As for me though, I'm not discouraged at the commercial or streaming technicality but rather I feel a lacking sensation of a live presence. What makes GSL so great is the fact that all the players are presented and playing at the time of the live stream as well as the actual LIVE commentators. For some reason, I totally thought NASL going to have all players present at an area and have the match aired like that of GSL, but apparently, the whole thing is prerecorded with a non-existence competitive atmosphere. Since the thing isn't even "technically" live it's almost better off to get more audiences as well as less technical problems by posting it on youtube.
It especially hasnt felt live these past 3 days, as they talk about games that they think are happening at the time of casting that we know are cancelled. Or when they spoiled the squirtle vs axslav game, obviously the games werent even cast in order otherwise inc wouldnt have known the results of the squirtle vs axslav game and ruined it for everybody.
Im super dissapointed so far, i sent them a general inquiry form asking for a refund as i do not feel the product is what they promised us, they promised unmatched production values. All i see is a caster desk that looks like its in a cave with a very bland background, and 2 casters that do not go very well together chemistry wise. I feel the same way like they may as well just have it in vods as it defenetly does not have that LIVE feeling. I thought they could pull it off even with a day delay, but i feel like i may as well be watching vods because thats what it feels like. And although it may be psychological i get way more excited about sports when i know what is happening is happening right NOW!
Honestly i feel like they promised alot and delivered alot less, it feels like im testing out the beta of a product, but i payed for it already =/
In comparison the TSL is an absolute joy to watch, and it is CAST live from replays wich actually gives it way more of that live feeling because the casters are actually casting it right then, there is no wierd edits or games out of order .The TSL is just so more more aesthetically pleasing as well. I was getting a massive headache watching the NASL today, and i was thinking "wow i had soo much fun and it was such a delight to watch the TSL today, i really wish the NASL could be alot more like the TSL".
Also who else feels like the opening video for the NASL is really corny, they should have something EPIC , the music and the video just feel really corny , even if they just changed the music it would be better sounds like something on a childrens television program.
NASL needs to find fast an good way to handle problems from gamers with time. Just givin defwins is not ok. WhitaRa and MC would play if they cauld. Naninwa on the other hand, well all WC3 people know him as beeing biggest ass in game... that is not able to get his things in time up. So i think defin is ok but for others.
You cant just act this way Nasl! You are not the only tournament and ofc not the Nr.1. You have to check out when to play and if there is an big tournement or tournement qualifier...myb just be flexibal and change date or even put matches some ours behind their shedule. Really dissapointing and I cant understand why you are that strict.

just look how the probes move. VOD and livestream, same problem for me.
please let me know if i'm the only one with that problem and how I can change that.
I have a similair problem sometimes, i swear they run the framerate at like 15 fps or something. I know it has nothing to do with my computer as i can watch wayy higher bitrate 1080p files with a hitch i have 8 gigs of ram 2.83 quad core and dual sli gtx 275 so im pretty sure its a problem on their end as i have heard numerous people complain about it.
sigh cant wait for another refreshing dose of TSL tommoro so i can wash the taste of todays NASL out of my mouth.
NASL - I really dont like the German commentator you had for a number of reasons:
1. He was not in studio so it looks un-professional to have an empty seat
2. He is kinda of loud, sometimes inaccurate and overpowers Diggity (Diggity does a great job btw)
Other than that things seem to be improving (I am a paying subscriber) so I hope you will listen to my feedback
Positive feedback:
- Diggity Rocks! Find one more guy that leaves near L.A. that is pro to help commentate, and if there isnt one stick with InControl
- The InControl/Gretorp commentating combo while still raw is getting better, but still not pro
Some Interesting Info:
- Is it just coincidence that the 3 biggest players in the tournament so far have missed their play times? White-Ra, OGSMC, Naniwa all missed there games. Is this coincidence or is there something organized behind the scenes to make sure NASL has troubles?
- Also: NASL you shouldnt listen to prolific complainers unless there is a lot saying the same thing. For the most part it is non-subscribers anyways. OVERALL you are doing a good job!! So keep your chins up!
Sigh I was enjoying NASL kinda, but am starting to enjoy it less and less. I'm not sure if it's the W.O.'s the commercials that mute sound so I have to turn it back on, it's annoying and after reading this I'm not the only one who had to do that multiple times, and then yeah another Olive Garden commercial comes on and I have to turn the sound back on.
TSL had problems today, but I still enjoyed it and even though some of my favorite players played in the NASL today I still didn't want to watch it. I just didn't feel compelled to. Also for those people who don't know the weekend attracts the most viewers, So numbers falling means it's attributed to something else.(Usually.)
Bad thing is, I don't dislike Incontrol or Gretorp, so it doesn't feel like it's them, though the mics could be fixed/upgraded.
-edit holy sheet i failed at saying what I wanted to

