The NASL exists because of those commercials. Don't watch if you don't like it, no one cares to hear your whining.
I wouldn't mind the commercials if every single time I saw the damn Olive Garden commercial my sound didn't cut out 100%. I have to get off my couch walk over to the computer and manually fix it. It's not pleasant.
"I have to get off my couch ... it's not pleasant." lol
It's not. I'm usually exhausted by this time on the verge of passing out and it just gets me grumpy when I can't relax and tune out and watch some starcraft.
i can't believe it. you're actually serious. holy shit. you're actually complaining about getting off your ass to close an advertisement on a stream that you're not paying for.
it's not closing the fucking advertisement that im mad about dipshit. it messes up my entire sound, so i have to manually fix it after every commercial. it's frustrating getting up fixing the sound and then laying back down just to have another olive garden advertisement pop up. read my fucking post.
ok, change the part about closing the advertisement in my original post and replace it with whatever the hell you have to do. does it make it any less pathetic that you're complaining?
Also it's very easy for people to dodge the ads, so they really can't ruin the viewing experience or people will just do that(or stop watching). I think most people just don't like it breaking their game up, rather having ads between games and/or series, which personally I feel isn't a big request. That being said, like people have mentioned it might be outside NASL control and up to j.tv...

for $25 you don't have to deal with them if they're such a hardship for you. remind me how much you're paying for this service again?

sounds like you have a tough life.
This is a perfectly legitimate concern if commercials are screwing up his settings or activating during the matches. We're not second class citizens just because we didn't pay the $25. We are allowed to have opinions.
It seems like NASL needs to work closer with Justin.tv to iron out some of these commercial issues a lot of players are having. One idea is to edit in "tv timeouts" right before a match starts. Either way, it's clear they care a lot about feedback and improving the quality of the show. I'm confident that they are going to figure out a better way to implement commercials.
TV timeouts mean the people who paid are getting dead air. The simple fact of the matter is the free stream is a lower quality viewing experience. That makes total sense to me.
I think there is a difference between lower quality and frustrating quality. You could fill that "dead air" with a thousand and one things for the paying viewers. You could even package it as bonus content.

Currently they seem to be trying to time them during player interviews and between-game analysis. People are complaining that they aren't getting that content. Any other content that the paid viewers get exclusive access to will also be complained about.
Didn't watch many of the games, was sort-of just switching back-and-forth between them. I did watch all of the Diggity-casted games. I can't wait for tomorrow!

You know i had a remote control TV in a broke ass post-soviet country way back in the 90s.
I lost a lot of interest in watching the NASL. I feel like I'm not the only one either. I notice a drastic drop in viewer count vs. the first day it aired. As for me though, I'm not discouraged at the commercial or streaming technicality but rather I feel a lacking sensation of a live presence. What makes GSL so great is the fact that all the players are presented and playing at the time of the live stream as well as the actual LIVE commentators. For some reason, I totally thought NASL going to have all players present at an area and have the match aired like that of GSL, but apparently, the whole thing is prerecorded with a non-existence competitive atmosphere. Since the thing isn't even "technically" live it's almost better off to get more audiences as well as less technical problems by posting it on youtube.

- Drastic drop is probably because it is the weekend. - The TSL isn't Live either but that is great to watch, the atmosphere is there. - NASL broadcast virtually everyday, it would be near impossible to try organize 50 different players from around the world to show up every week

Yeah, I sorta feel the same way. I was hoping it would be similar to the GSL but in my timezone... but today IdrA's stream had more viewers and I'm starting to see why. =/
Plus, TSL just outclasses NASL on so many levels and most people don't want to sit around watching SC2 all day.

Wait, idra's stream broke 12k viewers? Wtf? O.o
During the entire time IdrA was streaming he had a lead on viewers. The closest I saw the viewer numbers was 8700ish to 8k. Then IdrA's stream crashed a couple of times and he left soon thereafter - this is when NASL reached the 12k you're talking about.
All this talk about viewership dropping...it's also saturday. People are out doing stuff on the weekend. Normally during the weekdays after work and school people have no plans and will tune in.

Not only that but this is only ro16 and the best match of the day ended up being a walkover.

This isn't the round of 16, it's the first round for the 10-player round robin for the 4th group.

I'd be interested to see the stats for that. (Link please!) I think your argument makes sense but I can't be sure of the exact effect of this.
However, it doesn't account for IdrA (emphasis on the fact that this is ONE player) having more viewers than NASL which IMO is far more interesting and telling of NASL's quality compared to say, GSL & TSL (basically an online GSL, which speaks a lot to the guys behind it).
I think the biggest problem is that its too long and too big right now.
Like knowing that its going to last 3 months and that these first 2 months are barely important, really deters from the event and removes a lot of the fun factor.
I mean people want to see important matches that mean something, fighting for big money so everything is on the line, but knowing these matches are sort of a prequel to the main thing is kind of ruining the fun.
Also since its not live and over the internet having absolutely nothing interesting to show or talk about between the matches really hurts the experience.
Also there needs to be some kind of graphics, like show a graphic of the bracket, show a graphic of the players, show a graphic of the map, etc...
I mean they should have probably started with a smaller prize pool, something like 30k and use more resources into production and build from there.
I mean I really want to support e-sports, but this is not the way you do stuff, you don't go from 400.000 dollars prize pool to 150.000 and no production. You really need to start small and build up.
Also people were expecting a lot more, $400.000 prize pool and people were 100% sure its going to be a really professional, really great production with everything in perfect order. And people have every right to think that way, because they advertised it as such and they failed.
Let's not go crazy about the viewership right now. With five nights a week and five bo3s, it's only fair to assume the viewership won't be insane every night. I have a feeling that when the top16 final is broadcast it will seem much more epic and exciting to everyone. They're doing a great job at providing a lot of sc2 content for anyone who wants to watch it. With all the games and all the players, you can pretty much pick and choose which games/nights you'd like to watch. Also what some people are overlooking, especially the ones who are comparing to dreamhack, is that the time it's being presented is much less ideal for viewership in Europe. The first night of NASL people were making stupid comments about how dreamhack owned NASL viewership. Dreamhack had like 45k viewers and NASL around 25-30k. Dreamhack was a one day event, and during the afternoon in NA, night in EU. Obviously they'll get more viewership..
I noticed that It's not running smoothly for me, even when watching VODs, am I the only one with that problem? I made a short video and put it on youtube:
just look how the probes move. VOD and livestream, same problem for me.
please let me know if i'm the only one with that problem and how I can change that.
