This is gonna be reaaaaallly interesting. China developed a pretty decent progaming culture with bw and wc3. I wonder if this huge delay in the release will hinder F91 & others a lot or if they will be able to get competitive soon.

Start a revolution. Its time to stop the totalitarian dictatorship in China. Egypt should be an example.

I should stop talking about China in combination with totalitarian dictatorship or this site will be blocked within China.

This is a very exciting news! I feel that this will increase SC2's popularity even more. As much of a long shot as it is, I sure wish Sky switches to SC2 sometime soon!

So what server will they play on? Taiwan or their own separate one? Personally i think they should get their own server because China is so big.

Hell, it's about time.
It should be really interesting to see how Blizzard deals with the server situation, seeing that there is no dedicated China server and they only have servers for Korea, Taiwan, and SEA. Hopefully, the influx of Chinese gamers will make the SC2 scene explode even more and perhaps allow for more Chinese progamers in addition to Loner and friends.

Probably a seperate one, so the government can take control.

Is Starcraft 2 allowed in North Korea? Are they on the same server as South Korea?

I know this is off topic but did anyone else read "China's ministry of culture" and immediatley think of George Orwell's 1984?

The question occurs: Was Loner playing the game illegally then? Or does this only mean people couldn’t buy it in China while they were still allowed to play it?

I think people could legally buy the Taiwanese version in China, though there was no official Chinese version on sale or available due to the game still being processed by the Chinese bureaucracy. Also, there was no Chinese server, so Chinese players had to play through other Asian servers.

Loner was probably playing the game legally, though it was probably through the Taiwanese client and not a mainland Chinese one.

This approval from the government probably means that an official localized Chinese version can now be sold and distributed instead of the Taiwanese one, which could possibly mean that a Chinese server could probably be up soon.

Lol just had to quote it, if people didnt know who Loner was, they would be confused as hell.

But I do hope youre right, it would be great to see more Chinese Progamers

Brilliant news! this will add a huge chunk of players and fans to the already existing community. If PlayXP is big, i can only imagine whats gonna happen on the upcoming months.

To all chinese SC2 fans: have fun and bring to the community some huge players

Official Chinese version SC2 with simplified Chinese language and Chinese server(zhCN)

Now very few people play SC2 in China because of lag and few tournaments.Hope it will be better soon.
