It always surprises how idiotic some people act as long as they can hide behind their pale screen in their sad little homes. This is fucking great news for everyone loving esports in general and SC2 in particular. So stop whining for a second and apreciate the second biggest SC2 league ever just being announced.
I agree Let's stop complaining about all the small stuff, and be happy that such a monumental event is happening so soon!
Incontorp ftw!

While I am new to the sc community, I hope that Geoff and other NASL administrators look at previous tournaments' successes and downfalls (CGS for example) and learn from their mistakes.
While I my advice probably doesn't mean much to you all, I suggest trying to get djWHEAT as a consultant due to him having so much experience in the competitive gaming scene. <3 you guys.
Can't wait!!

The line I was querying was where they said "The idea is to crown a world champion". We have already said the tourney will be open to players from korea, europe, SA etc. Given the logistics we have we are proud to say that we are pursuing a world champion. If you want to contest that claim please look to the International Courts of The Internet or the ICI and make a claim that we are wrongfully creating an arbitrary title. Oh and when you are done stfu and enjoy the league
Haha, you give the whole thing such an American touch...

This announcement is pretty incredible. I love the league format that prevents team kills during the early stages. I love the background-building. The production value of the show match was somewhat disappointing, however I have faith it will improve.
As far as constructive criticism goes, the synch issue was the most glaring problem. I'm guessing it's a hardware issue because I haven't seen that problem pop up in any tournaments other than the GSTL. The other thing I'd point out is the production could definitely use some music for the transitions. The show match felt very "hollow" to me compared to the GSL due to the lack of crowd, which is unavoidable, but some music would easily fill the gap. Even if it were simple SC2 background music. The last thing that bugged me was the lack of in game clock, I hope that was a mistake because it's very helpful to have as a spectator. It's tough to say "oh man remember that awesome push Jinro did at the 5 minute mark" if there's nothing onscreen to reference it with.
I am also bit concerned as to how they're going to fill out the 40-man league. From the G4 interview I felt that Jeff dealt with the conflict of interest issue very well. I don't think it's going to be much of an immediate problem due to the limited size of the NA scene. However one big advantage that GSL, MLG, and TSL all have in common is that there's a disconnect between the tournament organizers and players, and that really fosters professionalism. To be honest I'm just not very comfortable with teams sponsoring casters. Even in the GSL, Tasteless' relationship with EG did kinda bug me while Idra was playing. I didn't have much of a problem with Artosis because MYM didn't have anyone playing.. And with the TSL, I understand the rationale behind giving all of TL-Korea invites, but I still think that damages the tournaments validity. But again, I trust those issues will be dealt with later on down the road. Mostly I'm just happy that there's this great new opportunity for foreigner eSports.

Well, this announcement certainly didn't disappoint!
I do think this quote from the interview is noteworthy:
"We want to grow the fan base. Part of the reason why a guy like Husky or HD or TotalBiscuit is successful isn't because of their top of the line commentary and their deep knowledge of the game. It's because they're animated, they're excited, they're fun to listen to, they're fun to watch, and they make the game interesting to people that don't know anything about it. That's not lost on us and that's why, personally speaking, I'm trying to create for myself that hybrid commentator in that sense that I'm going to throw some jokes in there, I'm going to have voice deflection. But at the same time, I'm going to feed professional grade commentary in the sense that I understand the game at its deepest levels."
I think it's good to recognize the value of animated color commentary, I'm less sure it's possible to turn yourself into that kind of commentator. inControl is a good comentator, and can be funny as hell (battle of the bronze is still the funniest SC2 cast I've ever seen), but I have trouble seeing him pulling off the sort of hyper-enthusiastic play by play someone like TB does. I think it's kind of something you just need to have a knack for. Why not just invite someone like Husky in there to co-cast? With a good knowledgable co-caster it might work out well and be a nice balance for people newer to the game.

A league that invites the most popular players "voted by fans" brings out a world champion. US ppl have a strange relationship with the term "world champion". Like in Boxing where 10000 different world champions exist.
It will be a great tourney but please stop calling the winner world champion, since 50% of the CODE S players will beat any1 from EU/NA.

I'm curious to know why IdrA forfeitted for the GSL March since NASL only starts on April 11th? Any body knows why?
