Never played any CoD and since Black ops looks cool I want it just for casual gaming like 2-3 hours a week, but I don't want cheater to ruin my experience. I also don't know anything about steam. Yeah I don't play many games

I heard about some pretty badly modded lobbies in MW2 for the 360 and the PC is a PC. People will always find a way to mod stuff when it's on actual computers. I've never really ran into stuff while playing COD on my PS3 that seemed really offkilter, beyond people that hacked 10th prestige. That doesn't impact the actual game, though, so it doesn't really matter like most cheats/hacks would. I don't really play much on Steam, so I can't really say how well VAC works. Black Ops is on the list of games that make use of it, though. I wouldn't be too worried about going into games that were nothing but aimbotters, least not for a good long while.

Yeah I don't play many games COD4 and WaW used Punkbuster. Since Black Ops is going back to dedicated servers I'd expect them to go back to that.

Dedicated servers will make that much better, since you can ban/kick unwanted players from your servers if you wish don't forget you have to pay for the dedicated servers tho

I'm kinda confused by the dedicated server cost, I don't have time to watch the whole video to find the section explaining it. Does the person setting up the server have to pay a buck for each slot? Or is it like a dollar whenever I want to join a dedicated server? Obviously that sounds stupid but I just want to know what's going on before I buy anything.

If for example I suddenly want to play CoD could I just login into a game and join these dedicated servers? Sorry if my questions are stupid, basically played only blizzard games in my life.

Hopefully treyarch moves this franchise into a new direction. Dude 20 Million copies sold Of course they will try to make game as casual as they can.

MW2 is the most horrible & casual game ever, to my experience.

CoD4 was then released and perks and stuff like that were introduced and that's when the game became became mainstream (also first time it released on consoles - excluding the mess of CoD3 [console only]). The game was admitably fresh and fun to pub and stuff like that, but the competitive scene did not interest me anymore. The guns had basically no recoil, excluding the Ak47, and my beloved bolt action rifle was no longer available (it makes sense historically I guess). Then came, CoD:WaW. I had high hopes for this since it was going back to WW2 era. However, Treyarch is TERRIBLE. They basically just reskinned everything and ported it over with new shitty maps. The game was beyond awful. This is the same company that released CoD3 which was also trash. I played this game like 30 hours max...considering i played the original 1000+ hours...yeah.... Then came MW2, they didn't have dedicated servers, enough said. Never played it despite the fact that all of the sudden all my friends were OBSESSED with call of duty. Anyways, as for this next installment. I may give it a try simply because dedicated servers are back. However, I have very low expectations due to the fact that Treyarch is somehow back. I doubt the competitive scene will ever get back to the glory days of vCoD, but one can only hope. p.s. i take it from reading comments that people seem to have only started playing call of duty at CoD4.
