So I have APUS tomorrow. That gives me 10 minutes to write this, and still have enough time to get 8 hours of sleep
Anyways, so today I needed to ride my bike to the library for an APUS study session. I go to get on it, and what do you know? Over the winter it has gone pretty damn flat. So I just took my dad's bike (he said I could use it, if mine had problems) and rode it. And even though it was flat it was a much better and lighter bike than I have. So I brought it to the library. And then went back to atrack meet afterwards. Talked to a friend who bikes a lot, and he mentioned that my dad's bike seemed super heavy. So he offered to sell me his old bike for like 50 bucks. Which seems liek a great deal lol.
I went home and realized that my 65 dollar walmart bike weighs 47 pounds. That means the bike was 1.40 a pound lol. So I talk to my friend about buying it, and he says that once he reassembles the gear assembly I can have it for 50 bucks. Which is a good deal, considering it weighs like 25 pounds, compared to 47, has quality gears, etc.
So I get home, and talk to my mom about it.
Me; So I was thinking about buying a 300 dollar bike for 50 bucks used to replace my heavy bike. Mom: Why would you do that? Me: Weighs half as much, higher quality, nicer to ride Mom: My schwinn was like 80 pounds, an I rode it for 20 pounds. Me: well, if there are lighter alternatives Mom: Well, whatever, but I don't see why your 65 dollar bike isn't adequate.
For all intents and purposes the other bike is adequate, but because she won't let me have a drivers license I'm going to be biking a LOT. So a nicer form of transportation would be nice.... Hopefully this works out.
In other news, my continued quest against shitty internet is failing. Parents again see no utility, and although I've offered to pay that fell flat
Right now we have 768kbps d/l and half that for upload. What would I need to be able to stream in terms of upload. I"m trying to figure out whether to try to get comcast or AT&T :/ They want me to know concretely what I want. If I wanted to stream at reasonable quality what upload would be required. if I wanted to watch streams in 720p, or multiple 360p streams, about what bandwidth would I need?
My options for AT&T are current, 1.5/.75, 3,0/1.5 and 6.0/3.0
For comcast it's 6/2, 10/4, and like all the way upto 60/40 (for like 100 a month lol)

I've been doing well all year, did well on practice tests. Am not worried at all. Should probably sleep though lolol.

At least your parents let you buy your own bike. I remember when my sister got a bike for free from my other sister (she got a spare) My parents got all made saying she just doesn't want to use the bike she already had. The bike she already had was rusty and really heavy (about 30 years old) and my parents felt insulted and get super mad at her and wouldn't talk to her for a few days.
Dumbest thing ever lol...as for not telling your parents about your 60...how did you find out? I realize grades are not actually as important as I thought they were when i was in high school...high school grades don't really matter at all after a while =/
(a while meaning after you get accepted to college)

Whats to stop you just taking the driving lessons/test without telling your parents?

Exactly. They can't stop you if you pay for everything yourself.

O_O what?!
I have euro and will be ridiculously sad if/when I don't get a 5...
You seem like you'll get 5 ezpz though lol ...lots of people actually think APUSH is a hard test, so if you find it easy, you've definitely got it~

Dude I have that exact bike. It broke in about 2.5 months?
I just took it out for a spin a while ago... rode it down the Business school parking deck. Fun shit.

Wow. Thats fucked up I would never take your bike onto the road. Anyways go for the bike. Good bikes will pay themselves off in the amount you use them and the exercise you do (: Having a nice bike is also a good encouragement to use it more often because it wont feel heavy and uncomfortable and change gears like a pig.

I recommend getting yourself a good fixed gear bicycle, also known as a "fixie".

Unless you are a poser and just roll around on the pavement/sidewalk to pull looks as well as annoy pedestrians and dont plan on going anywhere far either.

Err, no thanks. I had one of those long long ago. There is no point lol.
I found about the 60 over spring break, but because the average was like 42 we could make up 1/4 of the lost points. So I wasn' going to tell her until afterwards, but she was going through my backpack?!?!? and saw the test with corrections...
I have taken driving lessons, and she makes me driver her around in my stationwagon all the time. but she won't let me get a license :/

It's not their descision to allow you BTW. She'll let you drive around Illegally and in the case of an accident you'll possibly have to wait a LONG time in order to get a licence and your insurance will be greatly higher when you finally do get it
...sigh [facepalm] at some peoples way of thinking

You need at least 10up for streaming 720p w/o lag.
As for the bike - it's just 50 bucks, go for it ^^
|
Because I'm not 18 yet, due to california law my mom can prevent me from getting a license.
Lol, friend's dad who is a bicyclist to the extreme thinks it's only worth 10 bucks. My mom thinks my bike is worth 50 bucks >.>
So I'm buying it for like 20 awesome.

The bike in the OP could not be sold for more than $10 to a thinking person. You might be able to get like $15 from an idiot. Get yourself a good single speed freewheel or a fixed gear. Sometimes they come with flip flop hubs and you can have booth. 1 gear=virtually no upkeep and super reliable. And super fast on the flats. People will say, but how do you ride with 1 gear? With your legs my friend. Try it out. Unless your riding with Lance up the hills in France nobody really needs more than 1 gear. I cummute 30 miles a day 4 days a week from San Jose to Fremont here in CA on a fixed gear. It's easy.
PS if you get a fixed gear just remember you can't stop moving your legs. Many a noob has fallen trying to "coast" lol.
