except what about quiting when you're ahead?
on a serious note, though I obviously have never seen you play or your games, you sound like you're playing JUST to win, and not to improve, that kind of playstyle will get you to mid/high diamond, but to get past that bump you have to sit down and stop doing the same cheese build over and over (not saying you are, just a generalization) and actually work on your mechanics+gamesense.
I'd be pissed too, and I've been worried about being demoted to plat a few times on bad days, but so far it hasn't happened. Instead of focusing on your rank for that day, focus on how well your games went, and what you did in them, after a little while you'll hopefully be promoted to masters and not even realize it.

i know his frustration man, if you don't know people you can't practice, and if you can't practice you don't improve, and so you turn to ladder to practice, and randomly being demoted/promoted, and having the system F up your MMR means you don't get any consistant practice either, so really blizz ladder and Bnet 2.0 sucks for getting better.
|
Blizzard's matchmaking has consistently placed me in matches with people of similar skill than me. I trust their MMR. All the smoke and mirrors with rank, well... That's just pretty bullshit. I like it though.

I think OP's age/maturity are questionable.
I think your first and last sentence are related. Nobody gets a false sense of entitlement from their rank if they understand how the ladder works.

Blizzard has done a fine job eh? Seriously, if you want to be better than your friend find someone good to practice with you. Beat him in 1v1s consistently by playing half as much as he does and you will find it more rewarding than grinding the ladder trying to beat him in terms of rank.
|
Well maybe it's for the best. If you're gonna suck at the game, might as well quit. Along the way though, you may end up quitting many things and never accomplish anything in life. Such is the risk we take for giving up.

Don't quit! I'm Bronze, and progressively getting worse. Honestly!
You just gotta take a break, play some custom games like Starjeweled, and just fun stuff, and then seriously look back at your replays. Look over them and analyze them until there's nothing left to analyze, and work on different aspects. Obviously, if you were in Diamond, you're already quite good, but it really helps to stop and take a look at your replays and others like your friends. ^___^ Get more practice partners and just play customs for a while!
Either way, if you want more of a pep talk, send me a message. xD! I have a few friends too who are looking for practice partners, so. :3
Don't give up! ^______^

Grow up. Such a kiddy move. Man up, life isn't always fair.

no need to resort to wow, that quote was never exclusive
bw was bad enough in this regard to be called 'starcrack'. im sure wow is addictive, but for different reasons

Sounds to me like the OP has this "Oh I can't be the best so I'm going to quit" or "I wanna be this rank but I'm not so I'm going to quit" attitude.
Maybe the reason why you can't get to a certain rank is because you just aren't good enough. Did you even consider this possibility?
I can understand quitting SC2 because the game/ladder sucks, but quitting for this is downright retarded.

Saying it was your little bro that got you demoted is so weak. It's a computer game, for Christ's sake. Your rivalry with your friend seems ridiculous enough to make your care about B.net this much.

LOL.
I got demoted from masters league after practicing builds on the ladder
got repromoted BACK to masters after about 5 days.
Suck it up dude its bound to happen

I guess I'm supposed to be all sympathetic and go:
"Oh no, you can do this! We believe in you!"

I don't know the only way to say it is.. suck it up man. I remember in BW when all my friends would play. My good friend despite playing a lot less than me always won and was better than me. Many times I got frustrated but through a bit more hardwork, and realizing it's not natural skill that makes someone better but better understanding and mechanics in the game. I got better through understanding these concepts more not just constant laddering. Now I almost never lose to him in BW, and that carried over to SC2. Theres times when you go on losing streaks and it's frustrating but if you enjoy the game its no reason to quit. I suggest watching some replays of you 2 and seeing what he does that you don't. Perhaps he hotkeys more than you or is more aware of the mini map. Or just macros better. Get better in those fields and get better. don't worry about losing. GL HF

Don't quit on SC2, especially if you do enjoy the game. Ladder can be quite frustrating, I've been struggling with it since I began my way on my own improvement. I think, what is important is, to have at least one or two friends to talk to about SC2/play with them when you just don't feel up to laddering and you need to find new confidence in your gameplay. If you read my blog, I've described many of these struggles on my way to improvement from complete noob to maybe one day decent player.
Giving up on something you enjoy is a bad move and you might regret it later. I've been there so many times in my life... not in SC2 per say, but I've been ther with other hobbies in past. I took SC2 as my own way towards changing that 'trend' because of the love I have for the game.
Now, you are diamond player. I am sure you do know your way around the game. Maybe you just need some touch there and there to fix these small gaps in your game. Again, a good friend who also plays might be an option.
No matter what, don't just throw the game away. I wish you good luck, sir :-)

I quit recently too. It's actually just not very fun compared to BW
I'm so sorry
|
Hmm...you were almost 3K diamond and you got demoted to platinum?
I was 2K diamond and I got promoted to masters! How does this make any sense?
Of course im joking...it just means that ladder rank and points mean nothing. NOTHING. You can never know how good you are. For all you know, your friend could be in a +2000 division modifier league. Just learn to love the game and beat your friend out in 1v1. Ladder shows nothing. Personal battles do.
1v1 xnc gogo

"People still mock me for that. I have always been embarrassed about that."
what? guessing teenager/teenage maturity....possible troll but a bit too much effort so i'll assume not
|
Quitting now will only make the mocking and harassment worse. Why even quit a game it's not like you have to play it making a big bold statement like this doesn't serve any purpose to me other than a pity party from your peers. We are here for you as a community but if your losing to players who are equally skilled than maybe you should be in Plat. Just know this, if your friend gives you crap about being better or having a higher score just play him in a 1v1 and beat em. I do wish the best of luck to you just don't go being so dramatic it's not good for the cause !
