Lol I dont really like the M14, FAL is a whole other story tho, i can get some decent stats with that weapon. Usually tho i use the AK74U, to me its the best handling gun in the game if you consider the mobility carrying a SMG gives you (i mainly play CTF). Edit: Using Lightweight, Warlord (for grip and rapid fire) and Marathon (all pro). Oh, it for sure is the best. But on CoD 4 I always used the G3, and on MW2 I always used the FAL. I just have this natural preference for semi-auto rifles. Yeah i know that, they just feel really accurate, at least the FAL is that way for me. What i hate with a passion are burst rifles like the god damn M16. I cant stand when the gun shoots 3 times when what i really want is 1 or 2 shots.
Really? After semi-auto rifles, I prefer the burst rifles. Lol

So ive heard this game is actually worse than MW2 ( how it possible? ) in terms of netcode, hitboxes and just overall latency in the game. True or false?

Game itself is fine (aside from spawn points I guess). But what pisses me off is the constant freezes and unpredictable lag/stutterness.

So far in my experience (on xbox) I'd say true. I've started to notice really stupid latency related things - such as smoke from a smoke grenade clearing up faster on their screen than mine. Like I will be killed and wonder how the hell the guy saw me since the smoke was in full effect for me. Then I will watch the killcam and the smoke is completely gone for the other guy. The hit boxes seem really sketchy sometimes too, like seeing hit markers for shots clearly hitting nothing but air in kill cams.
I'm honestly getting to the point where if I feel like playing COD I might go back to MW2.

I have no idea where you have heard that, but out of all the COD games, this one is by far one of the best. Overall I have 2 problems with it. 1. Spawns. In almost every mode, the spawns are F'ing Terrible! You always get people spawning behind you unless your whole team is with you supporting you. Its not a huge problem though. Just makes you play a little less run and gun, and a little more team oriented. Which imo can only be a good thing. 2. Lag. I'm not talking FPS (which Ive heard 2nd hand its a huge problem (Isn't for me.)) The way this game handles server lag is very odd. Like most games, when your lagging most of the time the guy responds faster server side and kills you first. The way this game seems too handle lag, is it jsut shows him in a different place on your screen then he actually is. So often what happens is you shoot where the server shows him being, but on his end the shots never register. He then jsut shoots at you and kills you first. Its the oddest thing and I have no idea how it works at all, but it seems to happen whenever I play against people with high Latency.
Overall the game is amazing. PC version is as good as COD4 in every way, if not even better. I would recommend it highly if you are even interested in COD games at all.

True.
It removed the majority of the irritating BS from MW2 (aside from everyone having a weaker version of Commando always on) which is a major plus, but Treyarch apparently can't code multiplayer very efficiently. Black Ops actually lags my internet. Every now and then my connection will just suddenly drop to one bar and I'll be noticeably lagging.
Was playing with a friend the other day and it started up. I glanced at ventrilo and saw that my normally 47 ping had shot up to 2300. I wait a few moments to see if it'll go away and it goes up to 3k. I manage to go prone in a corner, hoping it'll subside (never has in the past) and my ping eventually shot all the up to 8,000. Left the game. Ping immediately dropped back to normal and I was able to talk on vent again. Oh, and if I was playing with friends and try to join their session (when it works) the lag usually starts right back up the moment I get back into the game. I've seen my ping shoot past 20,000, which is utterly retarded.
The party system is also pretty bad. Takes quite awhile to get a group together, and half the time it'll prevent me from joining with my friends (my internet isn't the greatest, but hasn't been a huge problem before). No problem, right? Just join their session. Friend tells me that it's currently 2v5. Try to join.... "The game session is no longer available." Repeated attempts fail the same way, even when they play out the round, start the next game and I still can't join. Multiple times two friends have gotten on, sent the invites out (repeatedly, usually) after about 5 minutes of trying to either get in their party and failing, or getting in the party but not joining the same lobby with them, I just kinda wander off and play alone for a bit.
Hitboxes. I heard (so not certain) that it simply uses a "different" system than MW2 which is closer to the COD4 system. Essentially the hitbox extends slightly in front of moving targets (presumably to simulate needing to adjust for bullet travel time or something of that nature) as opposed to the dead on hit scan at the time you pull the trigger in MW2. I've seen some people bitch about hit detection while sniping but honestly I haven't noticed that much of a problem when I subject myself to the game's sniping system. Wouldn't say I've played around with it enough to know if there is or isn't an issue there, especially as I don't even try to use 3 of the 4 sniper rifles at the moment.
At least half the maps are designed pretty horribly, too. Spawn problems (being worked on) just make them worse. They're also just generally kinda bland. Got no soul! There's a few good ones available which are fairly fun/interesting to play, at least.

Theres nothing wrong with the hitboxes its the hit detection that needs to be fix. Have you ever sprayed a clip at someone and didn't kill him? and for sure you shot him in the head at least 3 times?. Thats one of the major problems with BO. Now the spawn system....Just one word FAIL.

You have to tweak Black Ops allot if you want it to run smoothly on PC. Out of the box it preforms badly. I got good hit registry and no lag spikes but I have changed about 15-20 lines in my config. troubleshooting config edits
also to the guy talking about semi autos here is me rocking the m14 with grip. It's my favorite gun. I don't like the FAL thought because I hate horizontal recoil and much rather have vertical

It will happen often that an engagement happens and you're like "Wha... what?" then you see the killcam and see that the situation was quite different on his end. MW2 was definitely a lot better at handling server lag.

the spawn system is weird. Basically it searches to see if an enemy is nearby and if they are looking at the spawn. If all the spawns are occupied by enemies than the game just spawns players in spawns that no enemy is looking at even if you are standing 10 feet from it. On some ctf maps you can stand in one of the spawns and look at the another one and force the enemy team to spawn else where, which is lame considering maps like radiation only have 3 spawn points for ctf so you can spawn kill using this method pretty easily considering you know where everyone is going to appear.
|
I find it pretty odd that most of you are complaining about the spawns when they are a million times better than cod4 which is considered the best COD so far. Now that you all can't complain about spawn camping you complain about enemies spawning close to you. Sure it's annoying that you get shot in the back by someone that just spawn a few seconds ago but it's much much better than spawning into bullets. The main problem with the spawn system is the smaller maps that Black Ops uses but all games using brand new maps have problems(blizzard maps anyone?) , so we can either choose to play on the larger maps or just improve your skill and learn to check behind you and take paths/camp more effectively. Not to mention that once you figure out how the spawn systems really works and can get a good feel for how the flow of the map shifts you will have less and less problems with people spawning right behind you, even on Nuketown.
To address the lag I can assure you that myself and hundreds of thousands of other PC players have absolutely no problem with connection issues. The 'FPS" problem is a little bit different but as long as you have the appropriate specs to run the game there are innumerable fixes and tweaks that can help you too achieve totally smooth play.
You guys need to stop complaining about this amazing game and learn to use and then exploit the tools given to you.

I've stopped play SC2 after realizing I am a much better player in FPS, and no one goes like "LOL CARRIER LOL DOESNT WORK" even if you use weird build.

Nuketown is sooo good to level up in. I went from 1-50 in like 3 days :o

Was rather disappointed with the game overall, the story mode was really weak and the multi-player really didn't seem to have anything special to it either, just seems like another rehashed cod game that left me wanting to play the original COD instead.

Does this fix the final kill cam lag?
