The idea of this is: How does one make a leap from high-platinum to diamond?
My win loss in Platinum this far is pretty good, but nothing worth praising.
Recently I did, however, go on a 5-win streak. Most of the players were zerg however and I created on-the-spot a super homo ZvZ strategy that won me 3 zvz's in a row and got me flamed twice.
Obviously making a sudden jump in ladder points(~890 to 1007 I believe), and presumably a decent jump in MMR, I am now afraid to ladder.
I know I can probably compete with the people I'd play, but I'd like to continue my win streak and sore into Diamond with flying colors. I know I might be close to playing diamond players... maybe. I'd really like to encounter my first one on the ladder.
These shenanigans aside, I'm struggling with a major idea.
How to get better.
I know it sounds silly, but I really just don't know. I feel like my mechanics are really inconsistent. Some days I wake up and I play and I feel like "Holy shit I should be high diamond if I played like that all the time" and other days I wake up and feel like a silver player took over the controls, missing injects, mis-hotkeying units, throwing units around letting them needlessly die.
I don't think my mechanics are at all my strong point, but I don't think they are necessarily BAD either. I don't know how I'd go about improving them though.
My strong point is definitely "abnormal" play. I've been known amongst my friends as the one to do silly stuff like:
Double roach warren for burrow roach+speed rush(After two attempts I threw that idea away...)
Double gas for extremely fast +1/speedlings(A little too "all in" on the early ling aggression)
Early pool while doing purposefully doing NO aggression and droning to leave them in a very defensive mode the first few minutes of the game(still fun to do ^_^)
Heavy meta game(e.g. dropping roach warren obviously and letting it get scouted quick then making the counter to roaches counter) (This working is directly dependent on whether the opponent "sticks to his guns" or tries to adapt to players strategies)
Lots of nydus and drops. (Lots of nydus and drops... lots... banelings... banelings everywhere).
Doing stuff like this on ladder generally secures me easy wins, or I get caught off guard by a huge flaw in my silly strategy and I get facerolled by some early push I had no forseeable way of stopping from the position I put myself in.
It's super fun... and I love the way I play and I don't want to change it... but I don't know how to get better doing it, and that's really what I want to do.
Also if any low/mid diamond players want to play with me... I'd much appreciate any advice you could give me :p
