It would be pretty funny to see the "Trololol clip" be there at the site in a minute, trolling the whole sc2 community. Good stuff!

I think they might need to change the name anyways, because NASL belongs to the North American Soccer League:
"NASL © 2010 All Rights Reserved - "NASL" and "North American Soccer League" are trademarks of North American Soccer League, LLC."
Found on www.nasl.com
But I can't wait to see what they are going to announce...

NASCL?
hmmm no... "North American Student Cooperative League"
*shakes fist*
|
So they pick a name that's already used and then mess up a countdown clock a 1st year IT student could do. I hope the league aint gonna suck luck the preparation ...
|
North American Starcraft League, that would be kickass if they eventually get picked up on TV. Maybe then I can convince my girlfiriend that watching Starcraft is like watching any other sport.

I just googled "can you copyright a name", and I found this.
Copyright does not protect names, titles, slogans, or short phrases.
http://www.copyright.gov/help/faq/faq-protect.html
Note, I don't actually have any idea what that entails. For all I know they (iNcontroL &co) might have made a mistake.

jaeh NASL is a short form and u normaly cant protect short forms (there are also BBC's that not mean the english television but something aeh sexual ... you know what i mean)

It's not an intellectual copyright. It's a trademark, different things.

Oh, well, there you go then.

well a company can protect its brand name. and im pretty sure that NASL did protect the name, just like every company should do.
|
That is copyright law, the name NASL is a trademark. I don't know that much about these things, but I assume that you can protect names.
Just look it up here, the soccer related NASL has 11 trademarks related to sports & competitions for the name NASL. http://www.uspto.gov/
