Well, im not going to point stuff about the stream, everyone is talking about the key points.
Im going to show the main reason im not going to buy the season ticket:
I understand the bad layout, i understand the really bad organization, but... Stretched picures? I can fix this kind of stuff using paint! Plus the lack of padronization, they have a lot of really strict rules about how players should apply for the league, not even one about the picture? Just ask for an 3x4 picture with white background.
This is really amateur.

For a league that places so much on players and story lines they sure now how to display their players
Unfortunately i already payed for my hd pass before the league came out, the people making the league put so much hype behind it and seemed so confident i was sure it must be worth supporting or checking out

Standardized portraits is a wonderful suggestion.
In the absence of such source material, they could have one of their Photoshop guys grab these photos and mask them out (and re-size them to ratio), and impose a blank background (black). Maybe I'll work something out and post it.

The biggest concern for me (and I'm sure a lot of other people) is the choppiness. It's baffling how it has gone unchanged. It looks like an encoding issue so upgrade your PC, change the program your using, mess with processor affinity, just for the love of ESPORTS (lul) DO SOMETHING!
The casters table is fine. I don't think big shiny lights like they have in the GSL are necessary, it looks fine as is.
I also think Gretorp and iNcontrol are doing a fine job casting. People are giving Gretorp shit because he's not enthusiastic enough, and other people are saying his excitement sounds fake.... Gretorp if you read this just act natural ffs, you're doing fine.
Also I'd really like them to address some of the issues they've been having. Some transparency would go a long way. I'm curious to hear what iNcontrol has to say tonight on SOTG.

Really??
You've got some strange priorities. I'm sure it's hard to have people to provide a picture, but a picture of Boxer??? Maybe they're trying to avoid copyright issues or something.

And yes, for me, that shows how much they invested on this league. 400k prize pool for 3 seasons and (talking about prices on Brazil) cant spend 2k on the website? Or request good pictures to the players?
Sure, all of the stream problem, the complaints about spoilers are big things, but i believe its "excusable" because they are big! This is so small and easy to be done right and they manage to make this shitty?

While it hasn't been in this thread, iNc regularly commented during the live report threads, especially this last one. Searching up his post history may give you a lot of insight about his position on things. It's a shame he isn't willing to compile it all into one thread, but then again that's sort of what this thread is for.

That image of boxer is a disgrace to anyone who uses photoshop for a living. We know how super, super, super simple it is to crop an image to the correct dimensions. I'm sure its a case of the web designer sticking it in without first changing the dimensions and then the CSS twists the image up, No way a graphic designer would allow that, even a bad one. But all it takes is a simple glance at the page before you go live to see, oh wait, that's a huge disaster, i better ask someone to see if this can be fixed? but they didn't. they're too busy, well they won't be too busy when this league collapses.
I stand corrected.. someone did alter this image on purpose... dear lord, step into my office...

That's some classy work there

My thoughts exactly (Style-sheet stretching image) ... Holy cow that's bad. No designer should/would ever do such a thing.
Here, NASL. Use this, cropped and sized:
I can easily do the others if you'd like. It will take me ten minutes. PM me.

It takes like 15 seconds to restore the correct aspect ratio and add blank borders to the sides. Here's Boxer and Ensnare fixed up...

You're missing the point. The stretched image is not a result of the HTML or the CSS. It is the way the image was processed for the site. The designer deliberately changed the aspect ratio of the source material to conform it to the size of the container (190x120).
The overall point is that the "players" page is hideous. This page absolutely must be standardized. I reviewed the company responsible (credited) for creating this web site and some of the work on the NASL site is sub-par.
Not sure what happened there. Again, if someone from NASL is reading this, I'd be happy to help.

I understand that completely. NASL just needs to reprocess the images to make them fit the container without stretching them. - resize the image back to the original aspect ratio (or use the original photo) - add grey borders to the sides of the image to make it the desired aspect ratio.

Just heard that even when two players are from the EU they have to play their match on the NA server(?)
That'd be weird... and bad for the players I imagine.
Even more so if this is also true for Korean/Asian(sen) based players... Those matchups have happened and will happen; Zenio vs Sen, Ensnare vs July, Artosis vs Moon etc...
|
I don't know much about how lag affects people, but its not a true test of skill unless the playing field is totally level. But having said that:
Division 5 Spoiler + Show Spoiler +Boxer dismantled Drewbie pretty easily, lag or no lag.
That's one thing you can't blame NASL for and i'm just stoked the Koreans are represented one way or the other.

Right now everyone plays on NA at the same time so the casters and whoever records can be there. If it's kor vs kor they will get online at 4 am and play on the NA server
I don't know if they will change that since they have altered their schedule already, but this is just a result of the "fake live" concept. At first I thought it was a pretty neat idea, but in hindsight I think replays are the better alternative. That said, chasing down that many players and trying to make sure they all get their games played on time every night would be really hard. But then again having this many games in a season is hardly necessary

I totally understand them doing EU vs NA, KR vs NA and KR vs EU games on the NA server because it's the NASL... But when both players are from the same region it'd be pretty stupid to force them to deal with the delay anyway.

Better links to individual games (was this already done yesterday?). Options to watch at slower bandwidth.
