I worked around the problem somewhat by putting the left channel (in audio settings of control panel) to 2/3 volume, but it would be preferable to not have to do this, and I'm sure a lot of viewers won't know how to do that.
Tips you would give to help improve the NASL - Page 62

- the transition in between games are a bit awkward and abrupt. maybe find better transition music :| - skip showing the lobby screen with the players. transition into the beginning of the game or the loading screen. GSL-esque. - instead of saying "alright we'll be back after a short break" just say "and now to the next game" and transition into what i listed above. i guess basically work on the transitions. make them less awkward and less abrupt

All right, so I want to say that I want NASL to be the best it can be and in full support of this league. I don't think many of the people realize how hard it is to run a prerecorded program like this with no issues in the beginning of the production. Especially with the amount of people working on the project. I believe towards the end of this first season no one is going to even remember the beginning troubles they've had and jump on the bandwagon. (human nature). That being said I do have a few suggestions for sound-wise because that is probably the field i'm most familiar with. 1) Casters Mics Ease off on the compression because the "P's" are popping like crazy. With the heavy compression it also brings up a lot of excess artifacts and noise that adds to the discomfort. I think also it lacks the warmth and bass tones that usually are a characteristic of casters. (It is to do with the equalizer). The reverb on iNcontroL's voice (unintentional i assume from the room), takes away from it as well, especially when gretorp doesn't have any reverb at all. It doesn't sound like they are in the same room which bothers me and probably other people as well without even knowing. 2) Music All of the game sounds are slotted on to one sound on the left and just sounds like a bunch of useless noise. Put it in stereo and it'll for sure make the casters and music sound more natural. I noticed as well it was distorting, probably with too much compression. I can't tell but if you are compressing everything together, don't do that and compress each audio track (gretorp, incontrol, and in-game sounds) separately. 3) Mics I understand that those mics are nice because of how small and not distracting but I don't think anyone would mind to have GSL-style big headphone and mics, if it meant better quality sound. It might be easier on handling the plosives too. All right well thats all I had to say and I can't wait to see NASL to grow into a beast and I really do hope they read this and take it in consideration. I also have to say gretorp and incontrol are improving each cast, and it won't be long till it becomes the premier league. But for now it still has a ways to go. GL GUYS!

Couldn't they use stocking pop filters as a cheap and easy solution in the interim? (just noticed the mics they use, never mind) These are the EQ settings I am using on my computer. I am not a prospective sound engineer, but it sounds better to me. Posting the image as it might help others.

Yeah if you EQ it yourself it will help for sure. But yeah the biggest problem I would say is just how noisy it is as a whole BUT I did notice at times the music goes in stereo sometimes?

Id love it if they actually had the production value they promised. Unmatched production value my ass, have you seen the desk/ the set? Its just plain grey and says NASL at the back, you cant really get any more bland than what they have right now. Honestly how could it be anymore bland? I dont see anyway unless it was just them sitting in chairs talking. I would prefer to not see them at all like in the TSL then what they have right now, just have some cool pictures and stats, until they get something better than what they have now i think it would probably be better. I dont really like seeing gretorp rolling his eyes back or when they go all lazy or w/e iswrong anyways.

I'm not sure if this is NASL's fault or Justin.tv but the frame rate on the stream and the VODs is also very bad. It seems like for a few seconds it will be OK and then it goes down to about 10 FPS. Also as other people have mentioned the sound today has been even worse than it was before. I'm trying really hard to be constructive but I'm starting to regret giving NASL my money.

They are constantly saying what the players could have / should have done, and then if they player doesn't do it, or it's not as effective as they would have liked for it to be, they (maybe jokingly) sound disappointed with themselves. This makes the casts less entertaining for me. 2.) The casters / observer need to keep a better eye on the game. There have been countless situations where they have said, "And he doesn't have a baneling nest," when the player does, or, "and the roach warren is left standing!" when it died. I swear I'm not trying to be nit picky, but these are the types of things that keep me from watching Husky / HD / Psy on youtube. You guys are top level players, you understand the game. Please cast like it.

Incontrol, the biggest peev I have with your casting is that you constantly say 'Sorry I can't make this exciting.' It's your job to make the game exciting WITH YOUR COMMENTARY. That is why you're there. If you don't have the will to make the game sound exciting then we won't watch it will we? There have been A LOT of inappropriate words being shared (calling players stupid i.e TLO). There are so many times where you slip up with similar but probably more inappropriate callings, I like how you're keeping it casual, but seriously, this is being watched by 10's of thousands of people, keep that stuff suppressed, talk to each other about it off-mic but nobody wants to hear it, keeping it casual is good but you got to have some.. professionalism needed. There is far little conversation between you about relevant things in the game. It's fine hearing your stories but you guys constantly go off on a tangent and you miss very big things in the game, and you pick it up so late too. The constant apologizing for raising your voices, we don't care. You got excited, we get drawn in. That's what you want. The immersion you two have doesn't suffice. I'm often finding myself lowering the volume and just listening to music. Enthusiasm is needed. Like on the KiWiKaKi vs Artosis game 3, that was exciting. Your dull voices ruined the excitement, it was a very big shame that you guys can't get the enthusiasm out there. Take the a few books out of Husky, Day9 or PsY's bookcase. Ahnaris has really good enthusiasm too. You just can't ruin the mood of the matches with dull un-entertained voices. And obviously the constant technical difficulties you guys are having is outrageous. It's the second week out there and you guys still stuff up on streaming a VOD. I didn't even know it was possible. But apart from the constant technical difficulties and very bad commentating, the games are exciting.

• Increase the framerate. I have much stuttering and this is not due to bandwidth or computer performance issue. (3.6 GHz dualcore and video run when fully prebuffered.) Youtube 1080p videos are running fine, NASL videos do stutter.

The main thing I'd like them to change is to make it so that they don't have game sounds only on one of the channels (specifically it's only on the left channel right now). It's really distracting (also it's significantly too loud ) I worked around the problem somewhat by putting the left channel (in audio settings of control panel) to 2/3 volume, but it would be preferable to not have to do this, and I'm sure a lot of viewers won't know how to do that. You should get your ears checked if you didn't have problems with the sound quality. It was significantly worse today than it was last week, although I am pleased they finally turned the game music on.
