reading it with that action. If it is a time based action, the time will start from the moment you send the post. Once an action is sent is it FINALIZED and can NOT be undone. This means think through whatever you do, because there is no redo button.
Since I will hopefully have multiple cohosts, it is required you send actions to ALL of us, the first person to see it will update the thread immediately.
UPDATE:1 No hits will be allowed 6 hours before the lynch. I will further consult with other hosts and decide if this rule needs further alteration. I might just change it to no hits on the top 2 vote getters.
UPDATE:2 The definition of "lurker" has been redefined. Lurkers will now be defined by a third party who I will have reading the game and will send me a list of "lurkers" daily. I have also expanded anti lurker powers to Mad Hatters (newly added role) and Vigilantes. In the case of mad hatters, if a lurker is removed from the lurker list the bomb will be returned and will be allowed to be placed on another person within the lurker list.
Q/A For the record, no role can abuse the day overlapping rule to be performing two actions simultaneously. You must wait for one actions duration to end before using another one. Meaning if you drop a protect 2 hours before day 2, you won't be able to use your next protection until 34 hours into day 2.
I was aware that the lurker mechanic could be abused, but I am saying it here and now. I will NOT allow the lurker mechanic to be abused to form a game breaking plan. Anyone trying to purposely get on the list will be mod killed and 1 game banned. The goal isn't to form a game breaking strategy with the power, it is to level the playing field.
I have made points of clarification in the roleblocker and mad hatter descriptions. Would recommend reading them.
Edited veteran description to include that they ARE effected by roleblocks.
Updated and clarified the results of medic saves and roleblockers.
Updating hatter/vigi descriptions for lurker list. Hatters can place/replace two bombs, but Vigi's are only allowed one lurker hit or one normal hit a day.

When is this predicted to end? I'm going to be without internet for a little while (around 10 days) starting July 11th. Is it ok for me to play with the assumption that I get replaced out if the game goes that long (assuming I'm still alive)?

I'm really liking the lurker check idea, because lurking/inactive town are the bane of my Mafia existence. I for one will be making a list containing all the new players and known lurkers (hi Kenpachi) and will begin my campaign against them beginning on day 2. Lurkers have caused more town losses than mafia in my experiences.
The compulsive vig should be a good way to deal with them too, because they've got unlimited hits, and they've gotta go somewhere.
I'm really excited for this, hope I get to see it to the end. The lack of night should speed it up significantly.
