@semantics: Your argument is that many people have lousy typing technique, therefore a good keyboard is pointless? That's like saying many people have poor posture, therefore everybody should get along with folding chairs to sit on.
You seem to think that discussing keyboard quality is ridiculous, so why are you participating in this discussion? It's like joining in on a car discussion and saying everybody should get along with the jalopy they got used from their parents, or better yet, take the bus. It's like jumping in on an Starcraft discussion and saying that it's a stupid game and you all should quit playing. Just because you don't care about a subject doesn't mean that others don't.
@Onioncookie: I suggest borrowing one to try out, and see if you like it. That's what I did.

@Onioncookie: I suggest borrowing one to try out, and see if you like it. That's what I did. Lol Yes everyone wants to buy a keyboard they see one good player use. But it's not going to make them any better i just see it as a pure luxury which could be spent on something that can benefit them more. The only point in buying a sports car if you never race it is so that you have a fast looking car. So then the point of buying an expensive keyboard is nothing more then an internet dick waving contest.
You can easily spend it on better headset, better sound card maybe more ram or something else and gain much more out of playing sc2. Then just buying an expensive keyboard. I mean you can buy a 60000 dollar bed hand stitched and crap to get a good night sleep. Or you can buy a good quality inflatable mattress which most people would be fine sleeping on. I can continue with "luxury" analogies do people really need to be spending money on this crap. Overselling the item isn't letting them make informed decisions, you're rather just coxing them into following your ways.

edit: i almost got the i-rocks 6230 cherry brown for ~90 shipped but decided to shell out extra for filco
I'm actually surprised this threads full of so much talk over the cherry browns. The GeekHack polls are split pretty even. I have tried both switches and actually prefer the blues for SC2. I didn't really like the browns that much, while they do have a tactile bump, its so subtle that I ended up bottoming the keys out every time. If noise is a concern definitely go with the browns though, the blues make a fairly loud high pitched click. I enjoy the sound so it works for me.
The talk about browns being better than blues for gaming is coming straight from the difference in the process of actuating, releasing, and actuating again. Double clicking on blues is a little weird at first, but its such a small difference, and completely irrelevant for SC2. So when deciding between brown and blue, if you like a clicking feel, get blue, if you need a keyboard that's quieter get brown. Either will do just fine for gaming.

Actually you couldn't be more wrong. I own a 01 BMW Z3 (6 cylinder, 3.0L model) and race it at track days, but the entertainment it provides me on a daily basis from taking turns spiritedly or accelerating off a light far outweighs any standard car. I can only imagine what an even nicer sports car would be like.

My 10 keyless Filco with Brown MX switches just got here, and I have to say...
I don't think a keyboard can feel or operate any better then this one. The quality is just ridiculous.

whats so special about a mechanical keyboard?
i dont want to be a cock, i just dont know it

@imperator-xy: This has been discussed to death already in this thread. Read this guide for a primer.
@semantics: How will a better soundcard or headset help with SC2 any more than a keyboard would?
The reason why I care about my keyboard is because I'm a programmer and I spend all day typing. I'm sure I'm not the only one here. If you spend all day sitting at a desk, I bet you care about what kind of chair you're sitting on. If you spend all day on your feet, you probably take care to own quality comfortable shoes.
It's not a status thing. If I wanted to prove I could spend a lot of money on a keyboard, I would get a Topre and plate it in gold. If I wanted to prove to prove I was old-skool cool I'd get a Model M or Model F.
It's not even like a mechanical keyboard is all that expensive considering you can use it for ten or twenty years. At ~$120 or something, it would be one of the cheaper components in a gaming rig, and it will outlast the computer several times over. Why skimp on the one piece of computer equipment you interface with all day and may be using for a decade or more?
Again, I must ask why you are posting in this thread other than to troll. Would you jump in on a car thread or a furniture thread or a video card thread and tell people to quit wasting their money and go with the Wal-Mart brand?

Just because you actually use it for racing doesn't make it valid for everyone else to use. esp if it cost more then what they have or need. I'm against spending shit unnecessarily which is what i find this thread to encourage because the item is not so expensive people can pull people and convince them to buy the product even though they really don't need to. It's a matter of usage and cost. If you have a family of 5 and you want to buy a 2 seater sports car just because and try to justify spending money on it to your wife because you say it handles better and accelerates faster good luck producing any more children after she kicks you in the balls for wasting money. I use a old logitech ergonomic keyboard and trackball most of the time. I switch out a mouse when playing games at which point i still use a wrist rest and a mouse that I'm conformable gripping. I'm never going to be pro or anything i don't need the best equipment to play a game a enjoy. To encourage people to buy one product because it may do a little better for them in a game is nothing more then playing on peoples hopes and dreams of grandeur and for the most part if a waste of money.

not a matter of if they NEED to, it's a matter of if someone WANTS to then the thread is here to help provide information in which it will make that person's decision closer to the correct one.

This huge argument is highly subjective as well. You can't know exactly how much it will help different individuals. If you're comfortable with your hardware and have money to spend, why not get a FILCO? I can attest to the luxury as well as many and in a lot of cases it's not just luxury - there's plenty of efficiency as well. You can't look at it as linearly as 'a more expensive keyboard won't help you improve very much if at all, if you're not already good at SC2.'
Another thing that can really matter is a lot of keyboards out there take a shit ton of space. FILCO, Ducky, etc. can pride themselves in being efficient space savers that don't sacrifice any quality at all, rather increase in quality in most cases. There's plenty of ways a FILCO can benefit you, not just a zomgmustgetcuzprogamerzhazzergoigetgudz

Also, you could always e-mail them to inquire about stock or consider if you might like one of the similar models that they have in stock.
And yes, the timing is consistent with this thread causing a rush on this keyboard. My bad.

@NuKedUFirst I called them around 2pm after placing my order and they told me that they did get a fresh shipment last weekend and that they can ship em out within this week. they told me that their new stock should cover my keyboard but they did say that their backorder list is quite long. so you should call them before placing your order to see if yours can be shipped with their new supply
