None of the roles requires exceeding acting talent and there are countless gorgeous actresses in Asia who "look the part"..so..you figure out what the potential starlett, who just needs one big break, will do to make sure SHE gets on the set. What is the "shame" (no pun intended) is that she had to make herself into a martyr for these events to come to light.

* Broadcasting/Music PD of “Playful Kiss”, “Boys Over Flowers”, “Perfect Couple”, “Goong” – Song Byung Joon (Married actress Lee Seung Min in January of 2010) Maybe I'm too innocent for thinking like this, but how did this guy manage to do it with his fiancée (at the time, I assume) being a fellow actress? I mean, isn't she like 20 years younger than him? Did he need more? I don't know, this...stuff just has to stop somehow.

this is a truely universal problem for aspiring actresses - and even actors on occasion even if a couple heads fall for this particular case, the shit will just keep on going, and the maximum that can be done is to limit the abuses by a small margin - the big guys never will pay in full for such abuse, and they got enough cash to cover the costs of getting off easy. also let's not forget that, to be honest, many victims of this kind of abuse don't mind it that much, as long as it gets them where they need to go - i would assume this to be more true for the western mentality though, i'm not familiar with asian cultural perceptions. still, this further complicates the issue. a sad story nonetheless

So sad. Edit. To be honest, if it was just one dumb slut sleeping her way to success, then it'd be all cool. But her family background and situation just makes it horrible. Despicable exploitation of the weak by the powerful in its worst form.

"Hidden Side of S Korea" makes it seem like this is some sort of on going event where every TV/Pop star is forced into a sort of sex slavery relationship. I don't see why the latter part of the title was necessary or even thought of. If this was a story about the drug trade in Mexico and you put "Hidden Side Of Mexico" before the stories became popularized it would make sense but in this situation is almost seems like a bashing of everyone in South Korea.
