Only way to pay extra money for these sites is through illegal means(vpn mainly, or other proxies) "Anyway this is fcking awesome, missed this news when i checked the chinese site earlier today, maybe it wasn't up yet. I wonder though, what they will do with the price, because 40euro will be like 400RMB which is quite some money for an average Chinese person to spend on a video game. Can't wait to see an official release date for the game. Made my day :-D" Many people who will have computers can afford this, you'd be surprised how much money a middle class family has here. But im still hoping they go for something cheaper, I know the chinese wow version is way cheaper, like 15rmb for every 60hours of in game time or something.

![]() Really interested to see if SC2 will blow up there like it did in the rest of the world, we might see some real talent from their deep player pool. Then again, the gaming scene is very different in China, they are more into MMOs and dota I believe.

I'm in China, not Hong Kong, Beijing and people here are happy with 5000RMB/month salary. So i'd say 400RMB isn't all that cheap. If VPN is illegal why does the chinese goverment give out VPNs to foreign employees? Edit: Person above stated 200RMB, according to PlayXP, I guess that's a reasonable price.

It should be really interesting to see how Blizzard deals with the server situation, seeing that there is no dedicated China server and they only have servers for Korea, Taiwan, and SEA. Hopefully, the influx of Chinese gamers will make the SC2 scene explode even more and perhaps allow for more Chinese progamers in addition to Loner and friends. Lol just had to quote it, if people didnt know who Loner was, they would be confused as hell. But I do hope youre right, it would be great to see more Chinese Progamers I don't see the point in quoting him, it's not like you explained who Loner was, so... You just repeated what he said. //tx

Edit: Person above stated 200RMB, according to PlayXP, I guess that's a reasonable price. sorry had hk tag on from awhile but i live in gaungzhou. and i know a lot of people have shit salary(5000rmb/month is pretty good) but there's also a lot of people with a lot of money...(that's just how china is I suppose, many people with out and many people with) I never knew vpn could be given out to foreigners, I always just saw the adds saying you could buy it and such and assumed you could if you wanted to but it's just an illegal way to bypass their censorship :p I'll pick up a copy if it's really 200rmb, not too bad. Does anyone know a website that will have a list of local tournies and such? Need to brush up on my skills but I can probably hold my own in them :>

Or maybe it was another way to try and compete and show cultural dominance by winning tournaments? When you have a communist power in control of a country i'm hard pressed to believe that they just felt like allowing the people to have fun and contact with community that is not very similar to theirs with no other motive.... just my 2 cents.... Because it's just a game. China is not North Korea.

Loner (and any other chinese player playing SC2) is NOT playing the game illegally, the Chinese goverment has waited until now to allow the game to be released in China (for whatever reasons they have, rangeing from 'domestic product protection' to 'unnapropriate ingame stuff'). It was howeverr not illegal to buy a Taiwanese/US/EU/SEA/KR version of the game, the chinese version of the game (simplified chinese compared to the Taiwanese traditional chinese) just hadn't passed all the requirements for being released in china yet (and very likely the ministry of culture had no rush doing so). All games go through this process. As far as I'm concerned gaming in china is not limited by whatever 'harsh gaming law' there are however several specific online games (this DOES NOT include WoW) that have a daily limited play time. Youtube isn't illegal in china either, it's just censored and you have to pay extra money monthly to have acces to it, same goes for facebook etc. I think this is mainly done to stimulate domestic products (e.g: youku.com, renren.com etc.) correct me if i'm wrong here though. Anyway this is fcking awesome, missed this news when i checked the chinese site earlier today, maybe it wasn't up yet. Can't wait to see an official release date for the game. Made my day :-D edit: according to sc2.com.cn the chinese release is Q2 2011 http://www.sc2.com.cn/1102/161618391733.html edit 2: miss translated, it should be 'before Q2 2011'. The game was approved jan 19, confirmed by blizzard, NetEase and Ministry of culture ( source = same link) Gonna quote this in an attempt to stem the tide of ignorance maybe even racism in this thread. On-topic: I'm pretty excited about what this will do for the e-sports scene. I don't think China will be above Korea in SC2 simply because China doesn't have the tolerance of gaming culture that Korea does, but I'm sure China will be above NA and probably EU within 12-18 months. I doubt the top WC3 pros will switch over since the WC3 scene in China is still so huge, but I'd expect there to be enough talent to play SC2 at a competitive level soon. Affordability of decent computers or lack thereof isn't that huge a problem either since China is far richer than it was in the BW/WC3 days, but it will still be a hindrance for the average student.