I think khaldor and diggity is a much better casting combo then INC and gretorp, they did really well today, they have better chemistry then inc and gretorp after casting 1 best of 3 together wich is a bit ridiculous. I would much rather listen to better casters throughout the game and see diggity sitting there by himself, then watch gretorp look like hes falling asleep one more time sitting there. His eyes just get super lazy and its really annoying to watch, he also just doesnt have a casters voice plain and simple, i understand hes trying alot harder but i honestly think its making him even worst, casting is something that should come naturally, look how tasteless became a caster he just went up there and started casting at wcg with no experience and was doing a much better job then the previous caster , from then on he started casting games. obviously it takes some practice but you also have to have certain traits to be a caster anyone can be a caster, but not everyone can be a very good caster, you have to have the look (if your on video) the voice , the knowledge and the right style and chemistry with a co caster if you have one. You cant just put 2 people together and hope it works(seems like thats what the NASL did)

I agree with you partially; however, I still dont like the empty seat - it takes away from the 'real' feel of it. I think the NASL is awesome btw, but they have a lot of bugs to work out still.
I dont understand all the whining.. Ok videos been bit laggy and audio mayby not the best but games have been greate and Im highly enjoying this. Keep up the good work!
then i will be happy watching these. I'm sure when they all have to fly to L.A. it will be very exciting. im gonna guess half koreans and half foreigners in the top 16. there's only 10 korean i know and i only see about 2 not playing so well.

I thought I dreamt that. What ta hell was Incontrol thinking?
I really don't understand the NASL whine in these threads. I paid the $25, thats like two hours work and I get 3 months worth of sick Starcraft games. The Nada games were awesome, well worth the money. Considering SC2 tournaments on this scale are still fairly new, I'd think the community would have a bit more patience, but I was wrong, which is disgusting considering 99% of people are watching a free stream. It actually makes me really sad to see the way people react to problems which are largely out of the control of the NASL, like player scheduling issues.
Like others, I've noticed the choppy framerate. Its not the end of the world or anything, but compared to the GSL or NASL its kind of annoying. The ads on the stream tend to pop up at bad times as well. I have no idea if they can control when the show up, but if they could come up with a way to get them to show up between games or something it would be awesome.
Also, I really wish they could get some casters who have better chemistry together, that really hurts the games for me. A lot of the time I found myself not paying attention to them, and then when the game started to slow down, I lost interest all together. Its not so important when the games are action packed, but there are frequently a lot of down times where not much happens. Thats where good casters can really shine and keep things interesting to watch despite a lack of action in the games.
Finally, the match cancels are a disappointment. I know not everything is in their control, but to have such high profile matches just not played is really a letdown. They can't fix every situation, but I kind of feel like they could maybe work with the players schedules a bit more. GSL postponed TLOs games a week when he had chickenpox, they also moved a lot of players schedules around so they could go to Blizzcon. TSL took a whole week off for MLG Dallas. I wish they could have scheduled MCs game for a day he didn't have a plane flight, or at least let the game be played on a later date instead of just being cancelled altogether. Games played later are better than no games at all, and I think a little flexibility on their part will go a long way.
All that said, I'm glad I decided to wait to pay, because right now I don't think it would have been worth my money. I want the NASL to be successful, I really do, but they really need to work out some of these issues if they want to compete with the other major tournaments.
Also, I really do mean this as constructive criticism. After all, I didn't pay anything to watch the stream, so its not like I've lost anything. Like I said before I want the NASL to do well. I just thought I would throw in my 2 cents and let my concerns be known, and give my suggestions on what I think can be improved. Hopefully they will take what everyone has been saying into account, and can make some changes for the better.
With regards to the coughing... I've been sick with the flu since I came back from Dallas... Coughing and sweating for almost two weeks is not easy... (even missed work several days due to flu)

This is a huge thread and I'm sure what I'm about to write has already been written before, but I'd just like to share my experience from the first week so far:
I really like the NASL so far. Sure it doesn't have the production value of the GSL and all but it's awesome to see alot of these players duking it out.
InControl and Gretorp are great casters and atleast I as a platinum level player learn alot from listening to them.
As I live in europe I'm just watching the VOD's though, which have been working great. Eventhough I have to check them out at the justin.tv site as they're on there much quicker than on the website. Sure they're mislabeled most of the time, but I hope that's going to be fixed. Maybe the VOD's should be posted right away on nasl.tv after the american broadcast aswell?
What I don't like is that we seem to be missing out on atleast one game a day. I understand it's been hard when it has been colliding with Dreamhack for MC, WhiteRa and Naniwa (he was at Dreamhack in the audience, I suppose that was why he was tired from his train ride or whatever it was.) Couldn't this have been avoided through better communication though? Maybe they could've played their games in advance from Stockholm or why not just postpone their games to a later date?
Anyway, I love the tournament despite the bumpiness of the first week but I really do hope these issues with the schedules gets sorted out as its hard to take it seriously when there's atleast one walkover a day at the moment.
