Barcelona is a good choice. I've had some bad experiences with spanish hotels, but that's probably only my bad luck. The city does lose some of its flair in winter, though. I wanted to recommend visiting Germany as well, but I can't to so with a straight face after downrating Amsterdam. You'll need a 1-2 week long vacation to truely appreciate Germany as a holiday location, since you'll have to travel a bit to enjoy various aspects of culture and nature. But if you manage to squeeze in a trip to Berlin, go ahead.

research average precipitation for the destinations you want to travel to. Not so much for the actual precipitation but to see how often it is clouded. Many tourist stuff looks and feels way better in more direct light (happened to me in amsterdam). Other than that, if you are not found of cold climate, greece has tons of history stuff (duh!) and italy can be nice as a tourist. Never been to spain/portugal so i can't comment. If you don't mind the cold, GO SEE PARIS! Skip london and see berlin/amsterdam/vienna instead. I didn't find london interesting at all, but maybe that's different for you 2 because you might know more about it's history than i do. In any case, ask someone local to give you tips. This is actually really important as it can save you money and enrich your experience by a lot!

Definitely go to Germany, maybe a small bias here as I lived there for about a year and a half but it really is an awesome place, you could go from Amsterdam-Hamburg-Berlin. What Krok(obs) says is true, you can find clubs in Berlin that are "day clubs" as in you go out at 2am and stay in a club till 2pm..crazy experience. Don't pay any attention to the person that says not to go to London..wtf. It's a little bit miserable in terms of the weather, but you should DEFINITELY go to London, it's top 5 for me in Europe. I'm a little hesitant to recommend places like Italy because they're probably better with Sun..but considering you're going with your girlfriend..take her to Venice and you'll get some good sex? Also you've gotta go to Paris as well, that's a no brainer as you're going with your girlfriend. Honestly it's kinda hard for me to give you more advice as I don't really know what you're into.. The places I can recommend purely because you're going with your girlfriend are: Barcelona, London, Paris and Venice..but other than that it's really up to you. Just remember it's gonna be fucking cold in certain places, -10 in Germany etc..but you're going in Winter so I hope you expect that? Don't let it deter you either, just make sure you have a big jacket, beanie, gloves, scarf etc and you'll be fine. Have fun!

The more time you stay, the better. You could easily stay a week in each city, but it would get expensive and i don't know how much time you have. Conservatively, maybe stay 3 days in each city.

We only have about 2 and 1/2 weeks in total because of work. Despite some people saying don't bother with London we kind of have to include the UK because my mum and some other relatives are there so that's going to be the first week of our trip (London and Cambridge) and I'm thinking of going up to York because I've heard some good things about it. For the rest of it we booked some really cheap flights through Ryan Air and Easyjet. So basically we're going to do this: Fly from London to Barcelona and stay there for 3 nights -> by air to Paris for 2 nights -> by Thalys train to Bruges for 2 nights -> by local train to Amsterdam for 3 nights -> by air on Easyjet back to London. Some people mentioned Brussels but from what I've read on other places Bruges sounded a bit nicer. I know there's lots of other cool places and Germany, Greece and Cyprus sound fun as well but I don't think we have the time to do them justice on this trip. By winter I did mean the northern hemisphere winter (February). Not ideal I know but at least Barcelona shouldn't be too cold (fingers crossed) and on the plus side I guess accommodation prices will be less and the tourist places less crowded. Hwangjae terran- I know what you mean I quite like being out in the countryside too but since we're going to be there in winter probably we'll be better off sticking to the cities. My mum's house is in a pretty small village near cambridge at least.
