Flash is like oov cocky and arrogant at this point. I agree. He tries to be subtle, but he seems arrogant when he can show it.

Slightly different view but maybe that's just how the translation worked but it seemed that he was more concerned about his wrist than using it as an excuse. Also I'm wondering WHAT is wrong with his wrist since I don't know if there've been any TL'ers who happen to know/have made threads.
But yeah, he's kind of arrogant but I guess if you just mopped the floor with the current champion 3-0, you deserve to be confident.
Also WHAT was there to talk about? He didn't (allegedly) understand Hydra's play which would probably dwindle the amount of possibilities for conversation, but again maybe that's just me.

He gets asked about his wrists every interview. What is he supposed to do? Say "yeah shit hurts but let's talk about the game that I already answered all your questions about" or just outright lie? Sure it might make him seem arrogant but then again: he is kinda arrogant. No excuses there. But to say that he uses it as a potential crutch or to make his opponents seem worse is not really fair at all

Hahaha. Say something not favoring Flash and his rabid fanboys come out. It's not even a common ailment among progamers that one could say it comes with the territory, Maybe he pushes his wrist to hard when playing? All I'm saying is that he shouldnt make a fuss out of it. Just say its fine, and doctors are attending to it, or something. No need for the uncurable drama. He could use this later to his advantage no matter what.

Disagree with criticism against Flash and get called a rabid fanboy. Noice.

It makes the competition look like a complete bunch of incompetent idiots You are exaggerate. Your favorite player lost - deal with it, don't bring your shit on the player. And you better learn to read interview till the end.
Flash: "Recently my hand's condition was not good, but yesterday the feelings in my hands returned, I will work hard to bring exciting games next week. " i.e. "I can perform at 100% for now" Flash never made excuses due to his wrist, even when he was out from OSL/MSL he said that wrist had nothing to do with it.
Hydra is fine player but gap in skills was obvious. Maybe he was too nervous and underperformed, but proper mentality is also part of the skills. I hope this experience will be useful to him, though I prefer Soulkey/Zero as the new S-class generation of zergs =)

Why arrogant - he just enumerates the things that are related to the asked question...
Really - what is he supposed to answer: "Oh, you newsmakers, why do you keep asking this stupid question T_T", or what?
|
I just listened to the interview and he does not seem to be all that worried about his wrists. Most of what he says is that he will practice to the extreme and to the point that his wrist will fall off but doesn't actually state that it's unplayable with it. In fact, he says that taking a break had helped but then for 3-4 days he played like a madman in order to prepare.

Flash is like oov cocky and arrogant at this point. I see some god damn decent thoughts out here

Thanks for translation! People who accuse him of making up excuses and being cocky need to take a break from TL imo, long one.For everyone's good.Seriously how stupid can you be to say such bullshit after reading tons of his interviews, observing him, and basically following every opinion he makes in public.

Flash retiring while he is an S class player would be a tragedy.

Thanks for the translation!
Damn, I got quite worried reading about Flash's wrist, but those haters put a smile on my face again. No Flash interview is complete without someone trying to misinterpret what he says lol.

Flash is like oov cocky and arrogant at this point. Did you even listen to the interview? He said over and over again how he's at the condition he is at now because he practiced "until his arms hurt". He was saying how he was disappointed with his TvZ losses recently so he practiced. He wasn't even trying to insinuate that Hydra is a terrible player because he destroyed Hydra even when he had a wrist problem. He steered the conversation towards the idea that he played well because he practiced a lot.
Either you didn't actually listen to the interview or you've completely misunderstood and misconstrued what he said.

This seems like a completely unfounded thing to say at this point. If Flash was slumping hard then it might possibly have some weight ("Oh he just wants to use his wrist as an excuse for losing so much"), but he's not losing and doesn't appear to be in danger of falling into a slump anytime soon, either.
You make it sound like Flash just stopped trying, started losing constantly, and is trying to use his wrist as an excuse.
But yeah whatever, I guess an 18 year old kid should have an angel's grace and temperance and just never talk about his serious wrist injury that might force him into early retirement.
|
Obviously he is using the wrist injury as an excuse to segue into playing a game that will be less taxing on his wrist, like Starcraft 2

Ah, disciple was talking about the translation from the Chinese interview. I thought he was talking about the post-game MSL interview. But you were still way too hasty.
MSL post-game interview - the one Moktira linked to in the second post of the thread.
Commentator: Flash
Flash: Yes?
Commentator:Congratulations on getting into the finals. How do you feel?
Flash: Pardon?
Commentator: How do you feel about your win?
Flash: Well, first of all, although it's only been a few months, it feels like it's been quite a long time since I've been in a finals. I really practiced like it was life or death. I'll practice until my arms fall off for the finals.
Commentator: You won the first game convincingly but the second game gave you some trouble. It seems like you smiled brightly when you won the game in reflection of how the game was so hard won. What were you thinking in the midst of the game?
Flash: I was thinking a bit about the third game. I was thinking, "I shouldn't put myself in such a position in the third game". I was already doing a bit of mind control [preparing not to be mentally shaken after a loss] but the game progressed and I was able to make a comeback. When I won the game I was certain that I would advance to the finals.
Commentator: Many of your fans are looking forward to you winning the gold badge. Your opponent in the finals is Zero, what do you think about this?
Flash: When it comes to management, I think he is the top Zerg. Generally if the game becomes management vs management I am confident I will win, but when it comes to Zero I can't be certain about the outcome. That's how strong of a player he is.
Commentator: Your semifinals was a ZvT and so will the finals. It seems like this would give you some trouble when it comes to gameplan and strategies. Is there anything you'd like to say to Zero? Like a declaration of war.
Flash: I really didn't like how I was playing TvZ over and over again this MSL. When I played TvZ, I felt like my skills were really deteriorated. When I practiced I would think, "ah, how did I become like this?" So this time I really practiced until my arm swelled up. Right now I managed to bring up my skills really high. If I bring the ability I have right now to the finals, even though my opponent might be Zero, I think I can win.
Commentator: Is there anything you'd like to say to your fans? Any promises and thanks you'd like to give?
Flash I really practiced until I was going to go crazy, so my arm hurts a lot right now. But every time I thought of the fans and remembered how I was knocked out early in the last tournament. I really practiced like my arm was going to break, and I'll practice even harder for the finals.

I hope JD and Flash can have another finals before one of them has to retire..

but why the fuck he needs to bring this up in every god damn interview ? when asked, I guess he can just reply shit is ok and that will be the end of it. now we get to read how he practiced till his hand hurt, that doctors cant heal it and shit like that. Ofc he is not trying to bury Hydra directly but thats exactly what he is doing the way I see it. Flash has been talking about this wrist thing for about 6 months now and whats his record? I doubt he is on some painkillers he cant sleep from, obviously the problem isn't as major as he makes it to be, nor he is about to stop playing anytime soon. When oov hurt his wrist he straight up retired, there is some major thing going on there for the gamers if shit fucks up. Its really annoying reading this shit in every interview cause it makes his fans think he is not playing his best or and on the other hand that his "not best" rapes everyone else.
