cool, would like to see how their war3 and broodwar players do in sc2 once they switch over. They have some really sick players
|
From a statistical view-point at least one top-calibre player will appear from china that will sweep the GSL.
|
hope some wc3 players make the switch... great news for esports... hope to see them at GSL in the not too distant future.

What was political about stating that the game has been approved in China and will hopefully soon be released? Different countries have different censorship things. China has a huge WC3 community and is generally a big player in the E-sports Market so this is gaming news, not political.

User was warned for this post why would you warn someone for saying something liek this? hard to speak the truth these days without havin people get butthurt eh? yes, because starting a revolution due to a lack of starcraft sounds like a great idea. I duno how ppl relate the approval process of a game to dictatorship......you guys do realize the blood in Korean sc2 is black right? Guess who made that change necessary. It is not black lol
Theres an option for reduced violence, not sure what that does tho since I never used it.

fact: chinese people are happy. sure there are rallies/riots that the government wishes to quell down. guess what, there are rallies/riots in your country as well (wherever that may be). sure there are poor people in china, guess what, there are poor people in your country as well.
you want to support a revolution, in exchange for what? the united states of america capitalism form of government? if the USA has such a perfect government, why china gonna take over them in economy in a few years? do you wish for me to cite to you links on studies made on when china will take over america economically? or has america's propaganda machine called "Fox News" brainwashed you already during Bush administration? (cause they seem to hate obama these days lol)
heck you westerners dont even take care of your parents. you send them to a place where old people go when they get old. talk about values huh? they raised you up, and you put them in a home for the aged? now why dont YOU start a revolution against this in YOUR own country? why not make a revolution of taking care of parents even when they're old, letting them stay in your home like chinese/asians do?
now that should be an easier revolution isn't it? but no, it's easier for people like you to butt in a computer game forum & talk about politics & revolution, feeling all noble & stuffs. tsk tsk tsk...
you westerners keep butting in other people's business. us chinese are happy in majority. stop watching Fox News for once mr. westerner.

Hmm,
You are maybe right. Almost everything we read, see and hear about China seems to be political these days. Google being cencored, human rights activists imprisoned, the Nobel peace price boycotted and so on and so forth. So, when I read the OP I assumed it was political. Ministry of Culture sounded like some "big brother" sort of agency. After looking into it, it seems as if the Ministry of Culture is really only a Ministry of Culture, nothing more nothing less. So the whole thing is more about level of violence and things like that. Thanks for the "hint".

hmmm, eOlympics... a possibility, but merging esports with conventional Olympics might create too much conflict and ego/pride based warfare. aka, waspy mofos that think playing video games rots your brains and is there for responsible for everything bad in the world - I'm so tired of those people.

Any news on this? As far as I can tell the game isn't out and there is no server. Whats the hold-up?
|
I'm trying to start a blog for Western readers covering the emerging SC2 pros coming out of China. I want to write up articles on the backgrounds of the players, provide links for replays, and later on, produce casts in English of the most interesting games.
My mandarin is not very good, as I've only been studying for two years, but if there's anyone out there than can help me translate info from the Chinese sources, it would be appreciated.
|
There is already a translation "club" on tl, mostly korean, but also some chinese translations.

Im currently in China, and my Chinese friend just let me know there will be a Chinese SC2 tournament soon, on Chinese server, which currently is NOT up yet. However if I have the date correct Chinese BETA sc2 will go live 29th of March. Information regarding the tournament can be found on www.starcraft2.com.cn (currently off line) If I remember correct beta keys can be bought for 59RMB (like 6~7euro's I think that's about 10USD?) But all in all i'm not too sure about it, will try to update when I find the exact info, which i'm gonna look for when I get home.
Please don't quote this message for 'facts' since it's all on memory of some news I read on sc2.plu.cn and sc2.com.cn early March, and my Chinese isn't fluent so I might've miss interpreted some things. I don't want to cause false hope ;-)
