Alright so here's the deal. This name is a fake to hide my true identity. I just wanted a fresh start with SC2.
I was an avid player of Broodwar back in the day, although I was probably only D+ or C- at best. The height of my career consisted of me very politely asking the good Manifesto7 for a game and him gracefully obliging.
I excelled in micro, becoming a force in popular UMS games such as V-tec, TMA, and Snipers. Later I moved on to War3 then Dota, although my heart remained with BW, both Melee and UMS. Micro has always been my forte and there was a point in time where I was confident enough to think I could hold my own against any player, even the mighty Legionnaire (I received a warning for that thread :X).
Like many here, I casually followed the sc2 scene without actually owning it. I had the Beta for for about 2 weeks, but when the full game came out I couldn't afford it (poor college student). Well, my friends, I am now officially throwing my hat in the ring. My good buddy and ex college roomy Howl is sharing his account with me. This blog will now be a documentation of my progress so far in this new, great game.
Hopefully some of you guys might find it interesting to see how a new player is thinking, now that certain builds are generally streamlined. I have only had about 10 games at the end of beta, so I don't really know anything about this new game.

Chaper I
My First Game
I'm eager to play again and not even write this. That's a good sign, I guess. I have decided to play as terran since that's what most of the material to learn with is out there for. I recently watched Idra vs Boxer, ZvT. Was a sick game. It's really inspiring to see Boxer play again and he has definitely influenced my race pick.
I originally played zerg back in the day, but was always competent with micro on any unit. The zergs just don't feel the same as they used to. I think they have changed the most out of the three races.
Maybe I'll switch around later on, but for now I am a proud Terran soldier.
I also have decided to skip the single player. I received conflicting advice from two close people; one said it was absolutely crazy and amazing, the other gave it a terrible review saying it was boring and easily manipulated (i.e. build 1000 marines and still win). Multiplayer is where my heart is anyway, so I'm just going to jump on in. The account I am sharing is in platinum division, so that is where I will start out. Howl has given me free reign to just lose as much as possible, so that is what I intend to do. My goal is actually to bring him down a division I will consider that a rank up for me.
First Game, Tv?
This is my first game ever. I have no idea whats going on. I must remind you that I am in Platinum Division. I also cant remember the guy's race, but I am the terran.
TvR(t)
Probably my 5th or so. I don't really remember what happened, but I have it flagged as a good game.
First Win, TvT
My first win ever! A proud moment for me. This is 7 or 8 games deep.
TvZ vs Charlie
Charlie is a college friend of mine irl. He played competitive starcraft back in the day, although I didn't really know him then. Pretty sure he has been playing since day 1 of the game. We played a few matches and he showed me some things. This is our first match (the one where we go full out to see who is best, before the better player starts to teach the other). Played on Lost Temple to give me a level playing ground. Probably my 9th or so game.
Second Win, PvP
My second win. I decided to play protoss for a couple games just to try them out. I didn't really know anything about them (mostly just followed zerg and terran during the updates), so I figured it was a good idea. This was my first attempt. And to top it off, I get cheesed, but manage to pull it out with some good ol' sc1 skills.
TvZ Stalemate
This is probably my 20th game. Ends up in a stalemate, from which I nobly surrender. I probably could have won, but I wasn't very family with the map reveal system. (And no, I'm not actually from korea)
My first impressions are that I have some homework to do. I can't seem to win without a proper build order. Having a general plan in mind to work towards isn't enough.
I'm playing around with fast nukes and ghosts as the moment. They seem like they could be a very good unit to be rushed for, combined with some marines, marauders, and medivac. Snipe is really a good skill if you aren't using ghosts for nukes or if you have ample energy on your units. And the threat of nuke harass at any time is game changing. Like the protoss of old, Terran is now the race of cloak.
It is hard to remember to keep up with my orbital command. This 'feature' just feels like something arbitrary that blizzard put in to give us more things to do for macro. Busy work, if you will. Not that big of a deal though.
Also, gas seems to be very very important. Waaaay more important that it used to be. Stealing gas in the beginning is a very powerful move. Either you delay his nodes, or you force him to spend crucial money to throw down something to block it.
Alright, that's it for now. If you have any comments or critiques about those replays, leave 'em here! I'll gladly accept any advice, good or bad.
Thanks guys!
