This is my first, and probably last blog.
I really like SC2, I really do, at least I used to.
About 5 months ago, I finally got promoted into diamond. My friend, who also plays SC2, has been in diamond since about release. I have always competed with him, and we have always been about even in terms of skill.
About 1 week after I got promoted into diamond, I got demoted after a series of losses. I remember, I was 27th in my division and had about 1300 points before the demotion. People still mock me for that. I have always been embarrassed about that.
Fortunately about a month ago, after nearly non-stop laddering. I got promoted back to diamond, ahead of my friend too! It was tedious work, but worth it. I was 2200, and 17th in my division! he was only 1600!
He was fairly inactive at the time and decided to step it up. He had a huge bonus pool at the time, so he caught up in next to no time. From here, I wanted to stay ahead, so I admit, I cheesed sometimes. And it worked a little! I got points fast and stayed up with him until his bonus pool was burnt out.
Yesterday, he comes into school and announces he's been on a winning streak and has 3000 points! I was at 2700, and disappointed I was so low. He kept telling me to hurry up and get to masters, as he was almost there!
What I did is i played a lot. Yesterday night, I had a losing streak, and this morning it continued. I lost about 10 in a row total. but I was still 2600, and 7th in my division, demotion wasn't even on my mind.
It should have been, Today, I got demoted after winning 2 games and losing 1. I told everyone that my brother had been playing, and I was now too frustrated to ever play again. Only the second half is true.
I will now likely not play SC2 again, and also probably not come back to this site. So goodbye everyone, it's been a blast.

hehehe, lame way to quit. i just lost 12 in a row trying to get into masters. just dont give a fuck. (but give more of a fuck than me, or you wont improve)

It sounds to me like you are obsessed with arbitrary numbers and not actually getting better at the game. The ladder has a hidden estimated skill level that obviously decided you were not diamond material. Harsh, but probably true. I wish blizzard would just display the "hidden" level and rank people accordingly, but they do not.

Are you serious? Dude, I'm still Platinum (that's the highest I've ever been) and I still have the will to compete everyday. Everyone goes on losing streaks. Top players go on loser streaks. But you have to have the mentality to come back stronger and better. Otherwise, there was no point in you playing the game at all.

chill out man, it's not like it even matters. if you get so frustrated at tiny things like sc2, you're gonna be fucked when you have to deal with real life.
anyways, maybe some off-time is what you need. hopefully you realize how ridiculous this actually is and learn to enjoy the game.

if youre only playing to show you are better than your fiend then it was only a matter of time before one of you got pissed and quit
play for fun dude. play to get better for yourself, not so you can beat your buddy lol

If you are playing the game just to have your name with a higher number next to it or a different little emblem, then yea, quitting is your best bet. Play because its fun or you like improving and getting better. Don't think about ladder rank or anything that's silly!

But on a side note. It seems like your playstyle was very volatile. You had lots of streaks and were getting promoted and demoted often. I am not too sure if that is a common occurrence. I know from my experience that I worked from silver to diamond and then changed races and got demoted after 20 games. I am now still in platinum trying to get back to diamond. It seems like your cheesy play might be the main reason you were getting into diamond and when you tried to play more standard you found it difficult to keep your winning ways. But that is just an assumption, and you know what happens when you do that.

I don't play SC2 but how hard is it to play with other people in non-ladder matches? If you really like the game then that might be an alternative to laddering.

I think you shouldn't take SC2 too serious. The most important thing is to have fun and if fun for you is about only gaining points and going up to masters then its up to you.
When I feel frustrated with SC I take a time off and play something else (Magicka is blast! ^^). Take a week off. You'll probably feel much better and ready to climb the ladder up till the end.
But I'm only and Silver league noob so what do I know??

It's like when I would go on a huge losing streak on iccup, I would ragequit and take a break for a few days. No reason to completely quit playing a game you like just because you had a bad day laddering, happens to everyone.
Ladder is gonna be reset in awhile anyways. Seriously, why do you care so much about this.

The problem with the inflated ranks on Bnet 0.2 is that people have gotten a sense of entitlement from their rank. On ICCUP you knew where you were supposed to be in terms of rank and it was up to you--and you alone to get better.
I think OP's age/maturity are questionable.
