To this day, there are still CoD4 tournaments being ran rather instead of MW2 or WAW, simply because it's the better game. | ||

I'm not really up for going for PC again, after playing COD4, WaW, and MW2 on PC. I played a little MW2 on 360 a while ago, and Jesus Christ, people on Console are just utter shit generally. This was only reaffirmed for me when I played Halo Reach, and even though I basically never played a Halo game, I was and still am kicking kids asses left and right because kids on Console tend to not know this little concept called positioning and retreat. So instead of dealing with lolmoneydedicatedservers that are running on GameServers nonetheless (Christ, that's a lot of points off right out the gate). To add on, I'm sure a lot of good servers probably wont be coming back since they'll need to be paying 18.00$ a month for a max server, and the predominate number of CoD4 and WaW servers have 20-32 max slots in it, which wont be possible anymore. Thus taking out the uniqueness of PC, and I can only imagine people making their own servers P2P too. So I decided to go get it for console. I'll rape some console kiddies for a while, and then start to dick around. To put it simply, I'm getting for xbox for the lulz. | ||

Yes, you'll be able to jump right in and play on the dedicated servers. You'll have a server browser that will show you a list of all the servers, how many people are in them, what game mode they're running, what maps they're on, etc. You'll be able to sort them to find what you're looking for, and if you find a server that you particularly like you'll be able to favorite it sort of like you would a web page. That way you'll be able to quickly find it again when you want to play again. Previous COD games up until MW2 used a program called PunkBuster, which is installed along with the game and runs in the background. If you join a server with PunkBuster enabled it will detect whether or not you are using cheats, and if you are, you'll be immediately banned. However, all of those games did not require Steam to be used. The newer COD games require Steam and thus use a program called VAC. VAC is similar to PunkBuster, but it doesn't automatically ban people when it detects them using hacks. Instead it collects information about them and others over a period of time and then mass bans them. You may have heard that are a lot of problems with hackers in MW2, and that is because VAC is combined with a matchmaking system where a random player in the game acts as the host instead of a dedicated server. With dedicated servers the server administrators can moderate the server (much like a chat room or forum) and ban people who cheat or break the rules. There were no such abilities in MW2. With the delayed mass banning by VAC and no user moderation hackers are allowed to get out of hand and nobody can really do anything about it. With dedicated servers this shouldn't be nearly as big a problem in Black Ops. | ||

More rambling about perks below + Show Spoiler + It appears they've swapped around some of the pro versions. Read about them here awhile back and they seem to have changed. According to that list Hardened Pro is Stopping Power pro... aka, more damage to killstreaks. Not more damage to players. The other part listed in the link (Reduced flinch when shot at) is interesting. Regular hardened is just FMJ/Deep Impact. I seem to remember flinching on hit being annoying more in single player since in multi you're usually dead pretty quickly when you start getting hit. Looking over the list now, as it is likely more accurate, it seems that there isn't a super clear winner for every perk slot now. Also, huzzah. Scavenger: Resupply from dead bodies. Does not resupply launchers or equipment Ghost is still likely gonna be on all of my classes. Maybe a few with scavenger, hard to say. Interesting that none of the ones on that list mention motion sensors/camera spikes. Used to be Ninja pro when I looked at this list and Tekin's info says Hacker pro. Don't mind if it's on both, though splitting up the stealth abilities between perks would kinda suck. Given that Ninja pro gained sitrep pro's louder enemy footsteps it's hard to say if they're willing to give the perk more than that. | ||

Looks like my classes will be mostly kitted with Lightweight or Scavenger, Steady Aim or Scout, and Marathon or Ninja. I don't plan on letting my opponents get many killstreaks on me and if they can see me then I can see them so as far as I'm concerned, ghost is useless. None of the other perks seem all too appealing to me, but that could change depending on the weapons. | ||
