From the PS3 thread. http://www.callofduty.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=313365&sid=scp3fi0o35av91ruhqklk7kvr7
11/18 · Improvements to the spawn system to resolve an issue where negative spawn influencers from specific game events were not always being deleted after the danger had cleared – in some matches, this was causing good spawns to be erroneously flagged by the game as bad spawns, which in turn forced actual bad spawns to get selected later in the match · Experimental slight reduction in knife lunge range – this is a trial change · Prevention of Prestige glitching – trying to prestige from Combat Training will reset your stats but not give you prestige
Hot damn. From reading Vahn's thread about spawning, I'm almost positive that the issue vaguely mentioned about spawns is napalm. He mentioned around page 10 or so that they found a bug that was causing Napalm to flag sections of the map as bad. Apparently it didn't unflag after the Napalm was gone. As he explained there, with software (and many things) once they've changed one thing they have to get a whole new set of data to see what may still be causing an issue. There's a number of things, as most anyone with a brain can see, but at least they're making progress.
Personally, I think that spawns should only be useable once every second or two. Having half of a team stream out of one or two spawn points (not a spawn area, which would be fine, but a single spot in such that you see your teammate's back 5 feet in front of you as he just spawned there) over the course of 4 seconds is just silly, especially when you walk around the corner and have three guys staring you in the face since you spawned 20 feet away.
|
The change to the spawns is quite horrible. In a game yesterday, I spawned in Napalm 2 times. My friend spawned in napalm THREE TIMES IN A ROW. Died 3 times in like 2 seconds, awesome right? The map was firing range on demolition, and we jumped into an already lost game where we were horribly spawn-raped, so hopefully it won't happen to people too often.
They didn't even fix the matchmaking though, it's still messed up on 360, parties are split constantly.

I wonder if the RCXD isn't flagged either because today I was killed twice by one after spawning before I could react.
Some more of my thoughts about the multiplayer now that I've clocked around 35 hours:
-Famas and AK74 are not only the best guns in the game, but they seem to be quickly gaining popularity. I was in a server today where literally half the players had a Famas and a quarter had the AK74. I suspect that if they aren't nerfed a bit we'll see nothing but these 2 guns in serious play.
-Shotguns are not useless. Silenced Spas with lightweight, steady aim and marathon is a really fun and quite effective way to play. You just need to be smart about which routes you take around the map and make good use of your flash/stun nades.
-Claymores are the dumbest thing in any mulitplayer game ever. The add nothing but frustration to the game, take no skill to use and are not rewarding to use. There is no reason for them to be in the game other than a free kill per life to whoever is using them.

So I know this may be a tad off topic and such, but I search TL and didn't find any info on it. is there any efforts to start a Call of Duty Clan for TL. I know that TL isn't a professional Call of Duty site, but I just mean casually.
You can get like hundreds of people in a clan and then just have like online "meetups" and stuff and play like TL only games.
I know it said something about the PC having clans for TL in the OP, but what about for the console versions, i.e. PS3, and XBOX 360.
These are just ideas, and I feel it would be a cool way to get the community together.
--Proposed clan tag: [TL] (short, simple, and to the point) or [xTLx] (just to fill up the 4 characters)
Or (one more idea, and then I'm done) having LAN/private tournies. Just for fun though. Get like 4 player teams and have tourney once in a while on each CoD console (PS3, XBOX 360, PC). It would be similar to the TL open, but for Call of Duty. Idk, I know that this idea might not be so popular on a TL, a pro starcraft site, but I think it would be cool. Plus, we stay even more relevant if we expand slightly, not by much, just slightly.
Like I said, these are ideas, no need to take 'em seriously, but I think it would be cool.

The case with the weapons have been the same in almost every CoD game. In cod4 you rarely saw any gun except the AKs (47 and 74) and the M40 in competitive play. In MW2 you basically only saw the ACR.
As for claymores, why don't you use hacker? That's the only third perk in my opinion that's useful.
Edit: Sorry for (triple??) post.

