In case anyone was curious, Fruit Dealer is using a Filco Majestouch "Tactile Touch" with Cherry MX Brown switches. I have the tenkeyless version of this keyboard.

I put the red escape key on mine as a joke and then I lost the original and felt like a wanker.

Does this really need it's own topic? If do, it makes more sense to be in general thread than SC2 because this is about the keyboard.

Secondly, there's already keyboard topics around, such as with Filcos, and think it could just be mentioned there.

Personally I have a Cherry MX browns switch keyboard as well, and don't really care for it too much, but it is pretty nice. It feels like there's more distance to travel with the keys (than rubber dome), and it's pretty hard to tell when the keys are being pressed as well, since browns are hardly tactile at all, which made me pretty disappointed.

If you can, test out a MX blues board before making choice, because I haven't, and think I might like them. There is a bit of talk about key-press hysteresis, but I've heard that it's not a major issue.
Black widow is also substantially cheaper than a majestouch as far as I know also.

There are several versions of these Filco keyboards available, with number pads or without (tenkeyless), and with Cherry MX Blue, Brown or Black switches. I am not a high level gamer, so I can't really comment on their desirability for gaming, but for typing on all day, mechanical keyboards feel very luxurious compared to membrane keyboards.

For typing I personally do not recommend the linear Black switches, though I can't comment authoritatively on their suitability for gaming. The choice between Brown or Blue depends on whether or not you like the clicking sound. I find it irritating personally, but it's really a matter of personal preference.

It looks somewhat similar to the Das Keyboard or the IBM Model M in terms of clickey keys and tactile feedback.

Personally I went for the Das Keyboard and if it's similar then it's a good keyboard!

RTS players tend to like Browns as there is a lot of button pressing going on. Blacks tend to be favored for FPS due to the higher actuation requirement (~15G more than a brown, ~10 more than a blue).
