Huh? What are you even saying? If you want to address my comment, then at least do so properly, rather than some ambiguous statement. If he was sitting at 2700 in diamond then his MMR is going to be decently high. In order to get to 2700 you have to WIN not lose, which would increase his MMR, not decrease it. Explain what you mean please.

"losing streak of 10"
he wasnt a solid diamond player, hence promos/demos. system obviously matched him against players of lower mmr, he lost lots. 2 wins werent enough to improve his rating, so he got demoted. he cant deal with that.

YEAH! Grow up! How immature of you to make a decision about quitting something as adult and mature as a rated "T" video game! The fact that you quit a video game that you don't enjoy just makes me, and the rest of us grown up adults, sick.
Live it up.

Ur mmr is not necessarily higher. If you are at 2700 and you have long losing streaks, ur mmr really drops since you're going to face lower and lower opponents. However I don't think you can be demoted after like 10 losing streak because I've had longer and still in diamond.

I understand how you feel OP about being competitive with friends. I have a friend that I am especially competitive with but we don't care about ladder number or division. We 1v1 to see who is better.

There's no reason you should quit SC2 because of your rank. It doesn't make sense. Do you quit school because you got an A in math and then a D in math the next year?

At this point everyone has around 2700 points in bonus pool.

Lets say, if there was no bonus pool, you were borderline diamond/platinum. You won 50% and lost 50% of your games, and you rating would stay at 0 in diamond.

Because we have bonus pool, you get twice as many points for a win as you lose for a loss. So even if hes still borderline Diamond/Platinum, if hes used up enough of his bonus pool his rating will look high.

The battle.net system ignores the bonus pool part of your rating for matchmaking and promotions/demotions.

This might come as a shocker, but the player in question may have used more than 2.7k bonus points to reach 2700 diamond.

What does this imply?

He loses more than he wins. The bonus pool, and his lack of understanding thereof, caused him to mistakenly believe that he really was at the skill level of a 2.7k diamond player.

EDIT: Looks like Oco beat me to it.

Who the hell cares if you get demoted or not? It's really ridiculous to react to a demotion this way. Who really gets made fun of for not being demoted too? You sound like you are very self-conscious around your friends too...

hahaha yeah i know that feeling. 4 days ago i did what i always tell myself not to: i got up and started playing basically the entire day. was like 40 games or sth? i didnt do it intentionally but i kept losing these stupid games and wanted to get rid of this losing streak as the day passed on, so did my rating. i plummeted from 2997 masters to 2790....felt so shitty afterwards, like seriously depressed. i find it amazing how worked up i can get over something so trivial as a video game. but then i guess its the case with anything where youre aspiring to become good and experience a series of setbacks.
as it stands, im almost back up to my previous rating because i feel that bnet keeps matching me to less proficient players, sort of evening out my losing streak.
so buckle up and dont let it drag you down man.

No kidding, obvious attention ploy. If you were serious about quitting you would have just quit and been done with it not make this QQ blog about why your quitting. Children are funny.

Reminds me of a guy named Gary.

He started before his friend, Ash. Beat his friend soundly the first time. Cleared the first few gyms easily and was way ahead of his friend. His friend fell behind for awhile, but thanks to his friend's "bonus pool" (better sweeper), his friend started catching up.

So Gary became frantic and worked even harder, eventually working his way into the elite league, and becoming the grand champion. But a little later he lost to Ash and found Ash had surpassed him.

Thats what happens when you use SC2 ladder as the measure of whos dick is biggest, your friends or yours.

And if you quit now, your dick will be smaller for ever.

Good on you. I've been trying to quit my self also. I'm also shocked at how easy it is to get demoted? It seems a little unfair considering how hard you have to work in order to get promoted.

Why are people getting upset about losing games on ladder. I have sometimes quit a game because I forgot to make my second supply depot. If you play enough games you stop caring about win/loss ratio

What a lame way to quit, just any game not only SC2. I can't believe you and your friend compete with each other via ladder points. That doesn't mean shit.
Play 1v1 head on with him, who win the most is the better one. Plus, playing the game is for fun. I had great fun playing team games with my friends.
Hope you come back,,,,'cos quiting like this is STUPID