Oh.. and fuck nuketown. Map is way too small to take seriously. Throw in domination or CTF and it becomes a clusterfuck. I won't even go into the spawn system. In some situations it's pretty fun and interesting. In others it's an aggrivating death trap.
1. About the guns you only have to play a few games to get to lvl 10 and then you can have plenty of ok guns. I like how it's done, it let you discover the guns bit by bit. Also don't forget to buy contracts.
2. Just press ESC --> Choose class
3. NukeTown DOM is the shiznit, it's the only game I play all the time, so fun and yeah there is skill, it's not as random as you think.
I will be prestige 2 pretty soon, I'm almost at 40 !!!
Yesterday I break my record on Nuke, 5500 pts on a full server, something like 55-15 5 capt 4 def.
Come play on 24/7 Nuke DOM, there is 2 americans servers that are running all the time, i'll post em if someone is interested.

I only saw intervention in mw2. xD

Hacker is only a free kill per life on people without Hacker. Just use Hacker, and you have no excuse to ever be killed by Claymores again.

Anyone know some good barebone servers? I recently played on one and I have to say the game is much more enjoyable without all the killstreaks, perks and equipment. Now you can purely focus on enemies and listen to footsteps and not worry about an rcxd racing around the corner. I wonder why you can't filter on barebone, makes me sad.

Jammers also short out claymores (all equipment, I believe). Tested it in a private match and the claymore simply wouldn't trigger (they are constantly fizzling while withing the jammer range). I heard that Jammers make the RC XD hard to drive, but that appears to be false. Even started driving while within the Jammer range (so both the car and the player were within enemy Jammer range) and saw no difference.
It can be a tad tricky to use effectively, but it's still a better and more useable version of Scrambler. Seems that more and more people are realizing that using Hacker is a really good option due to everyone having an equipment slot, so some people you run into will hunt it down rather quickly. I had some limited success with it in Headquarters while using it to get Hacker Pro instead of using a Motion Sensor this time.

I find myself using Hacker more often too. It feels sometimes like a wallhack because a lot of people camp near their equipment. When I'm not using Hacker I use Warlord Pro most of the time. Extra tactical nades and frag nades really help out.

I just bought this game and a 360..havent played any console games for literally years. Man I'm getting smashed. Sometimes on small maps I'll do decent, like go 7-7 or maybe 10-8 but like on big complicated maps I'm just running around like a chicken with my head cut off getting owned and go like 1-14. I guess I should maybe play single player and get used to it before just going online.

Haha, yeah if you watch on youtube, but in competitive play (not sniper lobbys), like in MLG, if you watched the stream you would've noticed. The commentators basically joked about snipers. When one team was so far behind they had no chance of getting back the commentator was like: "Now is the time to whip out that 50cal and have some fun".

Can anyone post the PC patch notes? o_o

guys, is it only me or AK47 has like no recoil lol? i always thought people are using grip with ak47, but then i reached level 38,picked it up, saw that there is no grip, tried in game.. fucking amazing realy lol

@ all the people saying "use hacker, don't worry about claymores"
Yeah, I know what hacker does and that doesn't change the fact that claymores are still a stupid idea in a fast paced fps game. I shouldn't be forced to select a single perk just so I don't randomly explode every third or fourth corner I turn.

Finally found a sniper load out that worked for me:
sniper: WA2000 with extended mags and acog scope. sidearm: cz75 with extended mags perks: Ghost, Warlord Pro, any third I have Ninja equipment: Frags,Nova gas, Claymore.
Tried for a long time to make it work with scopes, but the maps are just not suited for long range sniping. And the scope sway is so awful that any AR can easily kill you on long range engagements. Since I have put on an acog sight I get a lot more kills. Aim for the chest and you get one hit kills. The claymore to secure a chokepoint. If your claymore is gone use nova gas to lock down chokepoints if enemies are trying to flank. Thought to share this for other people wanting to snipe. Just don't use the zooming scopes, Acog on any sniper will do better I think.
