I do get the idea, but in cases it just saw big orgs doing merc pickups that damaged the scenes in the games they were picking from | ||

It can stretch out a scene, I’d argue it doesn’t massively help it in a medium or long-term sense structurally. You can convince the top folks to stick around a bit longer, it doesn’t massively help the tiers beneath that, or the next generation. Equally it’s not really what EWC is trying to accomplish so I can’t be too critical on that. It is what it is. But it does feel somewhat incongruous where one, indeed perhaps the biggest SC2 prize pools pops up at a time where the wider scene is somewhat struggling, especially in Korea | ||
